You know you break the rules...admit it!
So 99% of the time I'm playing on the TG server, I'm diligent to follow the rules. It's just become the way I play now, so it doesn't have to even be a conscious thing anymore. But every once in awhile I'll catch myself botching it up. Like last night, on Cerbere. We were moving up towards Command, and I jumped a wall at the bottom of the hill. Right after landing, there was an enemy, and I instinctively hit the jump button again since my finger was still on it as he started to shoot at me. I instantly cringed and cursed under my breath for bunny hopping, intentional or not.
So this is the place to sound off, vent, get it off your chest, confess, tell the world that sometimes, even though you're a committed TG member, you blow it and break a rule or two.|TG-55| Infantry Division - Captain

I've done that! It was the 1st day I added my TG tag, and I stupidly hit the jump button when bullets started shooting up from under me. I still died, and thought that even in a real situation, if someone shoots me from below, I'm not going to crouch down and take them, I'm gonna jump over him.. Lesson learnt, was I turned the shadows and lighting down to lower settings, so there are less dark corners!

From time to time I will get surprised by someone and flinch hitting the jump button. Then out of shame, I will just stand there and get mowed down for having done it.

This happens to me too sometimes when I try to press V or something . I usually stop there and turn around, let them knife me.

I think we all do the occasional run and jump. You get better at it over time but the instinct to survive comes into play and you react before you have time to think. That's why I generally don't get too upset about bunny hopping unless it blatant and repeated.

For some reason, I long ago developed a habit of jumping when going around corners. That's been a tough one to break.

I personally don't see anything wrong with one jump, it seems to be a realistic "tactic" to get out of the way of gun fire but when your jumping right in front of somebody over and over that's just taking advantage of a flaw in the game.

I TK-knifed and teabagged Ponch last night. But if that's wrong, I don't want to be right.

The worst thing is, when you do something right that is probably misinterpreted by the other side. I'm walking on a friendly flag, reach a wall, jump and mid-jump see an enemy on my right, turn around and fall on the ground. I didn't even know he was there when I started jumping, but if I was him, I'd call that a bunnyhop. So then I stand in shame without shooting until they kill me, all the while yelling at myself "You haven't done anything wrong. Yeah, but it looked wrong! Who cares what it looked like, that's not what it was! Yeah but is this the impression you want to give to other people? Shouldn't they ask me first? Yeah but what if they're pubbies?"
I keep on yelling at myself back and forth like that for several minutes after the fact.Fight!

Re: You know you break the rules...admit it!
Some of the admins have said that even one hop is enough to be called bunny hopping. Yes, in many FPS games hopping like a crazed bunny on crack is a 'tactic.' But in real life, where you may 'jump' or rather flinch when surprised, your not going to pull an Air Jordan and hop two feet straight up.
Now that said... I normally don't report for one hop if surprised*, because I have the same problem that when spoked (particularly where grenades are involved) I sometimes hit jump despite it not going to help. However I also agree that when I do catch myself doing it I do offer up a free shot or two as penitents for my actions.

*If someone is looking right at me, running and then jumps that however is a different story...

Re: You know you break the rules...admit it!
I bunny hopped a couple times this month.
Once I was commanding EU on Care Bear and all of a sudden, I hear the swoosh of a knife. I hit the jump key and sure enough, some guy is trying to get my tags. I jumped off of the bunker and then jumped again after landing. I'm glad the walker was there to mow me down.
Another time I was taking fire from a tank. I caught myself hopping to avoid fire and let it run me over.
Supposedly I broke the Listen to the CO/SL rule even though he only gave me one order and didn't talk the whole round. It was Suez Canal and we were defending Trash and Inner was neutral. The CO wanted me and my squad to attack Inner but we were taking fire at Trash and we wouldn't have made it there in time. After I was reported, I kinda felt like, "What the heck?!?! That CO only assigned me that one!" My squad also felt the same way, so I ask the CO what he wants us to do and he never talked to me once.
