An Honest Query from the 3rd.
Gentlemen, Ladies, and Catman,
Unkind rumours have surfaced with regard to our fair In-House Squad: we've been labeled by certain parties as teamstackers and griefers. Personally, I was saddened when I came across these accusations, but I realized that my point of view is biased and probably not completely fair.
Hence, I honestly ask you, the TG community, have we wronged? Has the 3rd soured? Have we become team stackers, griefers? Have we behaved un-TG-like? Have we become elitist? Have we honestly behaved in a way that you did not expect mature adults to behave?
My father used to slap me when I didn't wash my face in the morning. My mother used to scold me in the morning when I didn't wash my ears. When I was a bit older, she started saying: “If your family doesn't tell you, think how it'd be if someone at school told you?”
And it now occurs to me that she was right: if my family hadn't yelled at me, I'd be the laughing stock of my school: I'd be dirty, unkempt, and probably with a small circle of friends.
You are our family. If you don't tell us that we're behaving in a manner that is not TG-like, think how it'd be if the BF2142 community in general accused us of being hypocrites?
So I ask you: what is your honest opinion of the 3rd? Have we wronged, and how can we improve?
It has never been the intent of the 3rd to be elitist, to team-stack, to cause grief (especially to a losing team). All of our members are held to a high standard and if we've fallen lax as of late, we want to know. Our egos be damned: TG is so much more important than the pride of some of its members.
While I want your honest opinion, I do want to set some guidelines for this discussion.
Firstly, in the hallmark of TG, let's please keep this mature. The thread Crux made previously degenerated into personal insults and immature posting. There is to be no such behaviour here. Whether you wear the TG tags or not, posting on these forums and in this thread is to be kept professional, polite, and mature.
Secondly, please be as specific as you can. Teamstacking is deliberate and consistent team-switching behaviour that causes an overt team imbalance that leads to a ticket difference of more than 100. Griefing is gloating, immature TS comments, or most any conduct unfitting a mature adult or a TGer. Our members will keep their peace and will not keep a grudge with you for calling them out by name: be as specific as possible but do not be personal: do not insult and do not be emotional. The purpose of this thread is to acknowledge the mistakes the Third has made and to work on a solution.
Lastly, I would like your opinion on how we can improve on whatever we're doing wrong. Overtly dwelling on what is wrong will fix nothing: clear action from us will fix things.
As a final note: the Third is mostly concerned with Age of Conan nowadays: we have about half of dozen active members in BF2142 since about two months ago.Fight!

Re: An Honest Queery from the 3rd.
I never had a problem with anyone of the 3rd.
Not ingame, in the forums or some other place. To be honest I'm surprised by this thread and my first thought was: "what happened?"
So in my eyes you are a great bunch of people and I allways enjoy playing and working with you!Last edited by big-eye101; 08-01-2008 at 04:40 PM. Reason: spelling

Re: An Honest Queery from the 3rd.
I don't see and stacking or griefing within this group. Whenever i'm on, i usually see three 3rd members on each team.
The 3rd is probably my favorite of all the IHS's, i've had more fun and laughs playing with you guys then any other IHS.Former Cutthroat, established Merc.

Re: An Honest Queery from the 3rd.
Honestly I also do not know where this is coming from today. Once upon a time I believed there were issues but I do not see it that way today. If this is about a specific evening several nights ago where the 3rd let their hair down and had more tactical fun than the server was used to, the only problem I saw with that was the aar post but that was rectified very quickly and many here probably never saw it. My only thought would be and this goes for any of the TG IHS's, the 8th included, if you are in game playing on the TG server, try to join the gen members in the gen TS channel. Now on an evening like before when you guys were having your own private moment that is fine, we do that from time to time but more often than not, you will see us in the gen channel and I believe you guys should do the same as well as the rest of the IHS's.

I've never had a problem with the 3rd, except for that Zh... guy - Oh wait, never mind.
I've never seen you guys being un-TG like, unless routinely killing me is considered un-TG like behavior.

Re: An Honest Query from the 3rd.
There is a difference between team-stacking and wanting to play with your mates. Just because a 4 man 3rd squad rips the other team to shreds does not give the losers the right to yell "team-stacking".
In my opinion there is nothing more fun then messing around with my 8th Mercs only to be mowed down by Zhohar leading an all third squad. It makes us tighten up our play and keeps us sharp.
Don't listen to the haters.

Re: An Honest Query from the 3rd.
There is only one third member that I have a problem with and he doesn't play 2142 anymore. I'm not going to single him out because my dislike for him is probably unwarranted, but I don't like him.
Every time I'm on 2142 someone is bitching about teamstacking. Everyone wants to play with their friends and I think that is fine. One of my SM's was saying he was going to complain in TS about team balance when the round was over because we had lost like 4 maps in a row some by 100 tickets some by 20-30. I asked him if he was having fun... when he said yes, I asked what does it matter if we win or lose. It doesn't.
I can see how some people might see the third as elitist, we went through this before with Crux's post, the 7th went through it when they were still here. Anyways, I don't know all of the third, but the one's I've played with I like, with one exception.A captain of the most awesome IHS ever and remember to burn before you pillage.

Could you tell the 8th all hang out together during the day, I think we all share the same computer, how many 8th in a row can we get?

Re: An Honest Query from the 3rd.
I can understand where some people might think that the 3rd was team stacking or being elitist. There have been times when I've seen members or the 3rd and a few other TG people in one squad always on one side. Now, I don't call it team stacking, but that can lead to that side winning over and over and over. When zhohar leads he is a serious and focused squad leader. He's also rather good at it. The way he leads can come across as "elitist", but I think that's just his style. I don't think him or any of the 3rd think they're better than any of us, but it might seem like that to some. So while I don't have a problem other than hating it when zhohars(I don't mean to pick on him. I've seen many others do it) squad seems to make one side win all the time, I can understand where those feelings come from.
Gee, I hope that made sense. Also, I don't have any issues with you guys. All I'm saying is I can see how some people might. As catman said, I just have fun.

Next time just start a "HUNTZHO" squad and make your goal nothing more than disrupting him and his squad. It's fun. Of course I have a bit of a masochistic streak so your results may vary.

Re: An Honest Query from the 3rd.
Wasn't there a thread a few months back in which the 3rd explained that they play together on the same team so that you can practice for competition play on your home server, instead of some private server?
The problem with team stacking isn't the fault of the third, it's the fault of everyone else (including myself ._.), for being too chicken to switch to the other side and face the wrath of the 3rd.
Even when I'm caught on the otherside of the bloodbath, I like seeing the 3rd on the same team. Shows that they're keeping the rust off for any competition play they're going to get involved in. Assuming of course, you guys all still do play competitively.

Re: An Honest Query from the 3rd.
I find any accusation that the 3rd behaves in an un-TG like manner or that it intentionally teamstacks to be completely bewildering and I expect unfounded as well.
I do see a tendency for 3rd members to squad up with their fellow thunderbolts, but I also see those same SL's leading pubby squads just as often.
I see those occasional all third squads as nothing more than wanting to play with folks that are mature, familiar, and fun. Isn't that one of the main reasons all of us joined TG?
If those doing the accusing now are new to TG I would like to suggest two things to them:
1. join TeamSpeak and ask for an invite to a 3rdSFD led squad (you will usually get it)
2. give the old farts on here a bit of time to become familiar with you and you with them before crying foul.
I can remember my early times playing on the TG servers and when I saw the 7th and 3rd on the opposite team I knew two things: "This is going to hurt" and "I'm going to learn something". It did and I did and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything as it made me a stronger player.
If this accusation is coming from a vet, then I can only suppose that their experience with the 3rd is vastly different than mine has been. (and I think I've played a LOT of hours both with and against you guys and gal)
