Re: Default controls versus User set
For the most part I run the basic set up. with the exception that "c" is prone and "f" is frag grenades.

Re: Default controls versus User set
I use my keyboard and my mouse. Though my keybinds are totally different.
I use the arrowkeys and the numpad + the few keys on the left like "shift" "return" "Crtl" "backspace" ... its actually pretty weird for others but it fits perfectly for me

I have pondered that. I think I'm too set in my ways though......

Re: Default controls versus User set
Regular keyboard and a laser mouse. All BF2142 settings are default, save for F being weapon 7 (grenades), and C being unbound from change vehicle view. I use C as TeamSpeak push-to-talk key.
Beyond that, everything is the same. I should probably get one of these Nostromo things, just to see what they're like.Fight!

Re: Default controls versus User set
I also work in IT, Spulat, and I've been doing everything I can to prevent the complete onset of carpal tunnel--I also crochet (repetitive movement) and play piano and flute (again, repetitive movements). I generally type with my keyboard in my lap, even at work, because it seems to help. When I'm gaming, I play with my Nostromo on my lap at a slight angle, which allows me to play for longer before my wrist starts hurting because it's a more natural position. I would recommend trying it, but your mileage may vary.
There's also a really good site online for exercises to help prevent and alleviate the symptoms of RSI's. I've had great results with even the most basic stretches described there.
Back to the topic at hand. When I first started playing 2142, I used my keyboard, not thinking to map out a Nostromo profile for it. I found I had the same problem Kelvin had, only it was more along the lines of forgetting which weapon or item was which number. I'm sure I'd have gotten used to it, but as stated before, I have smaller hands, which means more movement to get to those outside keys. It's just easier to reach all the keys on the Nostromo, and it's easier for me to associate certain keys and motions with certain weapons and items.

Re: Default controls versus User set
Yes for the majority of those exercises I've been trying to be sure I do them at least once per day. Because I now play Piano and have just finished my final in that class yesterday and am moving on to the next one this Fall, so it's absolutely critical that my hands not lock up or I'm going to have trouble playing and that will upset me greatly considering how much I love this instrument...
I'm going to pick up that device this weekend, and report back what I think of it. I'm convinced it'll be worth it based on this thread, and some research I did on my own."But way back where I come from, we never mean to bother. Re: Default controls versus User set
For all of you Nostromo users and wannabes, check out this crusty old thread:

It was pretty interesting, because some of my favorite TGers posted their N52 profiles. It was like looking at recipes to secret sauces.

Either that or have EA design an special squad leader drone that simply points at him the entire round yelling, "HERE'S ZHOHAR" over and over.
