Re: A good MIC...
I have 3 headsets that I like and 2 of then have mics built in.
1. Plantronics Audio 770 Virtual Sound headset
2. Plantronics Audio 910 over the ear bluetooth
3. Razer Barracuda headset
The plantronics headset is somewhat large but has great sound and mic. I pretty much just use my Barracuda headset anymore since I dont use my speakers much anymore due to my 3 month old son and I love it and you can always detach the mic if you want.

Zalman microphone for $6.87. Many of my buddies over in other gaming and computer forums have recommended it. I don't own one but its supposedly very good for its price and its made by a respectable company.

Re: A good MIC...
There should be another cheap walmart mic that clips on to your shirt. I use a type of those and it seems to work out ok in vent/ts. I'm not sure how I sound in game. I do know that it probably picks up speaker sounds though when I talk since I don't like using headphones for FPS. :/

Re: A good MIC...
You really should. I hate hearing the game or myself when my squad members are talking.

Re: A good MIC...
I also have low sound issues with my mic, even with gain set to max. Any ideas?
Hello by the way.

Re: A good MIC...
Welcome to TG
Apart from shouting into your mic
, you could ...
check
1) mic boost is on in 2142 options/sound
2) your output is set to 100% in 2142 options/sound
3) mic is near your mouth
then test it, ask for feedback on scale of 1-5 for volume and clarity eg 5 by 3, may be the answer
If its low volume still, then alt tab out the game and goto sound card settings and check its got mic boost on that way too

Re: A good MIC...
Well Im a crazy inventor who likes to keep things simple so I made my own because I couldnt find a good solution - certainly not for $35
Here is what I use:
- Radio Shack mic, the kind that goes around your neck ( approx $9.99 )

- Sony Headphones from Best Buy ( approx $25 )

I bent the microphone, so instead of going around my neck, it snaps onto my headphones

Very comfortable and works like a charm, I have a couple of audio extension cords plugged into the back of my PC and I jack into those to give me room to move.
If I was a real girl I would have made it look pretty but Im not so it isnt. If you have heard me talk in game then you know how it sounds. Have used it for about 4 years.

Sounds great. Maby I'll have to go visit Menlo Park and have you show me exactly how you made that.

Re: A good MIC...
Orbital strikes are about the most uncool thing about surround sound. You thought the sound was annoying BEFORE... now it wakes neighbors D:

Re: A good MIC...
I've just got another headset () Its not the most comfortable, so not recommended.. My main problem is low mic levels. I have the game volume down when recording and Mic Boost/gain on, but then I get so much noise feedback in the headphones, but not on the recording. It makes it uncomfortable to play with. If I'm not recording, everything is fine though.
