Re: A good MIC...
Logitech headphones that go round the back are arguably the most uncomfortable and poor performing headsets out there...

Re: A good MIC...
I have this headset, an Altec Lansing Steelsound. Comfortable, effective.

I'd just rather not use a headset. Unnecessary.

Re: A good MIC...
I've gone through a variety of headsets, but on my last cycle I switched to the aforementioned home-made mic out of your old mic,
and bought a nice pair of sennheiser cordless headphones.
(btw...I re-recommend that you do that mic conversion. 5 min will get you a very servicable mic until you decide on something fancier)
Having the cordless is great, and you don't always need a mic.
Conversely, sometimes you need only the mic if you're using speakers.
Having them separate has been a much better experience.
There were cordless headsets, but nothing affordable with good reviews.|TG-9th| BBgun. - I'll put your eye out, kid.

Re: A good MIC...
I've been thinking of getting a new headset. Any ideas for an affordable combo?

Re: A good MIC...
I will say to avoid Plantronics. I've returned about a dozen of them to Best Buy because the cord ALWAYS wears out and one earpiece would stop working.

Re: A good MIC...
If you're looking for Surround sound and high quality then go for something like the Medusa 5.1's that are out there.
My headset is this, exceedingly cheap, but sound is more than good enough and my voice always comes through clearly. It uses jacks, not USB, the cord is pretty damn long, so you can go and do stuff around the room while you keep the headset on and it's comfortable for pretty long gaming sessions (~ 5 hours) For that price it's excellent (And Sennhesier makes great headsets). That site is also a great place to look for headsets, but they don't always have the best prices (I also believe they have a ".com" site if you're in the US)Anger is a gift - Malcolm X

I'm also gonna look into a wireless USB set...if such a thing exists..I can't imagine it does not.

Re: A good MIC...
I've been a fan of my Sennheiser PC 155 headset for a few years now. They're oh so comfortable, binaural, noise-filtering mic, and I only had to RMA one pair for an annoying crackling in the left pod on really low bass frequencies. They've survived B.C., Venezuela, Belize, and now Madagascar so when I look to replace these guys I'll be looking to Sennheiser again.

Wireless...USB...?
Great for you, and PM07 if he's happy with his. Just I've heard that those Logitech ones are really bad from loads different places (I did a lot of research when I found my current headset), but I can't imagine their completely bad if they're still making them, so great if you're doing good with yours.Anger is a gift - Malcolm X

Re: A good MIC...
My friend's USB dongle was broken for Wii Rock Band. I could not stop laughing when he said " My dongle is broken. I need to get a replacement dongle."
