    Wake Island 2142

Several nights ago, we had an entire TS channel full of people groan when Wake came into rotation. We held an impromptu poll to see if anyone wanted to play the round of Wake and no one spoke up.

This got me thinking: how strong is the resentment against Wake?

Vote in the poll. There needn't be a reason for your vote: this game is meant to be fun, and if you aren't having fun, that's good enough of a reason. This will probably be constructive in conjunction with the "Make Your Own Rotation" thread.

Overall I dont like it that much, for play in euro hours with low TG numbers on the server
It is a big map that requires coordination, if there are good commanders then this map does shine

I like the map. As long as enough players are online and the squads on both sides are well organized, you can have a lot of fun (even when doing the rather "boring" jobs like defendig the Titan).

I like it because it's new and different from the others still!

I don't like it because I get serious lag the whole round. I'd like it if the lag went away.

I have this problem with both of the new maps, as well. It's odd; I have very little lag until either Shingle or Wake Island come into the rotation, after which point I have to endure frequent lag spikes until I disconnect and reconnect to the server. But I still like the new maps.

It feels like two maps and like Silver said it needs a commander. I'm for removing it from the rotation for a while.

I'm not a big fan of it. It feels claustrophobic: the titans are such confined spaces and so much happens there, and the island itslef is so narrow, it's difficult to drive a buggy with any kind of freedom. It's a very uncomfortable feeling, like there aren't any open spaces. My idea of an armor map is Suez or Tampa where you can literally drive a buggy anywhere. Wake's water changes that.

I know this is purely aesthetic, but it's really not fun to travel between flags.

Wake Island can be an exceptional map when both teams are doing well as a team. It plays very well during our password nights. However, I've also played it when the population of the server is mixed and it can be a trying experience.

I think this is a good point. There are far too many vehicles for a map that seems to hinder driving. The islands need to be wider to allow some type of vehicle convoy in order to have any chance of getting your armor up to checkpoint safely.

I also think that every time I have played this map it has sort of "gone on too long". Is there a way to make the ticket count less without lowering the player count? Or maybe some other way to make the rounds shorter? Maybe if they had made it so capturing the enemy titan or blowing it up actually ended the round.

    <shrug>

Anyhow, I voted to keep it around. We should keep Shingle and Wake around until we get to know them better.

I'm pretty sure there's a landbridge in the water between the two most western flags.

I've... never actually played it I missed the testing and 1.5 came out while I'm deployed so...

That said, I noticed on my solo walkthrough that the island just seemed really small. I have all these tanks and walkers and crap but barely enough space to even turn around with them.
