It should make it easier as the defending team generally has complete vehicle control. It only means people should step up with more coordination between commander and SL. Also, people need to realize outpost is no longer a priority. Before, it would stop vehicles from spawning, now the only use is assets. It is much better to go for earlier flags if there is a breakthrough.

At the risk of sounding a little like Uranium (no offense intended Uranium) you can take any map and find something to gripe about. EA loves meat grinders and, sadly, it seems that's the way they will continue to design their maps.

But if we're going to take out maps because of bottlenecks and meat grinders....Camp G, and "Carebear" shouldn't be in the rotation either. Which really doesn't leave us with very many maps to play.

I agree that our CO's and SL's should just work a little harder at communicating with each other when the meat grinder is in full effect. We have a lot of intelligent CO's and SL's and with TG's level of teamwork, we should be able to find a way to overcome the design flaws of the maps.

I say keep it. Berlin isn't that much harder without vehicles than it is with them. (I've seen rounds where the PAC couldn't cap a flag when they have the Walker/APC.)

Fair enough. It seems that my impressions were wrong. We played FoB last night on a full server with 70% TG. As the map came on, there were groans on teamspeak. I asked (twice) if anyone liked the map, and no one spoke up. I thought I was voicing popular opinion - this thread shows otherwise.

Well I think it's a crappy map WITH vehicles (GO TO HELL, APC MORTAR), so with or without, it wouldn't make a difference to me

I think that this is one map that can really show how effective a good commander can be. Some of the times that I've squad-lead on this map, my squad has come so close to capping Crossroads early on (I'm still not that good at playing but I do tend to have some excellent squad members) but then lost it all because we had no other squads backing us up. When all of the squads run off to do their own thing with no co-ordination, this map is a slaughter-fest against PAC. If anything, I would like to see more maps that require a high level of inter-squad co-ordination and provide the commander a good chance to do something other than 'just click around the map'. Yes, I know that what Commanders do is more complex than just clicking a mouse button, what I said was meant to be an over-simplification.

Perhaps a TGU course on being a commander could be useful?

Personally, I love infantry only Berlin. Sure, I'm almost always on the PAC side and we almost always get slaughtered but hell, it's certainly improving both my playing and SLing.

I dislike it with or without armor...though I think I dislike the inf only version more, I think maybe because it eliminates one advantage to being PAC, which is being able to bring your armor up to the front line quicker than EU.

Re: Removing infantry only Fall of Berlin map from the rotation

My my, camo + decoy SL = an easy walk through the middle to the second flag, get your squad to spawn on the flag and it's happy days.

I don't mind giving up my secrets since I don't play anymore...and also since they hardly worked because I could never seem to form a squad that had more than 2 people that followed orders properly.

A decent CO on defence can pretty much ruin the PAC, since there are 3 main places to attack - middle, South and North. You assign squads to each and you can ask a certain squad to break a few men off if it's getting too crazy in a particular area. This worked really well on a Password night a while back when Pfeil and I believe Y were squad leaders. 2 squads makes it a slightly bigger challenge but the SAT Track is just a beautiful thing.

On attack, the coordination (or lack thereof) is a problem, but the vehicle version is worse IMHO. I once saw Reaper on mortars and Lyra on repair+driver (Yes, he's that damn good, he drives and repairs at the same time) dominate PAC without breaking a sweat. The rest of the team literally had nothing to do.

My, my, it's never "easy" on a full TG conquest server, and it's not exactly a secret, it's tried every match, as you said yourself, there are really only three ways to go. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Im indifferent as to whether we play it or not, seems to me if PAC does break through more often than not they win the round. All of the maps have been played to death at this point, pairing down the list just gives us less and less variation in an already stale map list.

I think TG has done a great job mixing up the rotation in the last 2 years, but there is only so much you can do.

I could have done without the vehicles last night. Our team (PAC) didn't have experienced drivers while the EU team were very capable. Long story short, we didn't cap a flag until the round was handsomely decided. I hate vehicles on that map.

Exaggerating for effect, I should have made it clearer, however it does have a very high success rate when your squad understands "hold spawn". Also works better during the round and not straight at the beginning, when communication and concentration might be more relaxed due to a sense of security in their defence.

Well said, I don't think I went more than a couple weeks with the same rotation, but it's just the fact that we've had the same maps for a very long while.
