Beware new NVidia drivers
We've got multiple reports of people having 2142 issues with the new 178.13 nvidia drivers. It seems upgrading is a bad idea.

Re: Beware new NVidia drivers
Hmm, I have a SLI setup and just installed the 178.13 drivers. I've been playing BF2142 extensively for the past few hours and I havn't had any of the problems that some are having. So for those having issues I would go to Nvidia's site and/or roll-back the driver until there is a resolution.

Duly noted. Thanks for the heads-up.

Yeah the change to the antialiasing effect has change game play dramaticlly --- Although I think if you hardware control vs game control your antialiasing settings you can get around the issue.

Re: Beware new NVidia drivers
I'd be interested to see if the hardware control method resolves the problem, because I do currently have it set up to use the in game settings. Perhaps I'll re-install the new drivers and try it myself at some point.

It Big it did work for me. I turned it off in-game and then increased it to 16x in the hardware menu with 2142 selected. No more blackouts!

Re: Beware new NVidia drivers
Also FYI the new drivers and maybe also your old ones install active startup programs that from what I understand are not needed and cause problems. I downloaded CCleaner and turned them off and have not had a memory dump since.
FYI - CCleaner is freeware and from my past experiance with it 5yrs has given me nothing but a smooth running machine.

Re: Beware new NVidia drivers
I will second the awesomeness that is CCleaner. I've used it on multiple machines and never had a problem with it; in fact, I've noticed that, along with a well-balanced diet of PC cleanup and error checking, it can improve performance noticeably.

Re: Beware new NVidia drivers
I tried your fix Aumen and i think it works. But i'm unsure that the 16x in the control panel overrides the 2142 AA off setting. I just can't tell the difference!
But the game looks normal atleast. Thanks!

Re: Beware new NVidia drivers
Yeah Np - BTW I moved it down to 8x just to be on the safe side as I don't think BF can support the 16x?
