Re: 2142 is a brainwasher!

I actually hardly every have any ads in my game.

While Silver and myself were seedin the second server we noticed that he has ads. But I don't. It depense on your location if you have them in your game or not and also why they say (at least I belive) ... found that interesting.

Well the majority here is from the US so you have the same ads. I most of the time only have the big "ER"-logo

They are quite funny. I thought that in a middle of a war in an ice age would make the soldiers not give a damn about the latest movies and instead focus on their survival

I honestly don't remember seeing a single ad in my game....all those billboards are blank as far as I know.....I must look closer next time, maybe they're just so subtle I never noticed!

Re: 2142 is a brainwasher!

I remember the first time I saw an advertisement; it was for Star Wars: Clone Wars. I was totally confused because I didn't know that a) there was a new star wars film coming out and b) BF2142 featured in game advertising.

I remember wondering if there was an in-game cinema somewhere.

To the people who don't see these as a big deal or didn't even notice them, I appreciate that they're not hugely in your face but I have one word for you; subliminaladvertising!

In fact, I think EA have been very outside-of the box-clever with this one as I would have never thought of doing this but then I'm not a cheap, underhand business.

Righteous, uneducated rant complete.

It's crossing a line of consumer ethics. Just because they're unnoticeable doesn't make it right. I hate having to watch advertising when I paid $12 to go see a movie too, and I hate opening a $50 game box just to see twelve pages of advertising fall out of the box. It's the principle of the matter - I paid for it, I shouldn't have to endure payment a second time.
I know what you mean by you dislike all those pamphlets inside. The fact is thats also what your paying for. You could write to EA, just be happy Ea isn't like blizzard who sends you panphlets to buy little action figures and t-shirts. As for the in-game ads i'm sure some of the money they make gets back to the consumer in support ways, like we didn't pay for tampa, shingle or wake island unlike some games where one map can cost 5 dollars.

Re: 2142 is a brainwasher!

Was just digging through some of my screenshots, and thought this thread would be worthy of a revive instead of posting these in the random screenshots.

We all agree that as long as the ads were unobtrusive, blending into the background, and not too many bright colors / jump out at you type text it would be tolerable right?

See if you can spot all the "Watchmen" posters in these 2 pics! Talk about bombardment. Looks like these pics were taken around March of this year. I haven't ever seen ads that were as annoying as this since.
