That's pretty crazy, the ads are somethings that never really pop out at me it seems... too much action usually. I had kind of forgotten about them, there was a big stink about the fact that they were in-game.
Wait - there is a saw 5 ???? dear god. will it never end ?

The ads typically don't have much color... it popped because of the red text.

Re: 2142 is a brainwasher!
My game is in English and it was still titled Decadence.
I am kind of glad that the ads blend into the game. At first, I thought I would mind the ads, but they are unobtrusive and kind of decent so I don't mind them. So long as they contain extremely little text, blend easily with the background colors and are actually on the physical ingame billboards -- I don't mind them.

Re: 2142 is a brainwasher!
I noticed it when they had Bad Company and Death Race on the advertising boards.

I object just because of the principle behind them, and the implications otherwise. What do in-game ads get us? Is that suggesting that opposing in-game ads would see EA dropping support for the game? If they had promised, say, "Revenue from in-game advertising will in turn be spent supporting the game" that'd be one thing, but... eh.
It's crossing a line of consumer ethics. Just because they're unnoticeable doesn't make it right. I hate having to watch advertising when I paid $12 to go see a movie too, and I hate opening a $50 game box just to see twelve pages of advertising fall out of the box. It's the principle of the matter - I paid for it, I shouldn't have to endure payment a second time.

I was going to make a joke about you being blind, them not being in braille, and your aim sucking, but I don't have the energy. So let's just pretend it was a masterful quip

That's why I downloaded the game!
Seriously though, Uranium, I find myself agreeing with most of your posts. The advertising smacks of superiority and – on subject – dissent. While they are generally subtle, I abhor the lot of them for infiltrating the game.
Let's now think ahead; BF3 should be including interactive terrain damage so I wander what banners, posters etc will be the first things to get wrecked at the start of each round, ha!

I was REALLY pissed when Planetside got in-game billboards - a game you pay per month to play already. Seriously, wut?

That's sick! That's like a forum, with supporting members displaying sponsor links in-between posts!
Jokes, ha!

Re: 2142 is a brainwasher!
Found one!
Just after reading this post of course, happened to notice one on carebear. If I hadn't seen this post originally though, I most likely would have overlooked the ad which is fine by me. Like Zhohar said, if they are very discreet about it, and you don't notice them, no big deal.
Weird how even our english games have a french ad? Oh EA.
