Ribbons
Allright I know you may no want to reply to this but I also know that you are reading it at the moment. I saw that sticky about the ribbons and I was wondering something I want you to debate or think about... and there's no complain, only fact.
I'm playing TG since 6 months, I've been a supporting member, I've been a 3 stars general (like what, even EA recongnized my work), I've been a good SL (I got feedback almost every games I play), I follow orders and revive like crazy when I SM (stats attest of that) I'm almost always on the top of the leaderboard (even if that does'nt make me a good player, it's something more in the balance) and so on.
Whats wrong I did ?
Is it because you have to be popular to get feedback of your community or because your bringing your brick to the wall ? Because you don't feel me like a funny guy does not mean that I cannot save your back on the battlefield. A band of brothers is not only make of people who are joking and having fun, there's is also people in the backyard that are putting the hand ro work.
I agree, I agree, I'm not the most present guy in the activities like TGU or instructor terror... simple reason, I dont have alots of time to play so when I have time I want to play. That does not mean that I'm not bringing my brick to the wall when I'm on the battlefield. And no one can say that I've been piss off during the game as a SM or SL... I'm not that kind of.
Finally, I dont want to shock with this post, I want to make people thinking about what would they prefere if they were in a combat in real life ... a guy who would always be willing to joke ? or a soldier that would be ready to fight !
Thanks for reading this, don't think that I'm writing this down for a piece of silk, I'm raising up as a soldier ready to fight for his mate.

Re: Ribbons
You are funny!
THe big thing you lack is talking. Out of the top of my head I can remember you owning many many rounds with awesome K/Ds. But I cannot remember how your voice sounds or when the last time was you talked.
Since someone needs to nominate you with half an essay for a Ribbon - you also have to be liked by someone here.
On the other side your infantry skills are around similar to Reaperassaults - and he JUST recently got his combat action ribbon while being like 5 times more active around.

Re: Ribbons
Hey Kossst, I understand what you say here.
It seems people are lazy and do not submit nominations.
I blame myself here, as I am more than 1 year here at TG and I never submited a nomination...
And I remember a couple of times that I should have done this, but I did not.
Shame on me!
Therefore it is our fault as TG members that we forget to send nominations, when we see actions that deserve an award.
So I say:
Do not forget to nominate your peers for great performance on the battlefield and for contributing to the community.Proud former member of TG-E1st

Re: Ribbons
There was nothing arrogant about what Lyra said, communication will make your name more known to those that would be writing a ribbon submission.
For the most part, as Rasta said, people are lazy and don't award ribbons often. I think I've submitted maybe 8-ish, TOPS, in my time at TG. There are definitely people out there deserving ribbons they don't have, can be for a number of reasons, the ones stated, or perhaps they just play at a time of day that many won't see them.

Re: Ribbons
Sometimes I've had the feeling that only a select number of people are looked upon to do nominations. More senior members, for example. I never have thought to nominate people, because my knowledge of what is "exceptional" within gameplay (while well on it's way) is still developing, and having played for just under 6 months.
I also tend to think sometimes of peoples' expectations. They expect you to be an awesome player, so the bar is raised, and the ability to do something "exceptional" or "be" exceptional, is that much more difficult.
I agree it does bear the remninder that anybody can submit an nomination, and it doesn't matter who you are. As long as you can acknowledge that fact (myself included)
I've seen some good stuff that I should have nominated for, from now on I'll try to be sure to acknowledge those people."But way back where I come from, we never mean to bother. We don't like to make our passions other peoples' concern." -Dar Williams

Re: Ribbons
The key to a good nomination is choosing the most appropriate ribbon and then describing the feats of the nominee. Personal opinion such as, "I think he deserves..." is not a swaying argument.

Re: Ribbons
I've only done a couple nominations in the year I've been here. Not because I don't like anyone or because I don't enjoy playing with anyone, but because I look for places where a person goes above and beyond the call of duty.
I work for a call center as a Quality Analyst and this is a topic of sorts that comes up from time to time. Very few of our agents get good shows from their peers for the work they do. Here's what I tell them:
If you go out and do your best on each call and do your best to satisfy the customer and resolve their issue, you will get recognized for it.
Paraphrased for here: Go out, do your best each round, and have fun. The ribbons will come in their own time.
But, and I stress this most importantly, do not make ribbons the center of your universe. In the 18 months I've been here, I've only gotten three (the fourth is for scrims). All three came within a month of each other and that was almost a year ago now.
But I do not play here to earn ribbons or recognition - I play here to have fun and because I like working with all the fine individuals who also play here (even Lyra though he's a robot).

Re: Ribbons
I think Vortex's post captures the essential spirit of the ribbons system on an individual's basis. Personally, I've received one ribbon in almost 2 years here now. (And it was for defending the titan on a losing round. It was very appreciated). However, all I did was one day agree to be titan defense squad, but someone took the time to nominate me.
The only way this works is if we all nominate someone based upon exceptional displays of the ribbon criteria. Maybe some of the more "popular" or "well known" people have received nominations is because due to their exceptional acheivements. Through their displays of skill and dedication, people have gotten to know them, driving more nominations their way. Is it a popularity contest? YES!!! How popular are those people's skills which caused them to get the most nominations and awards.
If you disagree with an award, knowing someone else displays more skill, then nominate them and let the process work. If you don't nominate someone, then don't wonder why you haven't (not you personally, Kosst) gotten one in return.Without darkness, how could we measure the light?

Re: Ribbons
As a followup to Draeh's post regarding ribbon nominations... please consider this as well.
It is not uncommon for a ribbon nomination to be submitted for someone who is indeed well deserving of the award not pass the review due to the lack of detail and explicit description of why the individual deserves the award. The more detailed and thoroughly written the nomination is, the better chance it has of being approved.

Re: Ribbons
I'm sure there are hundreds of people on here that deserve ribbons and have not received them. There's a certain matter of luck involved with ribbons. You have to be lucky enough to impress someone enough to take their time to write a nomination. The 2142 community in general has been very tight with ribbon nominations.
When I was on the ribbons team I would see a 2142 scrim and maybe 3-5 nominations would come out of it. Then I'd see a PR scrim and 20+ nominations from many different people would be submitted. Now maybe there aren't enough events in 2142 to be recongized as there are in PR but I know I have seen several examples that I should have nominated but didn't, and I'm sure most people here have done the same.

Re: Ribbons
that is true but isn´t there a line that says that the admins who are reading it set a " yes / no / no- need more details " under the nomination if something is wrong instead of just closing it? cause if you put ( in my case based on my bad english ) like 15 minutes and more into a nomination.. and there is absolutely no reply on it .. it´s just closed and you don´t know whats going on now. because that is kinda frustrating and keeps you away from writing nominations.

Re: Ribbons
There is the nomination and then there is a voting poll that is posted along with the nomination in the admin forums.
When your nomination in the "Submit Nomination" forum is closed, this means that the nomination has been presented to the admins in their forum. If there is additional information required it will be asked for as a reply to your nomination, or an admin will inquire by PM.
