Re: Nickname
I don't think I've explained my names...
SilentSunshine was just an attempt at making my main online pseudonym (SunshineInMySoul) sound not so "I'm-an-idiot-shoot-here-ish" for 2142. The full thing didn't fit anyway and I do tend be on the quiet side. I got the inspiration for BronteStorm when I was reading Charlotte Bronte's life for Librivox. Bronte was 'Brunty' a generation or two before the sisters and in Greek it meant thunder. I love thunderstorms; I had to make BronteStorm. I should say BronteFan needs no explanation!

Dillweed is an insult from the 90s or around then. Haven't you ever watched Beavis and Butthead!

Re: Nickname
My name in bf2 and a few other games was directrealist. Directrealist was difficult for most people to say, so I knew I needed something simple. If you are wondering,
direct realism is a philosophical position that claims the world is real, and we perceive it without the need to resort to mental representation. This is the world view I subscribe to, so it made sense to call myself a directrealist.
I teach statistics and experimental methods for psychology at a small liberal arts college in upstate New York. I wanted my name to reflect my personality and philosophical disposition. "Science" seemed like a good fit, but it was taken. I went with substituting in the 1 since it looked close enough. Hence, I am now known as sc1ence. Most call me "cy" for short. I play variations on the name in other games. For example, cyence is my name in warhammer online and will also be my name in Aion.

About Beavis and butthead, I would not say, best superhero since I don't think they are hero !!
But anyway, thanks for sharing your story with us guys. A Nickname is something that can follow you for a while. It's always interresting to know where everyone takes their inspiration.

Re: Nickname
ADDJenius- former ADD, Genius. I had it since I was 8 or 13..
Rendeli- Didn't like ADDJenius anymore. Used it for TFC. Based on Rendili Star Systems from Starwars. <3Starwars
Fruvous- Designed a random name generator, and *poof* Fruvous. Apparently, it's also the name of a music group.
Ywlgogryth- My future alias. Sounds like yogurt.Without teamwork, you'll never survive.
Without betrayal you'll never win.

Re: Nickname
It's not his best work, I'll give you that (I think I'd nominate the Sarantine Mosaic for that honour). But you have to admit, it's amusing that a name from that book causes confusion about your nationality, considering that the whole book is, at one level, about a nation and its people's sense of identity or loss thereof

My name is because I really really like kneesocks and wear them all fall and into the winter, until it gets too cold for any bare skin. I especially like interesting colours or prints, particularly argyle. The name was even more apt this year, as I crashed running in late Jan. and couldn't stand having tights over the loonie-sized hole in my knee, so wore them five days a week to work.

Re: Nickname
I used to play Rome: Total War so that's where EmperorMustard's journey started. I created a character called 'EmperorAuMustard', as is 'EmperorAugustus', the great Roman Emperor. I sure as hell don't know why I chose 'mustard' as I hate the stuff and get a little bit peeved when McDonalds put it in my 1/4 Pounder with cheese. But something inspired me to put the horrid stuff in my name and there you have it. Atleast it's different to Killa1!!1!lulz or whatever was my second choice pick.
Oh yeah, I dropped the 'au' after a while because it just wouldn't fit.
|TG-Irr| EmperorMustard
Contrary to popular belief, I am not actually an Emperor, or a Condiment.
Men should either be treated generously or destroyed, because they take revenge for slight injures - for heavy ones they cannot. - Niccolo Machiavelli

Re: Nickname
Back in the days of Starcraft I started out as QuickStriker, then moved to Str!ker for my Quake III days. During my time in Quake III I started a clan called Rogue so my name was [Rogue]Str!ker. When I moved to BF2142 I kept the Rogue on my name since striker is a pretty common name. And that's how RogueStriker was born.

Re: Nickname
Dorb.. hmm how did I get this nickname? Ha, Well my old man played this game called Anarchy Online, and well.. He was a Atrox Enforcer, basically a big old tank. Who which he just said is, just a Dorb, or IMA Dorb, and from there he played 2142 and put the name Dorb out there. So yeah, I started to play BF2142 under his name and I just kept the name because everyone knew it was me, not him so.
If anyone wants to know my original name is was Jester / NyghtJester.

Re: Nickname
Hey, I'm zew, ze.
Zew/ze it's not my real name (perhaps some think so), nor it's the name of my doggy or my next girlfriend; it's not the way I used to call my boss (... him!) or any kind of a name of a small and lost river back in Siberia (nooo!). We are the people, who live in that cold, unwelcomed and poor barbarian country you called Russia, don't even have such sounds in our language (maybe only zewzewka will fits fine
). In English it means not as much as it's in Russian. Let's say clear - it means absolutely nothing. Nothing!!!
So it's cleared I guess
Now, how did it penetrate into my dull and gray noodle.
That lucky day I was sitting in my kitchen. Apparently I was reading some paper or I don't know. Was having kind of tea break, you know - a paper in one hand a tea cup in other, scratching my nose by third one - but it's not so important, right? So there I am sitting - and suddenly: zewwezwez, zewzewwezzewzewzeww!.. A Fly! Zewwewezewwez.. Three times it's landed to my haircut, five or six to my hands, one time to teacup (almost spilled it!) and one time - right to my nose! Oh man! I certainly tried to kill that little annoying villain, but missed the target and what's more! - broke down my cutie fridge hitting right in front of its door by my left fist... Okay, after I calmed down I thought: Why can't I call it like.. fly.. zzz.. ze.. - zew!
So, thanks to that little flying beast, now I'm Zew or Ze. Justa call me like this!

PS: ..45s means much less than zew, just forget it!Last edited by zew45s; 08-26-2009 at 01:17 AM.
