Ribbons: 2 for me, none for you.
Thats how it's playing out. I see the same 3 people over and over nominating for ribbon awards. While that's great for them, we have another 200 members saying nothing here in 2142. You mean to tell me the rest of you see nothing special? Something that makes you think "how did he do that?" or "I can't believe he's still alive!"
I want you all to go and play like you normally do. I want you to write down someone who's also deserving of an award. Do go out of your way to make a halfass suggestion. I want a full AAR write-up of why this person is deserving. I know there are a ton of derserving people out there in need of a Medic award.
Here's a real nomination that was passed a few weeks ago. Of course the names are taken out.
There also also nominations that are linked directly to AAR's posted in the forums. As long as they describe the player up for the award, that also works. Don't be afraid to nominate people in your own IHS. We don't see nominations as favortisum because you play with these people 90% of your game time and tend to see their abilities much more then anyone elses. Watch out for broad nominations like, "He always revives on time and doesn't get himself killed." These rarely get passed unless the admins know this player is a server best for the nomination. One last tip, lets say your player isn't a good medic, but just pulled out 4 revives and keep his squad going to cap for a win. While most of the time the player sucks at it, he still displayed above his normal ability to play and this is very deserving of a class 1 award.

Great reminder, Eroak! Let's all get out there and be better about letting our TG brethren know they are appreciated!

Re: Ribbons: 2 for me, none for you.
200 members? active in 2142? wow.
Here's my problem, I have great rounds with my squads. We pull off some amazing things every so often or one or two will pull some awesome Pilum shots to take down a tank or APC covering our position, but it's one shot, one time in one battle. To me that's just part of the game, it was a great shot, but not anything special.
All of the examples that we're given on ribbon submissions are freaking books. I can be long winded, but it's hard for me to come up with something that I consider worthy of a ribbon submission. I'm not going to waste my free time writing up nomination after nomination and worry that they're not going to be deemed worthy of submission because of the content.
The people I always want to nominate are the ones that stay with me to defend Trenches (like last night) and hold it with droves of guys coming to try and take it back then pushing through and taking Warehouses on Shingle or on CareBear my squad hanging onto Southtown the entire round despite losing offices, church and roadblock. But it was my understanding that the Distinguished Defense nomination had to come from the commander of the round, otherwise, I'm nominating my just my squad? Well after rereading the requirements for the defense ribbon I guess I was wrong. To the squads that were with me that night, I'm sorry, you all definitely deserved that ribbon.
But as to the individual kit ribbons, the people the deserve that are the ones who revive us in the middle of firefights and there's seemingly just too much going on to remember it after the fact, or even tracking who is doing the revives...
Well I'm going to go back and read all of the ribbon requirements again so I don't miss possible nominations.A captain of the most awesome IHS ever and remember to burn before you pillage.

Re: Ribbons: 2 for me, none for you.
Also, do we ever find out why a nomination doesn't go through that we submit?
I know when it's been brought up in our 8th forums before, we've had people say that they've submitted someone for a ribbon, but they simply never hear anything. We do NOT talk about names, but it's disconcerting that if you submit something you don't know if you wrote it up wrong or if it was decided the person was not deserving.A captain of the most awesome IHS ever and remember to burn before you pillage.

Re: Ribbons: 2 for me, none for you.
Hear Hear !
I have written up a nomination or two but Im not sure if they went anywhere. I then ( as catman pointed out ) saw the 'substantial' information in the example nominations and thought that I needed to back off until I had more experience with players in order to write a 'valid' nomination with the 'proper' amount of information.
You may want to consider creating some awards that arent as difficult to earn so that they may be handed out less judiciously.
Likewise, some sort of feedback on the nominations would be nice, as it is now they go in the slot and thats the last you hear of it ( you arent even allowed to tell people about the nomination from what I hear in the grapevine although I havent found that posted anywhere )

Can we have a "Catman" Ribbon where we nominate people for fun only?
