Re: Meet your SL

Name: Flummer
Age: 15

2142 Experience: ~1.5 year
SL Experience: 50 % of the time ive played
TG SL experience: ~3 months

SLing style: Frontal assault. ordering the squad to spawn on me the second after i spawnt and then go for the first flag on foot (depending on how big the map is). im a fan off flanking teqnices (excuse spelling) so i usually ordering my squad to get up on a building near the flag were i plant a beacon and from there we support the other squads.

My greatest weakness: Sometimes not so happy. Crappy internet connection.

Advice for CO's: Give me the order and ill do my best to perform it. u will often here a comment from me but i WILL follow the order

Other Comments: Bewere, im sure some off you, have seen my with a knife.

Re: Meet your SL

Name: LaezarFox
Age: 21

2142 Experience: 2 yrs
SL Experience: 2 yrs

Description of SLing Style: Free range. I usually have no preference to kit spawns and if a heavy presence isn't required I'll let some squad mates go off and do their thing. Also I believe the success of my squad is my responsibility so I'll generally take point and call in mates if I need some assistance.

Offensive-minded or defensive-minded: As per situation. I'll go where I'm needed and call my squad in for assistance if needed.

What is your philosophy for SLing: Coercive Inducement. Bring just the right amount of force to make your point and achieve your objective, excess force means less troops else where.

Name your greatest weakness: Sometimes I get over excited and I'll leap before I look.

Advice for new SLs: Keep chill.

Advice for COs: When speaking over VOIP please specify which squad you're speaking to and be decisive. No "I need someone to attack outpost." we can't talk amongst ourselves through BF2142 and not everyone uses teamspeak so we can't decide who will do it.

Any other comments: Don't be overly ambitious, nothing like trying to not get noticed only to have THAT GUY alert EVERYONE to your squad's presence because they couldn't keep their darn weapon in their pants.

Age:34

2142 Experience: 1.5 years
SL Experience: 3 months

Description of SLing Style: use encouragement as whip and teach the art of respecting your enemy ! since I play with different soldiers all the time I let the squad form its own loadout and work with the kits they are comfortable with......changing my style to suit whats lacking. This brings out natural strong points.

Offensive-minded or defensive-minded: defensive minded in general attacking flags defensively as in joint assaults on flags with my squad supporting the attack squads or running intererance for team movement.

Name your greatest weakness: lack of quick thinking when surrounded. slow to find tactical solution for unsuccessful assualts.

Advice for new SLs: Never complain about your enemies tactics while in game. never bad mouth commander while in game.

Advice for COs: dont show your frustration to your team in battle and dont critique squads while in battle as long as they are attempting to carry out orders show them some encouragement and support . use the admin reporting feature when Sl"S arent following orders

SLs philosophy:The purpose of the "game" (fight , challenge ,war , competition )is not to win or lose but to play the game. The game shows us our strengths, weaknesses its shows us who we are and how to bring what we are into a state of balance or harmony.

SL Experience: 5 months

Description of SLing Style: Hmm. Fun in mind. I love playing this game for what it was intened for. Fun; if someone goes recon, I'll ask if they ask next time. If I want to run a RDXPIE squad, I'll keep in mind what the teams needs but I'll still go blow up my RDX
Offensive-minded or defensive-minded: Defensive as of late. But I will go on a offencive if our team needs it.
What is your philosophy for SLing: Get the job done and get it done right. When I do assault a flag I'll get my support to place his IDS nearest to the flag as he can, then I will hide and stay a safe spwan point. When the flag is capped I will get my squad to do a sweep of the suronding buildings.
Name your greatest weakness: I'll leave a becon in a easyly campable spot..

Advice for new SLs: Stay calm and don't over do the orders

Advice for COs: When I'm on the other side of the map and have a full squad attacking us DON'T tell me to go attack some flag.
Any other comments: Look when going for a direct assault stay back and safe.

Re: Meet your SL

Name: Frozenchrome
Age: 38

2142 Experience: 1.5 year
SL Experience: trying to gain some

Description of SLing Style: I am a ground pounder through and through. I am able to formulate the initial plan and have it changed in a heart beat. I don't mind given the SMs enough freedom to get the job done as long as I am informed. I am always open to suggestions as I am still learning the ropes.

Offensive-minded or defensive-minded: More like scatter minded though either way goes well with me. I am still seeking my direction.

What is your philosophy for SLing: Through experience will I learn to squad lead.

Name your greatest weakness: I tend to run into the heat of battle without very little situational awareness.

Advice for new SLs: Just keep at it.

Advice for COs: Please consider the time it takes a squad to travel to a given flag before asking them to huff it halfway across the map.

Any other comments: For the veterans who join me, any and all advise in play is welcomed! For everyone: Q-Spot, Q-Spot, Q-Spot!!!

Re: Meet your SL

Name: Aumen
Age: 30

2142 Experience: 2.5 yr
SL Experience: 1.5 yr

Description of SLing Style: I am not conventional. I have out of the box plans that are proven to work, but they require my squad to be incomplete understanding. I try to enable my team members best by giving them my perspective of the battlefield and how I wish to engage it.

Offensive-minded or defensive-minded: It depends on how my team is doing, what needs to be accomplished; in respect to bleed and also what kind of squad I have (i.e. Learn TG or a bunch of hotshots).

What is your philosophy for SLing: Give squad members something to do at all times - teach, learn and have fun.

Name your greatest weakness: I can get caught up in a fight to long and loose my battlefield awareness.

Advice for new SLs: Ask other seasoned SL's for advice and be vocal with your squad.

Advice for COs: Drop the #$%@* box please.

Any other comments: As a squad member if you are unsure about a tactic or why we are going the direction we are going - ask.

Re: Meet your SL

Just a Redo of mine

Name: Tigerblitz
Age: 13

2142 Experience: 10 months
SL Experience: 5 months

Description of SLing Style: I like to keep my games good and fun. Lately I have been in a tactics slump(meaning I forget my tactics in the heat of battle) so I just try to have fun with keepin in mind whats good for the team.

Offensive-minded or defensive-minded: A bit of both. Something about running into a hot flag just gets my blood going, but replying wave after wave of enemies is great as well

What is your philosophy for SLing: Get the job done and get it done right and have fun well doing so. When I do assault a flag I'll get my support to place his IDS nearest to the flag as he can, then I will hide and stay a safe spwan point. When the flag is capped I will get my squad to do a sweep of the surrounding buildings.
Name your greatest weakness: I can be easily out thinked
Advice for new SLs: Stay calm and don't over do the orders

Advice for COs: When I'm on the other side of the map and have a full squad attacking us DON'T tell me to go attack some flag.
Any other comments: Look when going for a direct assault stay back and safe.

Re: Meet your SL

Name: Mercenary90
Age: 15

2142 XP: ~1 year
SL XP: ~3 months

Description of SL style: If you are in my "Meh" squads, it's usually lazy. If not, it's going to involve rushing towards the enemy screaming "BANZAIII" and dying a lot.

Offensive vs. Defensive: Usually attempt to be offensive unless in a stalemate/explosives trade such as Central/Ruins.

Philosophy: Find the enemy, close distance with the enemy, kill the enemy. My opinion is that only when the enemy is down can flags be capped effectively. Therefore, taking the high ground can take higher priority than taking the flag.

Greatest weakness: Lack of patience.

Advice for new SLs: Try not to get shot.

CO Advice: Coordinate commander assets with individual squads in order to maximize effectiveness. Use gunship/transport squads as impromptu fire-support, assign squads objectives individually instead of stating "OH NOES A BREAKTHROUGH SOMEONE KILL IT WITH FIRE LOLOLOL".

Other comments: Don't take the game too seriously.

Re: Meet your SL

Name: |TG-128th|O'Niell
Age: 17

2142 Experience: ~2 years
SL Experience: ~1.5 years

Description of SL style: I am generally a focused leader with a clear idea of what I want coming into a round. After that, I make my tactical decisions based upon the current battle factors(bleed, current player layout, opposition...). Generally, my squads can expect a mid-tempo game play with times of intense "RUSH THAT FLAG" moments to, "sit tight here guys; we're gonna defend".

Offensive vs. Defensive: Usually attempt to be offensive unless in a stalemate where we are on the losing side and a breakthrough is necessary.

Philosophy: There's always another battle. If an objective is gonna take too many tickets at once, then it can be scrapped or postponed until the lines soften.

Greatest weakness: At times, I can be too dynamic and come across as not knowing what I'm doing.

Advice for new SLs: Try not to think about it to much. Being scared and analyzing every move you make is costly to time and tickets. It can cause you to hesitate for a split second too long and you lose the game.

CO Advice: Talk to me about what you want. Tell me a general idea how you want it done and leave me alone. Rest assured we WILL go for it as soon as we can. Often times we're pinned down by enemy fire and I may not move my order instantly, but I will do it and I will ALWAYS say so over VOIP.

Other comments: Remember, this is a game.

Re: Meet your SL

Name: |TG|Fruvous
Age: 21

2142 Experience: ~1 year
SL Experience: ~1 month

Description of SL style:
During prep, I will explain squad's objective, backup plan, and its restricted areas.
I will ask for kit volunteers. Others are assault medics, or best kit (if exceptional with a certain kit).

Apply pressure to a weak area. Defend a weak area. That's my motto.
Flags can make a strong area into a weak area.. or standalone is weak
Beacons provide access to weak areas (and protect our weak areas)
Terrain, 2+ squads, enemy positions, enemy idleness is a force multiplier.

Greatest weakness: Never trick me into saying my name backwards. Also, sometimes I do something, guessing on what a friendly squad will do. Sometimes, that squad won't - and then those sometimes we fail. Also vehicles.

Advice for new SLs:
Your map is a great asset. Your squad is your greatest asset.
When approaching a flag: Grenades first, bullets second, people third.

CO Advice:
Orbitals against infantry: Glorified smokescreens (which is actually useful)
Orbitals against vehicles: Use with EMP
You can use about 2 orbitals for every 1 EMP.

Other comments:
Sinned Nosneb.
Also, interesting dynamics make for interesting games.

Motto: Never eat shredded wheat. That's my motto.

2142 Experience: 2.5 year
SL Experience: Some

Description of SLing Style: Taking up SL position once every so often only- Usually ends in my Squadmembers dieing alot.

Offensive-minded or defensive-minded: Either brutally offensive or turtle style defense - nothing in between

What is your philosophy for SLing: Why are my SMs Ears bleeding? Is it my yelling or the last frag?

Name your greatest weakness: Trying to be too perfect

Advice for new SLs: You will suffer... alot

Advice for COs: Spot those dots out mang!

Re: Meet your SL

Name: Zoraster
Age: 73

2142 Experience: Since release
SL Experience: Quite a lot.

Description of SLing Style: I talk a lot when I'm SL. I play for the win every time I SL, which can mean taking some of the less interesting jobs (such as pretending statue when there's no assault) During these times, I try and remind my squad what a good little squad they are for not straying. More than this, when I move, I move fast and I expect my SMs to keep up at a word. Many have trouble doing this, and I'll (mostly in a reasonable measured voice) tell them of my displeasure.

Offensive-minded or defensive-minded: Despite the "boring jobs" idea above, I go from defensive to attacking very quickly. Hesitation is the death knell of many a squad.

What is your philosophy for SLing: I kind of described it above.

Name your greatest weakness: Perhaps expecting too much from squad members who don't have extensive experience with me.

Advice for new SLs: It can be a tough job, but your voice is the thing that can keep a squad functioning as a unit. Don't stop talking. Remember also, it's your job to be aware of the game. As a SM you can focus on just playing the game as well as you can. As SL you need to be focused on how to win the game.

Advice for COs: I agree with Lyra. If i'm not being spammed by your spotting, you're not spotting enough.

Re: Meet your SL

Name: Crux
Age: 31 (for now)

2142 Experience: A little after release
SL Experience: 500 hours, give or take.

Description of SLing Style:
Adaptive infantry play. I am always looking for ways to attack the enemy at their weakest point. This means often rapidly changing directions, objectives and methodologies. I try to be the scalpel when a scalpel is needed, and the hammer when the hammer is needed.

Offensive-minded or defensive-minded:
Mostly offensive minded. I'm not against defending when it is the smartest play available, but my idea of a better defense often involves making the enemy put their attention somewhere else and hence easing the pressure.

What is your philosophy for SLing:
You have to constantly evolve and adapt to the circumstances as they are, not as you'd have them be.
Match your biggest strengths against your enemies' greatest weaknesses.
Always be one step ahead.

Name your greatest weakness:
Some days I get a little stubborn. Sometimes I get frustrated when there are three flags, my one squad manages to take one and the entire rest of my team can't hold the another one :P

Advice for new SLs:
Put yourself in the shoes of your enemies. What is their best move? Given that, what should you do to take it away from them?
COMMUNICATE! If your squad doesn't do things right it is your responsibility.

Advice for COs:
Take care of the armor. Just please take care of the armor. We'll take care of the infantry (ie don't waste your fricking orbital strike on little red dots).

Why is SLing fun?
My fate is in my own hands.
Watching a squad come together and do things well is very gratifying!
