Re: Whats your reason?
Selfish reason: I can actually fly the aircraft in bf2142. I am referring to the gunship not the air transport which I cannot pilot. I have dabbled with the aircraft in bf2 in single player mode and I stink. The same was true of bf1942.
The second and most important reason: Learning tactics and teamwork on the TG server. I wouldn't have learned about them on any other server.
I have considered other games such as Frontlines but I am satisfied with bf2142. I should be I play it enough!!

Re: Whats your reason?
I still think BF2142 has the best interface and voip for squad play. The games are short enough where you can jump in and play 2-3 rounds to get your fix, then move on. The days of me playing 4 hours+ at a time are probably over, I've been playing since the game hit the shelves, but I still enjoy the differenct aspects of vehicles, serious small infantry play, and epic down to the wire battles.
With all that said, the reason I still play is because of the relationships I've made here at TG. My IHS members and many, many other individuals including server / forum regulars and folks from the other great IHS' make this the place, and 2142 the game that I keep coming back to.

Re: Whats your reason?
Believe it or not (though maybe it's not as big a stretch as I think), oftentimes I'm irritated by the graphics quality of "games past" like BF2.
I actually started out in the FPS world with Return to Wolfenstein, then I played CoD1 online for a VERY long time. Maybe even gave Stark a run for his money as a Medic
I've also played countless games of CS:S and even found a regular (non-TG) server which had teamwork on it but after a while, the hacking and the fact that my skill just didn't match up to seasoned players despite how much I played myself, made me quit for good.
Well, that, and all the porn sprays.
I like PoE and will give it more time, PR I will try again but typically it's too slow for my liking, and CoD4 wasn't much like anything I thought it would be in multiplayer. -but 2142 is a nice balance of things, the vehicles are a lot of fun, and it has a large and active community still.
After 8 months, it's definitely lost it's shine, but 2142 has yet to get boring and the community of course plays a large part in that. I imagine it'll still be my main FPS until something new and comparative is released in the future."But way back where I come from, we never mean to bother. Re: Whats your reason?
While 2142 on itself is a nice game, it's TG that actually makes it worth all the time I have invested into playing it. If it weren't for all the great players, the strategy, and everything only possible here in the TG community, I'd quit the game long ago. I don't want to play on public servers anymore - when you squad up and the VOIP stays quiet and the players just want to get a score as high as possible, bunnyhopping and statpadding around, I don't really think that the game is fun anymore. But thanks to TG, there is a place where I can enjoy 2142 as it should be played.
Also, another thing. Teamspeak. I really love the talking between the rounds, people telling us how they died in hilarious ways or how they crushed the other team with the APC (especially when it's Lyra who's at the mortar seat). I like the jokes pulled, and the squads named after them in the next match.
And, not to forget, the community itself, of course. This community takes playing video games to a new level, and I never had as much fun playing video games like now before joining TG.

Re: Whats your reason?
The first reason is the TG community, by far. I have been playing FPS games since Delta Force and progressed through the BF series to this point. I like the size of the maps, the mutlipe use of vehicles, the teamwork, the squads, the Voip, and the competition.
The excitement and challenges that the game and the players provide. The TS chat between rounds is also great fun.
Bottom line, it's the community.

Re: Whats your reason?
This is the first and only FPS I've stuck with, and I can honestly say that if I hadn't found TG, I wouldn't have kept playing. It's the teamwork, the excellent squad leading (and commanding, but I'm rarely an SL, so I don't see as much of that firsthand), the "had to be there" jokes on TS, and above all, the community. TG is like Nirvana -- the enlightened cannot explain it to those seeking the path, they can only offer guidance to that shining goal.
The downside is that I've been spoiled rotten by my experiences on the TG servers, and my tolerance for non-communicative pubbie squads is all but gone.

Re: Whats your reason?
Good people, good skills. Playing like a squad and a team should. Always enjoy a Reader squad or a Torres squad. When Latina kicks my ass it's more like a naughty slap......just joking Latina! Joking aside, I think you are becoming a better player and a harder match when we come face to face.

I suck pretty consistently but have my moments of brilliance so it's good to have both in good company. It's the good people that takes the sting out of the bad moments and takes the good moments to another level.

Re: Whats your reason?
The players, the teamwork, the 3rd, and all the other IHSes.
2142 is my premiere game, but I do love popping onto the PR server and POE now and then. Its the overall community here that's kept me, being in TGU, the events, and how we handle ourselves.

Re: Whats your reason?
That's a good question. Of course there's many technical reason like the quality of the game, VOIP, squad play, the fact that a game is taking 30 minute max instead of, for example, World Of Warcraft which is sooo awsome but taking like 4 hours for an instance. Also, the game help develop reflex, communication.. etc. Finally,my main reason is the TG server... so .. you guys. I love playing with you as well as I love playing against you. To have fun on this server, you have to anticipate, think, react, and have to do this quick. I would LOVE to try new maps every 3 months though.
It's a good question Eroak, and it's hard to give an exhaustive answer.

Re: Whats your reason?
If I may, I'll give my reason.
The game "FEELS RIGHT". No other reason. None of the BF's or other FPS 1st person. It's the feel of the game, and the vehicles. There are other games I like to play online, L4D, RSV, GRAW but all of those are small groups, this is the only one that feels right on a large scale.
After almost 2 years, it's the people that have kept me around. 2142 is a great game, and has met an exceeded the value meter on my chart, but to keep playing it after 2 years? That's the people that keep me here.Without darkness, how could we measure the light?

Re: Whats your reason?
Well besides the fact that I am dirt poor and this is the only FPS game I own I would have to say like most of you already did. The TG community is what keeps me going. I can still play on other servers for half an our or so, but then I just get bored and frustrated with the lack of teamwork and the cheap tactics. TG keeps the game interesting because when so many people are working as a team there is always going to be some new tactic that you never saw before, so you never stop learning and for me that definitely keeps the game alive. Also just the awesome people that I have met here and how much they have taught me, it just makes the game fun each and every time I play it.

Very well said Lusitano....."It's the good people that take the sting out of the bad moments" I have had only had a few really bad moments.... I can count them on one hand. I must say ..... I thank God for the good people and the fun we have. If it weren't for them....it would not be worth it. I'll be handing out more naughty slaps starting next week....so watch out
Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.
