Re: Teach. It's how we grow.

An important message, esspecially for me, as some nights I end up getting frusterated while leading around several snipers combined with a pair of support gunners in my squads. Those rounds always end up with minimal squad movement and tactics. I get so depressed about that fact I often forget some of the aforesaid snipers and support gunners might become good TG'ers eventually, if given the chance.

I guess I was lucky. I came to the TG server while young in-game (about a month or less). I may have not had a mic (never needed it before) and hardly knew the maps, but I never had to "unlearn" anything. That first round I played with Crux set me on a path I'm happy to have been on ever since.

Re: Teach. It's how we grow.

I still remember my first two days on this server.. first night of gaming was the map Belgrade ( i got pretty confused about that map at this time ) and oh boy.. i sucked big time. But i managed to join on of those TG-Lear squads leaded by Oniell. I got teached so much new stuff and basic movements that i thought my brain is going to explode.
What i just copied to my SLing what i liked very much at Oniell´s was... He was kinda explaining every order he just gave. It helped me to understand why i am going to put my body in the line of fire. To know the purpose.. is very important for new people. And at the next day i joined a squad leaded by DrBeat. The map was Camp G. and we where defending Ruins... I also copied one thing from Beat.. it was the way she talked to the squad. It was full of people like me who where new to that whole tactic think and we wanted action, blood, explosions, flying corpses, alcohol and cheap women... the usual stuff you want when your new. But she managed with her smooth talk to calm us down from our blood-lust and think twice before we act. the order was " i know guys you want action and this is going to be a bit boring, but staying here back at ruins is commander order so... " she needs to remind us a few times not to break out and slaughter people.. but she added the coolness in the way i give orders today..

So think about it. To every new people who is joining your squad or plays at your side you might be some one they are looking up to. they see your tags and your behavior. they listen to the way you talk and look at the way you act. ask yourself every-time if the way you play also the way you would like to teach? is that the way you learned the TG-way?
I got converted by people who teached me the TG-way by the way they act/talk and whatever and not with " do that because... / don´t do that because"
We as TG are teaching every minute we are wearing our tags... think about.

thanks for listening and sorry for that bad english.. it´s about 3:40 am here...

Re: Teach. It's how we grow.

I rember my frist day here at TG I joined a squad with black mirror leading I loved the way he led, the map was camp G and we were defending the center flag. And then he had to go and I joined a squad with Aqustforbeer the map was Belgrade, and we were defending playground/comtower. One thing I copied form him was his abilty to take charge. Then was me being a zhohar folower, I copied his ablity to keep a squad together and keep them under disapline.

Thanks to everyone who have helped me out here at TG Love yall

Of course not! Being in an IHS doesn't automatically make you better. Everyone here at TG has knowledge to share no matter IHS.

So you guys see what in-game teaching does? Just because I ran a learn-TG squad I influenced two people to join TG. Beat gets some credit too.

But my point is that I taught mirror, who then joined TG and turned around and taught someone else, who will then (hopefully) turn around and teach someone else! So let's go out there and teach! Join pub squads, run learn-TG squads! Run around and shoot your squad mates so that you can sow them how to revive under fire correctly(Zhohar..... ). Believe me, it's worth it.

Good heavens, no! I started running Learn TG squads as an Irregular before I got my supporting membership. If you feel like you have a good handle on what it is we do here--as you seem to have--go for it!

Re: Teach. It's how we grow.

I remember my first times on the TG server. I joind a squad lead by someone with a name I was affraid to say out loud. "Insunabula" After playing two rounds in his squad I was sure that TG will become my home of gameing.

Another individual I want to thank is the second SL I had rather often when I was new to TG. "MDFubar". This two made me confident, that TG is the way of gameing that suits me best. The way of gameing I've fallen in love with (ok sounded better in my head )

So ... Let visitors join your squad! Show them how we play - show/teach them the TG way

I wish I remembered everyone who led my early TG squads and got me hooked...a few people that I do remember would be AzuraRizing, Reaperassault, Arithea, Science,...I am sure there were more...but I have a terrible memory :P...but thank you all named an unnamed! Hopefully I will be able to pass on what I have learned!

Re: Teach. It's how we grow.

The first time with TG people was in Sc1ences advanced SL course. I played on the server, came to the site, and joined the class....I didn't know until later that he let me in even though I hadn't done the basic.....I didn't even know there was a basic.

Anyway, the point is that we all have some story that all goes back to someone in game. Whether that were actually trying to teach of not is not important. They did.

Re: Teach. It's how we grow.

Great thread everyone, thanks for starting it Arithea! Tg excels in teamwork and adatping to circumstances that are presented to us, we are disciplined in following orders and when you take the time to teach people these things...then they will follow. In the beginning the only SL that stands out in my mind was.............Bommando, I had the opportiunity to sm under him and he taught me things without knowing it. Crux is another who has gone to great lengths to teach people tactics and the TG way.
Rememebr that you do not need to be an SL to teach. Often when I am an SL I will hear other Tg SM's teaching our squad members things, why we are doing what we are doing, etc.
Everyone is a teacher!
