Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !

Building on vorlon's Q...

What is the most pathetically, hilariously, moronic thing you have ever done in BF2142?

- There once was a guy that when his SL said "I will do a cloak recon run on Berlin!" spawned in with EMP Grenades and tossed them at his SL.

- Some guy using a SAWW on Cerbere and actually getting 11 kills with it

- There also was this guy that emptied out all ammo of a kit. Then kitswitched it to a friend on the battlefield and ran away.

.... oh wait that was all me.... mmm....

There have been some other people doing stupid things, too.

- Finding a Beacon inside a Titan hallway late 2008

- People still abandoning vehicles when they get EMP locked

- Finding Rocket & Herzog Assault kits with no Defib

- People abandoning an EU Transport back then when th Roflcopter was big

- 2 out of bound buggies I(one EU and one PAC) on Tunis crashing into each other out of bounds south of Power Station

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !

A serious question this time (one I have in fact been thinking of posting about)

What would you say is the most underrated item/weapon/thingie in the game? Can be unlock or not, and by underrated I either mean totally taken for granted and used all the time without thought or never used at all.

The single thing that makes Battlefield into the thing it is:

The Defib

The Defib is kind of Arcady. Just point and click and the guy is back at 100%. Reality lovers pull their hairs out at this point.

But for a teamwork purpose the BF Defib creates a unique power balance where going for quick revives is the key to survive extended Squad VS Squad battles. It also creates the legendary situations of "the eternal Squadlead"

It also in theory EVERYONE on both teams is able to have a positive K/D. That makes both sides happy at the end of a good round.

A few months ago IŽd have put EMP Grenades here. But the religion was spread well !

Are they back at 100%? Lately I've made it a habit to have my hub out as soon as I make a res (assuming the area is already clear), but if they're at 100% already I've been wasting my time like a big idiot

Yeah in BF2 Vanilla and 2142 they are.

If you look at the Project Reality BF2 mod, people get revived with low HP and need to get patched up.

I believe the first and last items had me as a victim.

Dear Lyra,

Describe the versatility of right-click frag grenades.

Dear Lyra,

Right Click Grenades are awesome ! Grenades are one of the meanest weapons on the Battlefield.

You can right click for different amounts of time and then throw them at different speeds / ranges

You can even barely click the right mouse button and then throw while jumping to lob it over fences like on Cerbere Command center.

With alot of practise you can also "Airburst" Grenades over your targets. This means you toss the Grenade with a perfect timing to explode them just above your enemies head. This way there really is no escape from them.

Bonus Fact:

You can also HOLD DOWN the right mouse button indefinetly. This can lead to some wired results:

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !

BONUS Q & A:

Q: Lyra you Rocket and Grenade wench, can you give me more awesome spots to dominate people from?

A: Sure thing. When you are defending Command Center on Cerbere you should have a closer look at the fences.

At some spots there actually are gaps in them you can shoot Rockets thru or even toss Grenades streight down on any attackers coming up.

The best benefit is that even if someone sees you and you die - the revive on you will be piss easy.

If you mean tips AGAINST it there has been a long topic here:

http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...oflcopter.html

If you want to run a roflcopter you can go 2 ways.

The first way is to fill it up with soldiers. Gunners, Ammowhores, Pilot, Repairmonkeys... a full Squad. This makes a Roflcopter almost indestructable BUT makes a hugh impact on the battlefield. You will most likely miss people on the ground taking flags. This will A) make you lose the game and B) create a lot of AA fire from down there.

The second way I prefer. Just a 2 man team of Pilot and Combination Gunner / Repairboy. This way you wonŽt steal much steam from your ground forces but can still run a very succesful Transport. Just play carefully and retreat when under 70 HP.

As mentioned earlier learn to use the back outside view to fly. Then abuse your gunners ability to zoom in to make enemy footsoldiers life hard.

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !

Dear Lyra, I understand that if you implement physics correctly, you can air burst a 'nade across the expanse at Square. I have done this from one balcony to another, but why can't I successfully kill the enemy on the far balcony on the first try? I have also tried the Clark RDX in that experiment and it worked like a charm. What am I doing wrong?

Lyra, do EMP grenades only go off when they hit something or do they have a blow up limit?

How long is the life span of a grenade and what is its max distance?

Dear Lord Lyra,

Do you aim for the head with assault rifles/MGs/lamberts, or the torso?
