Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
Not that I know of. Battlefield 3 will come out some day. But EA been more than secret about it. Itīs like... "Ohhhhhhh look we have this donkey in our shack that sh*ts GOLD! But lets lock him away for some year and not care about it!". When BF3 comes out alot of the 2142 people would go play it. More like everyone. If we gonna like it or not... cannot tell yet of course.
Many games have been seen as the new thing. Frontlines was a hot candidate but in the end just sucked. Team Fortress 2 is awesome fun but not rly a game to replace 2142. Left 4 Dead is an awesome little game to play for us 2142 Vets. The Teamwork and communication we learned makes us into superior players there usually
Depends depends. Average is hard to say. Usually like 0-5 hours a day. Mostly on TG server. Didnīt go Pub Roflcoptering much lately.3) How many hours a day on average do you play 2142 and what percentage of that is played on TG servers?

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
Lyra,
After searching and reading the Recon tips threads in the tactics forum, I haven't found anything definitively explaining the recon's netbat.
Could you explain the advantages of having a recon netbat in your squad, and how exactly it benefits each squad member? In Order to Dance

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
Well everyone will get little diamond markers when an enemy disapears behind a corner.
But more important is that the Otus will scan and produce Minimapdots in a wide radius that surpasses an IDS.
BONUS WISDOM:
Recently we found out that the NETBAT helmet a soldier spawns in with will STAY even if you change kits around. So you can be a medic with a sniper netbat system when you pick up a medic kit. But on the other side when you are a medic and pick up a sniperkit there will be no Sniper Netbatbonus from it.

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
Yes, all the Helmet unlocks are purely for the Netbat. And yes, you can change your kits as much as you want. You cannot get rid of your original Netbat helmet.
On the other side I used it to come in as Recon with Otus and then change up to Medic while still having dots.

Exalted Lyra:
So what causes motion mines to scatter and bounce up and down across the map? I’ve observed this strange behavior on maps w/ & w/o air assets.

And oh lyra, what infantry weapons instagibs someone with one shot to the face, and which one doesnt at 30(ish) meters? (the standard engagement range IMHO)
I would like to know can i get that lucky shot off with my voss across the gap between the camp G buildings. You never know : )

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
Now I know I'm not Lyra but I've worked in the world of video games for a couple of years now and what seems to be happening is that the Motion Mines are keyed to the "Physics Coding" of the game. This has elements that run random algorithms to keep a natural 'feel' to environmental haphazard (such as being exploded into the air with arms and legs flailing around).
If the statement is true that tossing a Motion Mine into the water causes it to behave unnaturally then it's possible that the 'Games Engine' was never coded properly to recognize when a Motion Mine bisects the water geometry which then causes it to react with extreme dynamic physics.
Basically it's a 'glitch' that was never addressed in any of the previous patches and seems to still be a none-concern to EA.
Of course as I keep hearing, if Lyra is a god albeit a mechanized one, then he may just overrule my statement and say that it's "Magic in the Realm of 2142"

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
The last time I saw this phenomenon was on Suez Canal 32p. My squad set up at Trash Dump, I had mined the western bridge going towards Outer Bridge Lock with EMP and Motion Mines. Two FAV ran though several minutes apart. The first missed the EMP and dragged (using boost) the Motion Mines away. The second hit the EMP and the crew bailed. A minute or so later I noticed the motion mines bouncing up and down and moving eastward on both sides of the road. They may or may not have been my mines but they did come from the east and moved past my position (base of tower by bridge). There was no water near the mines that I know of.

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
I know one point i was playing on that one map with the Statue and Playground and Monorail (for some reason i can't think of the name). I was tossing motion mines on unsuspecting vehicles below, as I was atop the monorail near statue. As one hit the ground, it began bouncing like has been seen. So apparently, dropping them from very high will make them do that, and the best I can guess is because they clip through the ground very briefly whenever you deploy them, and if you drop them from up high, they clip through the ground pretty far, and I bet it slings them back up.

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
A side note: I have dropped Motion Mines into water on Verdun 32p at the fords (between Western Farm and Valley Farm). Both an APC and later a Tank had unfortunate encounters with said mines. The water is shallow but it didn’t appear that the mines rose out of the water but simply detonated as the vehicle rolled over them.
Of course my observation could be wrong.

Master EMP God Lyramion,
What is the deal with fences? Sometimes I can shoot through them and sometimes I can't. What would you recommend when it comes to fences? Are there certain weapons that are better for shooting through fences? I find myself having firefights through fences and losing b/c none of my bullets go through.
