Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
Dear Oracle,
Every time I'm playing Verdun, I always hear birds tweeting and chirping merrily. Did I imagine it?

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
It may also help if you have EAX environmental sound effects enabled under BF2142's settings. That should let you hear the birds better.

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
Are you sure that tweeting is not a missile lock tone?

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
Just a quick question...
What kills gunship pilots, besides blowing the whole thing up. I have seen Sudnik shot kill both gunship pilot and gunner while leaving the gunship empty falling down to ground and blowing up.
Is it possible to kill pilot with PK rockets for example, or does it have to be anti armor.
I have blurry memory about me shooting on a gunship front side and getting kill with PK rockets, haven't been able to do that again though!

It has to be something "mean". Gunship Missiles can do that. As can the Gunship main gun. Donīt think PK Rockets have a chance. Walker AA can do it, too.
Then again while flying the hitboxes might be out of order a bit making strange kills possible.
YES There are freaking Birds on the Verdun background track!
So hear for yourself go:
C:\Programs\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2142\mods\bf2142
open
Sound_client.zip
go to subfolder
Ambient
There you have all the bckground tracks in .ogg. Open Verdun Ambient with a suiting program. It is a total of 1.58 long.
- Around 1.10 a bird will start chirping for quite a while.
- Around 1.38 a bird will start singing really obvious

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
I am unsure of weather or not the Pilot can be shot out of the Gunship with PK-Rockets, however, I am absolutely sure that I have been shot out in that manner while gunning. My pilot and I were flying low cleaning up some infantry on a Silo with the mini-gun, when I suddenly died, while the pilot and ship remained in-tact. I looked up in the left corner only to discover I had been killed by some lame, but evidently well placed PK's from a common medic.
With that being said...I have flown many hours in the gunners seat of the Gunship, and this is the only instance in which I have been shot out by PK-Rockets.
I whole heatedly agree with the rest of the oracle's statements on this issue. Its all true. (of course!)

Yes, that's the bird I heard! I'm so glad I didn't imagine it. I thought I was going crazy from boredom when I was defending a flag that was seeing no action.

I live kind of near Moffett Field and a bunch of military contractor facilities, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were KILLER ROBOTIC BIRDS somewhere.

Re: The Oracle: Ask Lyra A Question !
Lyra, how can we improve the general level of play on the TG servers? Are there any major points that you think could use improvement?

We could send ppl to Pubby servers for 2 weeks so they learn how to deal with that and then come back hardened.
While TG is great it also can get too comfortable sometimes with revives and communication.

ABSOLUTELY YES!!!!
You'll never learn to cover your own ass if you constantly have 5 other people covering it for you.
