With almost 2100 hours on ranked servers (and Lord only knows how many additional hours on non-ranked servers), how do you keep from getting bored/burned out with 2142?

1) This often happens when you stumble accross some kind of Terrain piece (Railroad tracks eww) or jump down somewhere while reloading. So the only way to prevent this is to stand on even ground while reloading. (You are allowed to teabag while reloading tho )


2) Even with the increased damage per bullet, the Scar´s rate of fire is too slow in close quarter combat to outperform a skilled VOSS or Krylov user face to face. The Scar can shine in midrange picking off things. It´s deviation has been lowered severely after the patch and made it into a useable tool.

/Opinion ON: Personally I don´t like the SCAR very much. I rarely use it. It sounds like an old lawn mower and the scope doesn´t appeal to me. I´d prolly still prefer it over having a BAUR tho /Opinion OFF

Random fact: I remember someone once making a "scar ownage" movie to prove the scar was a good rifle. When you looked closer 70% of the enemies he killed didn´t even look at him




It´s true that 2142 has now to decomposed to a mere skeleton. Grinding the engine on some random pub server doesn´t have much appeal anymore.

This is where you guys all come in. While the game is a skeleton it´s a good one and people bring to life many cool and new awesome tactics. Fill it for me with awesome tactics and breakthrus and lots of teamwork and revives! Outsmarting, being outsmarted - AWESOME!

I've seen screenshots of squad leaders with 2 Otuses out, I can only assume this is because he popped an otus with his own kit, and then switched kits to revive and popped a 2nd otus.

Assuming this is the case, if instead of a 2nd otus, the SL popped an Accipter, would the diamonds from the Otus trigger the Accipter's guns?

If so would a Recon SL with an Otus, and a squad of people with Accipters with one Engie with PDS, and one Support with IDS, both placed on the Otus, be the ultimate in intel/auto-fire?

Also, is the Accipter's guns as ineffective on vehicles as most guns? (ie, only really hurts FAVs) Or is the power of those guns something unnecessarily special like the APCs mortars?

Yeah you can pop out multiple Otus and Accipiters from different kits. But once the corresponding kit is taken out of the game the drone will explode. Also having multiple drones above your head makes them scratch against each other and take damage.

I have seen the Otus trigger the Accipiter once on an attack on Cerbere. The Accipiter shot 3 enemies while we advanced up the hill. I do not think the actual Diamonds trigger the Accipiter. There is some kind of special invisible Netbat function that somehow only seem to trigger on unranked servers. You stare at an enemy for 2 seconds and they will begin blinking on your minimap WITHOUT anyone Q spotting them. This is the kind of netbat an accipiter locks onto. You could have a sniper on the hill just staring down people for netbat purpose lol

Also sometimes the Otus will create a minimap "Pulse" similar to an IDS. I bet this is what is supposed to happen but somehow doesn´t during normal play.


So yeah you could prolly create a hugh bulk of drones above your head. But to get to the other peoples kits you might have to TK them which is not allowed

Dear Lyra:

How critical would you assess the gunship on Sidi? Would you consider it something worth having someone camp just to keep it out of enemy hands (either with a tank, engineer or RDX recon or a pilot of your own)?

I ask because last night, my squad leader had me jump early from an early transport rush just to make sure we had the gunship. He also had me working the pad over during the round to make sure that either we got it or nobody got it.

And as a follow-up. If you have a sniper in your squad looking down the hill, do they actually need to see the person, or can the person be behind cover. If so, would you recommend, let's say on carebear, having a SL with an accipter lie prone behind cover with a sniper on the tower, when he spots people SL waits a few seconds then pops Accipter to start mowing them down?

How accurate/powerful is the accipiter? I'm assuming similar if not the same as a sentry gun?

This depends very much on the possible pilots on the Server. Once I obtain the Gunship on Sidi I usually try not to die for the remainder of the round. The Gunship on Sidi can be a cutting edge tool for taking out key enemy assets like their Transport and Walker.

Since there will be no opponent Gunship you will be pretty much free to roam and do whatever you want. It is such a great thing to have on this map.



So ya I´d say your SL did an excellent job there.






The Sniper has to see the persons name tag pop up while staring at them. So yes, you could have your SL there behind cover and the sniper stares the enemy down for them. Recommend that I would not since you could prolly do much more useful things meanwhile with your time. Why all the work for something a simple Sentry could do?

The Accipiter power is pretty bad. I´d say it´s even worse than a Sentry.

That's unfortunate =(, I was thinking something like a Sentry on the wall, with the Accipitor out and a Ganz in hand with a sniper covering from above. With 3 automatic weapons firing in a single direction with sniper fire weakening the troops coming up, along with the rest of the squad between you and the enemy advance on that hill would reak havoc to anybody trying to advance up that hill. Plus it's not all too hard to switch to the other side to defend.

Given that the Accipiter's dmg sucks tho, it'd probably be better to use the Otus to help your squad see people through smoke grenades/cover.

We all know your superior skills with rdx, but how do you do it? What usually happens to me when tight spot comes, for some reason even if I switch clicking blow button doesnt actually blow anything, but throws another rdx.

Does this ever happen to you of is there some trick to prevent this?

(oh and plz tell me how to get my signature picture into middle of it and not into left side )

This thing is bugged since BF2.

There is some way to make it work 100%. It´s how the bunnyhopping RDX people on pubbyservers do it with a macro so they can even detonate while jumping around. Toss RDX > switch to other weapon > switch back to RDX > Right Mouse button > Boom. Like said this is only really viable for a macro.


If you do it the normal way like me you just have to be patient n double check. After you toss the RDX press the right mouse button. Then wait.... it will switch to the detonater like 1-2 seconds after sometimes. If nothing happens press it again. It will always take some time to switch so try to not mash the right mouse button as that usually just results in getting switched back to the RDX packs.

The BF2142 knife acts like a gun with a 1 meter range. There is no slashing radius just a 1 time hit.

The best tip I can give you when someone tries to knife you is DO NEVER EVER walk backwards. Your soldiers body and hitboxes will always lag behind a little and make it very easy for the enemy to reach you. If you want to escape a knife always run forward and bypass your enemy as fast as you can.


On the other side when you are going for a knife be sure to have lots of sprint. When you run fast your hitboxes will lag behind somewhat. Even to the point where your PHYSICAL POLYGONES on the screen will PROTECT the invisible hitboxes behind you. It´s such BS but it creates those "I just fired half a clip into him and he still dashed towards me and knifed me" moments.

My ping is quite high, as is yours on TG server being in Europe, but are there any settings I can change to even it up a bit? It doesn't affect my game too much, and I accept that I may lose out on a few 1 on 1's, but I try to aim better, use cover or simply shoot in the back if I can.. I can hardly ever face my emeny in close quarters and come out on top. What do you do?


I often wondered why, but never really thought about it..

I told my DSL provider to activate "FastPath". Costs me about 1€ a month here. You can only do this if your lines are good. It disables some checks and makes the data getting passed to you faster. (costin money to leave something OFF ha ha !) But can lead to more checksum errors. This shoved off like 30 Ping and I get around 110 to TG server.


Ya a lot of my love for Rockets and other indirect fire weapons comes from my above average ping. Then again if you think about it... why would you want to give the enemy a line of sight if you could kill him anyway

I also demand IDSes and UAVs and other Wallhack items. When you see the enemy on the minimap around the corner you can actually predict when he will appear and open fire on the spot where he should be.

I want to upgrade my nvidia driver for gforce 8800 GTS 512Mb, to be able to play a few newer single player games
I have driver 175.19 and it works very well with 2142 and has no funny graphics moments
I tried 180.84 beta and they produces glitches for 2142
Which version can i upgrade to and still play 2142 without and funny graphics ?
