Teamspeak Mute
Don't you hate it when you're in-game, trying to hear, and some people keep blabbering in Teamspeak?
It can be disruptive to gameplay, and generally annoying when you're trying to focus.
I used to hate it, too. But then I took the 30 seconds to set up a mute button in teamspeak.
Here's how to have all the Teamspeak fun, without the gameplay headache:
Teamspeak->Settings->Key Settings->Add
Add a button to Set Volume at 0% (for mute) or 30% or so for reduced volume.
This allows you to effortlessly cut out unwanted chatter in-game, and still allow people to have fun and chat in Teamspeak.
Create another button to return Teamspeak to 100% volume.
*edit* i was being ironic with the 'idiots' thing. (as I was one of them earlier this evening.) No offense intended.Last edited by bb gun; 02-01-2009 at 01:18 AM.

Re: Teamspeak Mute
Just because they talk doesn't make them idiots, but it is annoying when it's overdone.
Second, our 2142 gemeral channal is for reporting infractions. So in reality, the admins are the only people who need to hear anything. Everyone can run muted and it would hurt anything so this might be a good thing for you to setup.The soldier formerly known as, Eroak.

Re: Teamspeak Mute
Please don't interpret this as a call to spam Teamspeak with chatter.
I just meant that by setting this up, you could eliminate it easily when it does occur.
An example would be the beginning of a round when people are still talking about the last round, but you're trying to set up your squad.|TG-9th| BBgun. - I'll put your eye out, kid.

Re: Teamspeak Mute
I've found it nicer to set keybinds like this:
ctrl+shift+plus => set volume up by 10%
ctrl+shift+minus => set volume down by 10%
This, coupled with a physical volume slider on my headset wire makes me find the right balance of game sounds and TS sounds really easily.
If the game is too loud, I lower the volume of everything with handset slider, but I turn up TS with the keybind.
If the game is too soft, I turn up everything, but lower the TS.
If the TS is too loud, I turn it down, if it's too soft, I just turn it up.
This may be confusing, but it's worth it to read through it twice. If you're using TS a lot, it'll make your life a lot easier. (Protip: things that will also make your life easier in BF2142: USB headsets.)Fight!

Yes, USB is the best IF for a head set. I have setup one of my keyboards with my TS hotkeys. I have the 2142 channel, volume up and down, channel up and down, mute, and a quick jump to the 9th channel. It's really nice.

1: Zho - Thank you for the keybind suggestions, I have proceeded to get mine set up because this has been an irritant for ages.
2: With all due respect for the intent of the general channel, by golly there is just too much camraderie flying around for me to even consider running with it muted most of the time.

Re: Teamspeak Mute
Correct me if I am wrong, wasn't there a gentle-person's agreement that during the last 45 seconds countdown before a map begins, people on TS would refrain from talking to allow SLs/COs to communicate their wishes?
