Re: Battlefield 1943 this summer
I'm looking forward to hear the details about this title. I'm most interested in knowing what direction they are going to take regarding the CO/squad based system of BF2/2142. Have their been any real details on these aspects to date?

What, can this be? Has the hell frozen?
EA actually pushing back a release of a game to make the game less buggy?

here is a bit of info about the PC delay, I find their reasons to be acceptable as long as they deliver on their words.

Re: Battlefield 1943 this September
This looks like a money spinner and nothing much more.
Using an existing engine, existing levels, existing mechanics (for the most part). Cut down role types, no unlocks. Same rehashed game mode. Conquest.
In terms of tactical game play that we here love it seems limited.
When 2142 was released it was really awesome. New maps, new surroundings, new game modes, new vehicles (love the battlewalker) and new weapons (yay rdx shotgun and rockets).
Then EA went and released rehashes of bf2/1942 maps in 2142 like it was new and exciting content. Ugh.
I can't really fault EA for wanting to make some money here because it can and should. But I'd like to see a game that carries on from bf2/2142.
I'd like to see the same type of game play that's in 2142 but with:
- more tactical assets to destroy/defend
- a titan-like game mode that doesn't crash servers
- more stable servers all around
- a theater of war we aren't all bored with yet (which is part of what made 2142 so good!)
- new maps

well, reading some of the stuff on here, particularly the link from reaper, my big bf1943 erection has gone. errr can I say that on here?
Guess we'll have to wait another 4-5 years before they release something really cool.

Re: Battlefield 1943 this September
Meh, unless it is over 24 players I won't even look at it. I've been in battles in Planetside and WWIIOL. I'm probably going to take a look at Huxley when it comes out. If I want a 24 player server I'll go play TF2. When I want squad level (or higher) play unless it's around 40+ players it isn't interesting.
As for game modes what else can there be but what we have? Titan is utterly boring to me and the ticket system for the other modes is quite unique. But what other modes could they put in? It isn't as if CTF makes any sense. Payload (ala TF2) might work but that would just be a variant of Assault now. The only other mode I could think of would start to replicate the PS/WWIIOL style of play where the capture points on a map are linked in such a way that you cannot just attack any ol' place. You have to follow the links. But that level is better served either in the round structure (TF2's CP maps) or in the MMO structure.
