When is BF1943 coming out?
on PC in September.
............
You can either form your squad before you join any server and make sure you play together. Or you can form ad hoc squads while you're playing as usual. There are also simple squad commands, so you can point at a flag to tell your squad to defend/attack it, depending on the flag. And of course there's VOIP between squad members.
......
Ranking and awards are mainly for bragging rights, so we don't have any unlocks per se. we wanted to make it a really fair experience.
.....
No beta, but we have a trial version that lets you confirm what you already thought - that this game is the best USD 15 I will ever spend!

Re: Battlefield 1943 this September
Heh, I liked the entry:
Peetry asks: What would you say are the most challenging Trophy/Achievement is in BF1943?
Gordon Van Dyke: Our Trophies/Achievements are generally more aimed towards nice behaviour to foster a fair game. But we do have our own awards, in the form of post cards and stamps, that'll make the most hardcore gamer sweat, bit if I had to pick one I would say the "Best Squad" award is the hardest to get because it isn't about just you to earn this.
Maybe we could get an IHS vs IHS competition to see how fast TG members can accomplish this. I'd give it a week tops for TG to complete

Re: Battlefield 1943 this September
That assumes that we buy it. Personally, I have no intention of doing so. It just seems....I don't know....too simple.

Re: Battlefield 1943 this September
No unlocks?
/facepalm
DICE dipped it's toe into the big pool and then went running back to the kiddie pool. First BF1943 being stripped down to 24 players then BF3 dropping unlocks?
I think that's begging for both to be a pass for me. I want more complex games, not simpler. I got tired of simple shooters right around the time of Doom.

Re: Battlefield 1943 this September
I, uh, didn't. I somehow thought the "no unlocks for 1943 meant BF3 because they both end in 3? *sigh*

matchmaking system
Remembered this detail that might help; There is one person the creates the Lobby and sets the Server to the map, once he invites one person (i.e. other clan leader if it is a clan match) and he invites people he knows that the lobby creator might not. The creator of the Lobby then manages the team and sorts who is on what team. So if friends want to muck about have your friends invite their friends. Bit tired today, so let me know if that makes any sense...

Re: Battlefield 1943 this September
quite informative FAQ
http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/b...ld-1943-a.html
Q.Will be able to spawn on the squad leader like in BF2?
A. We have improved squad support in 1943. Four man squads, with the option to spawn on any squad member instead of flags. You can either join open squads or create your own squads by inviting friends.
Q.When people get kicked from the squad......if the game is full, will they be kicked from the match for someone else to play?
A.The way it's set up now you can't kick people from squads, and you'll have to remake the squad (which is fairly simple). For squads you create yourself you just put set them to Private so only people you invite can get in.
Q.Could you Please clarify the team chat issue?
A.If you choose not to join a squad then you are in team chat. But if you are in a squad, Squads can either be in private squad chat, or remain in team chat.
Q.how will spawning be handled?
A.Three different ways to spawn in BF1943. Auto (close to the action), Flag (of your choosing) or Squad (any member).

Re: Battlefield 1943 this September
No unlocks is the way it should be. Had 2142 not relied on them so much, TG would not have them. It didn't with BF2, and it was the best experience.

Re: Battlefield 1943 this September
Only the most reputable game reviewers give starred ratings before a game has been released.
---
As if previews weren't already too laudatory and hype-inducing. RATING a game -- especially a multiplayer one -- before it's finished is absurd.

Re: Battlefield 1943 this September
Q.What classes can I choose from?
A.Scout(has sniper rifle and TNT and sword if you are japanese, beyonette if american) Rifleman(has semi-auto rifle and rifle grenades as well as a beyonette) and infantry(has sub-machine gun, wrench for repairing vehicles/melee as well as a bazooka).
