Re: [SOP: Ideas] Being a good Squad Member
- Let the SL know when you've been separated from the group or can't make it to the order
- Be descriptive about spotted targets: Note number, kits, relative location, and who is SL of enemy targets
- Let the squad know when you have downed priority targets
- When known, try to describe enemy movements (i.e. - spotted south, moving west...)
- Be Friendly! - No one is perfect, so don't talk like you are when someone else makes a mistake or a bad decision

Essential chat only. Keep in my mind that your SL potentially has 5 squad members to listen to, a commander to listen to, and potentially TS SL-SL to listen to. That's a lot of voices.

Re: [SOP: Ideas] Being a good Squad Member
pinky mentioned it I think its important ..
1.When moving to a location squad members move ahead of SL(have one SM Taking point ).
2. Have one SM covering six of SL at all times.
3. as default All squad memebers spawn on squad leader unless told otherwise by SL(someone else mentioned it I think all SM should know this and not ask every round whether to spawn in or not SL"S always say hold spawn when they have a special objective like grabbing a FAV ) .
4. as default if SL is down all SM's wait till SL spawns in unless told other wise by SL.
(I think this will help keep formations tight. often I notice when SL and SM's are down the SM 's will quickly spawn in before SL is on map then we have to waste time regrouping )
5. be encouraging and respectful when speaking on voip (penguine mentioned it I think its important for squad morale..)
6. NO complaining about tactics while in game save it for forum if your being frag and rocket bombed its jsut part of the game we should not complain about it while on voip it brings down morale " If you have nothing encouraging to say then say nothing"

Re: [SOP: Ideas] Being a good Squad Member
I know this has been said but showing respect for your fellow squad mates is key to enjoying the game, by this I mean you should follow orders as given and if someone makes a mistake they should not be screamed and shouted at, if there is screaming and shouting at a player it will just lower their morale and possibly make them leave the squad or the server altogether.
I have played a few times with members of the E1st and found them to be really forgiving to players and they will help you out without hesitation, in fact, if they were anymore laid back they would fall over...
... and they make the game really enjoyable, so much so that you go out of your way to play the best game you can.

Re: [SOP: Ideas] Being a good Squad Member
.
I have started writing this up, as below, more suggestions are needed, please keep your posts coming
I am making the video, is there anybody who really wants to do the narration ?
=====================================
Standard Oprating Procedure [SOP]
Being A Good Squad Member
Q-Spot a lot- ccc
- ccc
- ccc
- ccc
- The squad lead defines how much chat is allowed, it's their call, some SLs like a lot of in squad banter, other SLs just want to focus on the business of winning. The amount of banter is the SLs decision, don't continue with banter when the SL wants business. On the other hand, do join in the banter when the SL is encouraging chat. Follow the SLs lead either way banter or business
- verbal requesting/suggesting
- Get a mic check, just say 'mic check?' or 'is my mic ok?'
- When the squad leader is talking, be quite
- Ask questions in squad to learn faster
- Let the squad know when you have downed priority targets e.g. enemy SL, enemy tank / walker / APC
- ccc
- Don't group up so close that a grenade can kill you all
- ccc
- ccc
- ccc
- ccc
- ccc
- ccc
- Only spawn on your SL (green dot) unless otherwise told to spawn at another location
- ccc
- ccc
- ccc
- ccc
- ccc
- ccc
- ccc
- Squad balance, make a note who has what kit. Do you already have 2 supports in the squad? You dont need a 3rd. 1 medic and its the SL, you need to be a medic no mater what. Of course this is flex as needed. But the basic infantry squad should always consist of 3 medics and 1 support(IDS) at all times. The last 2 slots fill in with more medics, dedicated engineer or recon+odus.
- ccc
- When sniping target squad leads as a priority
- Recon netbat unlock together with squad lead otus, will put red dots on he minimap from the netbat
- The cloak is great for sneaking past the enemy
- The cloak and RDX are great for vehicle killing
- When RDXing assets put one each side
- RDX traps on flags clear the area for counter attack
- APM traps at infantry chockpoints should be set at the side, so they are hidden
- APM traps on flags are effective
- The defibs
- Always pack the defibs
- Clear area then revive
- Keep your squad leader alive
- If they are glitched and cant be revived then throw a medic hub on them
- PK rockets
- Rocket a lot !
- Method 1: zoom add 2m & fire
- Method 2: zoom target behind person & fire
- Method 3: zoom walk forward & fire
- Method 4: don't zoom, just fire !
- In defence positions put out the PDS vehicle scanner in a forward position, in the direction you expect they to come from
- If you're playing armour then put the PDS on your armour
- When you cap a flag immediately get your motions mines out to defend
- Especially put out mines on maps with one road as a choke point, eg Cerbere Landing or Berlin
- Don't bunch up your mines or one bait will get them all, conversely if you are in a vehicle then carry the bait
- Hit armour on the sides or the back, it does more damage than hitting the front
- Look for the repair symbol on the minimap for team-mates needing repairing help
- When repairing a vehicle get on the back side away from the enemy fire
- With the advanced repair tool (DysTek Repair v2.0) you can just drive up next to the vehicle to repair it, look for the repair symbol bottom right
- EMP nades are great to confuse enemy infantry
- EMP nades ar great to get an 'EMP lock down' on an enemy vehicle
- look for the resupply icon on the minimap and resupply your friendly infantry
- Put the infantry scanner on key infantry routes
- Put the infantry scanner on your squad lead's Otus
- Sentry guns are good at a distance over open ground

Re: [SOP: Ideas] Being a good Squad Member
I'll give it a go, although I already gave some response to verbal spotting and don't see what else I can add. For Q-Spotting, well we have an entire SOP on spotting correcty, I'm not sure if you need to make a part of the Squad Member SOP, if you do, it could just be a bullet point saying "Q-Spot when you see enemies" and adding a url around it to the Q-spot SOP.
Only other thing I can say about spotting, and even having your character making any talking noises such as when you Q-Spot, if you are sneaking behind enemy lines and do not wish to be detected, such a sound may alert opposing forces in the vicinity to your presence.
Stick with your Squad
- Not staying with your squad can be detrimental since it not only weakens your squad with one less soldier, but if you take a detour and get killed without any squaddmates around you, and that's a ticket loss to your team. Also on a server on TG it's very rare that a lone-wolf can make a huge difference to the game since they'll quickly be wiped out by the larger force they'll inevitably come across.
- Squad Leaders will warn, and possibly kick a Squad member who strays from the path they have set.
Move with your Squad
- Keep check of all angles. This doesn't mean try and run backwards with your squads. This means if you've noticed that most of your squad has just been sprinting forward for a while and is probably not looking all around, you should perhaps take up that responsibility an take a quick glance in all possible directions. Should take a few seconds only to analyse the situation and gain situational awareness of your area. Also do this when moving towards an area that you think will probably have enemies.
Get on the flag when capping
- Spacing applies here as well.
- Don't all pile on the flag(This setup that Lyra puts forward of 2 on the flag, then 2 covering them then 1 on the SL is not quite enough bodies on the flag for me personally, but the idea is to not let the entire squad leap on the flag). Keeping a couple men back in a safe position (especially SL, since they act as a spawn point) is usually a better idea.
- Hide well, try to be in a position where it is hard for you to be picked off from far, while covering any angles where you think you could possibly get hit from distance.
- Look for enemy RDX/APMs/IDSs and any other dangerous enemy equipment on the flag. Alert your SL to them ASAP, and if they are destroyable (IDS), get rid of them quickly.
- If the capping suddenly stops, be aware that an enemy is now within capping range, and therefore close to you. This has saved me from a humiliating knife kill from behind many times, as well as eliminating the immediate threat.
Listen to your Squad Lead's verbal instructions
- Ummm...
- If you are not sure about any orders from the SL do not be afraid to ask for them to be repeated. Try to pay best attention first time though so as to avoid splitting your Squad lead's focus.
- An "All Right" with the PgUp button can assure your SL that you have understood an order. Takes precious little time and effort, and avoids actually having to press VoIP and speak.
Spawn Discipline
- Ask if you are unsure of where to spawn, since where you spawn will make a huge difference to your SL and your team, and once you spawn in, you can't change it, so get it right.
- Holding spawn is an order given by SLs, and it is when a squad/solider deselects all spawn points, and waits for the Squad Lead to tell them to spawn in, usually on their spawn beacon
Look at the minimap every 2 seconds
- If you see enemies that are a potential danger to you and your squad, point them out quickly, and give a rough direction. If you can see the enemy on your minimap, your squad should be able to see it on theirs.
Use the Comm Row commands to request medic or ammo or repair
- Increases speed of request.
- Gives your position on the minimap to those whose services you require, allowing them to find and help you quicker.
Keep your squad lead alive
- Necessary to allow squaddmates who died to spawn in.
- Other SL tools are huge assets to the squad.
- SL is the most important person in your squad, pu their safety before your own if necessary.
Kit selection in the squad
- Ask SL what kit is required if you were not assigned one.
- Requesting to play a certain kit is fine. Insisting you play that kit is not. (I never played Assault till I came to TG
)
- If circumstances change, request SL if you can change your kit, e.g. Troublesome armour appears, so you request coming in engy.
- Always notify SL if you are planning to switch kits, and if they tell you not to, that is a direct order. This is so the SL has a constant grip on their squad's capabilities and characteristics, and their tactics will often be effected by that.Anger is a gift - Malcolm X

==================================
Standard Oprating Procedure [SOP]
Player Kits
Recon Kit SOPs- When sniping target squad leads as a priority, on TG servers the squads leads are key and taking one out helps to close down a whole squad
- Recon netbat unlock together with squad lead otus, will put red dots on he minimap from the netbat. This is a quick where anyone in your squad looking at an enemy will put a red dot on the minimap for your squad
- The cloak is great for sneaking past the enemy, often used by squad leads to penetrate past enemy defences
- The cloak and RDX are great for vehicle killing, this is a real alternative to engineers or pilums. Some really good walker crews can fall prey to the RDX cloaker
- When RDXing assets put one each side, then it only ever takes 2 per asset
- RDX traps on flags clear the area for counter attack, the flag going grey is the trigger to blow the RDX
- APM traps at infantry chockpoints should be set at the side, so they are hidden
- APM traps on flags are effective. This helps to slow an enemy flagcap or even scare them off the flag when they get close
- The defibs
- Always pack the defibs, on the TG server it is 100% expected that an assault guy will carry defibs
- Clear area then revive, there are 15 secs to revive that is plenty of time, so make sure the area is clear before reviving, there is no point on just going for the revive and getting shot and then having two downed guys calling for a medic
- Keep your squad leader alive, as the spawn point they are the core of an attack or defence, as a habit keep track of them on the minimap and revive them as a priority
- If they are glitched and can't be revived then throw a medic hub on them
- PK rockets
- Method 1: zoom add 2m & fire
- The top of the 'T' sight is where the distance is taken
- Target the barrier that they are hiding behind
- Zoom in
- Use the mouse wheel to add 2m (the distance is shown in zoom/scope mode)
- Raise your weapon, as rockets loose height in flight
- Fire ! your rockets are now set to airburst 2m behind the barrier
- Method 2: target behind person, zoom & fire. You can target an object immediately behind a person, like a wall, and just fire without adding distance with the mouse wheel, relying on the splash damage radius to kill the person
- Method 3: zoom walk forward & fire. By walking forward you are adding distance and the rickets airburst behind the barrier
- Method 4: don't zoom, just fire ! Shoot at objects around the person, even at the floor where their feet touch. The rockets explode on contact and the splash damage kills the enemy
- Method 1: zoom add 2m & fire
- In defence positions put out the PDS vehicle scanner in a forward position, in the direction you expect they to come from
- If you're playing armour then put the PDS on your armour
- When you cap a flag immediately get your motions mines out to defend
- Especially put out mines on maps with one road as a choke point, eg Cerbere Landing or Berlin
- To stop racing FAVs, place your motion mines a distance behind your EMP mines
- Don't bunch up your mines or one bait will get them all, conversely if you are in a vehicle then carry the bait
- Hit tanks on the sides or the back for max damage
- Hit APCs on the sides or the back for high damage and hit the vent at the bottom of the back plate for max damage
- Hit walkers on the legs for high damage and hit the underneath vent for max damage
- Look for the repair symbol on the minimap for team-mates needing repairing help
- When repairing a vehicle get on the back side away from the enemy fire
- With the advanced repair tool (DysTek Repair v2.0) you can just drive up next to the vehicle to repair it, look for the repair symbol bottom right
- EMP nades are great to confuse enemy infantry, they will find it difficult to shoot anything or read their minimap
- EMP nades are great to get an 'EMP lock down' on an enemy vehicle, for your friendly engineers to take them out
- Look for the resupply icon on the minimap and resupply your friendly infantry
- Put the infantry scanner on key infantry routes, this helps your whole team see the enemy coming and make the kills
- Put the infantry scanner on your Squad Lead's Otus, this helps keep your all important squad lead alive
- Sentry guns are good at a distance over open ground. Sentry guns are accurate at distance even when its difficult for the enemy to place accurate shots on the sentry gun

Re: [SOP: Ideas] Being a good Squad Member
I have some suggestions in addition to what Sharingan wrote:
=====================================
Q-Spot a lot- If you see an enemy who's not on the minimap, always spot first before shooting. It only takes a quick hit on "Q" while you bring up your aim before you start shooting the enemy.
- Spot the enemy even if it's too far for you to shoot at so that other team mates nearer to the enemy will be aware of his/her presence
- Do a contact report if multiple contacts seen on the minimap making a push to your position but the squad does not seem to be aware of their presence.
- ccc
Move with your Squad- If the squad leader gives an order to move out, please move out with him/her. If you were busy engaging an enemy when the order came, finish the engagement ASAP and move, even if there are other enemies in the vicinity. Don't get stranded behind while your entire squad moves away.
- ccc
Spawn Discipline- Only spawn on your SL (green dot) unless otherwise told to spawn at another location
- If SL is down, wait for him/her to spawn, then spawn on him/her so that time isn't wasted on re-grouping (what zaotoichi said)
- Always check the map for enemy movement especially if UAV or IDS is up.
- Also check when you hear a Q-spot report.
- This allows you to see on the minimap where the medics/support/engineers are so you can move to their position
- It also lets medics/support/engineers be aware of your request and your position will show up on their minimap so that they can move to you
- When you run into an enemy squad and start engaging, make sure you take up position ahead of your squad lead and get the enemy squad's attention so that your squad lead has the chance to run to a safe location.

Re: [SOP: Ideas] Being a good Squad Member
Spacing is also important since you need to consider your squadmates' lines of sight. If you know there are friendlies behind you, crouch or prone and then fire, or even sprint off to the side if you don't have the shot, but suspect that someone behind you does (yes, I am telling you to run away if the situation dictates.)

I think it's good to have a scout, and taking the bullet for the SL, cool, fine with me.
Just a reminder to some new people, don't go off and scout when you're in a HOT zone, really, there is no need, because you know a squad with grenades and guns in their hands are right 'round the corner!|TG-69th|Berlancic2"Speed. Aggression. Surprise."

Re: [SOP: Ideas] Being a good Squad Member
*Eroak please unsticky now
I am back on the project again to get these SOPs done
this is the script for this SOP
================================================== ==
Standard Oprating Procedure [SOP]
Being A Good Squad Member
Stick with your Squad- Sticking together is the hallmark of a TG squad, that means stay near your squad lead and don't wander off. You are not a lone wolf, you are part of a group of people and if you stick together then you bring more guns to bear on the enemy quickly. Imagine your squad of 6 bumps 3 enemy, they get cut down and one of your squad goes down too, but that one is revived within a few seconds. This is why a squad that sticks together is powerfull
- One warning though, don't group up so close that a grenade can kill you all !
- As a rule of thumb, stay within 5 seconds run from your squad lead, so you can revive them !
- A squad that sticks together should also move together
- If the squad leader gives an order to move out, then move immediately if you can. If you are busy engaging an enemy when the order came, finish the engagement ASAP and then move, even if there are other enemies in the vicinity. Don't get stranded behind while your entire squad moves away.
- If the squad lead says its time to move and get in the transport / FAV, then move immediately and get in the vehicle. A vehicle that is stationary, waiting for people to get on, is a target for everything anti-armour. So its important for the whole squad to get in the vehicle very quickly
- If the squad is moving on foot then try to go ahead of the squad lead and take point or at least keep near behind the squad lead. The squad lead will usually put a move marker on the minimap to show the direction to travel or can can see the squad lead on the minimap and just follow them
- When the squad lead says 'get on the flag' then move quickly into capping range. you can tell when you are in capping range because a bar appears top of the screen under the score
- The key is the get the flag neutral, because then the enemy and your team can only spawn on squad leads, while you are on the flag while they are not, therefore your team actually has the advantage
- If the capping suddenly stops, be aware that an enemy is now within capping range, and therefore close to you. Get ready for very close range combat
- BF2142 is a game of intel, there are infantry scanners + Q-spotting + UAV. This constantly puts red dots on the minimap, use that information and see they on the minimap before they come around the corner. So get into the habit of looking at the minimap every 2 seconds.
- Also if you are the player class medic/engineer/support then you will see symbols for people calling for your help on the minimap
- The Q + T keys give you options for making requests
- Particulary useful are 'need reapir' & 'need medic' & 'need ammo', when you do these commands, the players in the kit that can help you, see a minimap symbol to draw their attention to you. Usually the com row request is enough, however you can back it up with squad VOIP if needed
- This is important, especially when pushing on an enemy flag, the squad lead is your spawn point and when everybody spawns on the squad lead it helps keep the squad together and helps bring more guns to bear on the enemy at once
- As you play keep track of where your squad lead is and if they go down, then revive them immediatly. If you are not medic, then you can switch pick up an assault kit on the ground with the 'G' key. Your squad lead's life is more important than your own, if necessary get the risky revive in and die for them so they can to live
- The range of kits in a squad is important in order to handle different threats. Normally its the squad lead who will assign kits to people or calls for the kit that is needed next respawn. If the squad lead assigns you a kit then only respawn with that kit unless told otherwise (you can ask for another kit allocation). If the squad lead says next person spawning come in engineer, then you do that, as per the squad leads orders
- If the squad is allowed to choose their own kit and change that choice throughout the game then before you spawn in, look at what kits are already in the squad. Do you already have 2 supports in the squad? you dont need a 3rd. Is there 1 medic and its the SL? then you need to be a medic no mater what. The basic infantry squad should always consist of 3 medics and 1 support(IDS) at all times. The last 2 slots fill in with more medics, dedicated engineer or recon+otus. On armour maps more engineers are good.
- The rule is 'Listen' & 'Obey' to your squad lead, this is the rule that new people really have to adapt to, they are used to going around on their own or being in non-functional squads, then they join TG and squad work is the norm and it takes some adapting too, the key to adapting is 'Listen' & 'Obey' to your squad lead, then you will soon be contributing to a great TG squad
- Don't get so engrossed in a fight fight that you don't hear the squad lead talking, learn to constantly pay attention to the squad lead, no matter what the action
- Confirm back to the squad lead that you have understood the order, by an "All right" with the PgUp button or saying "copy" on voip
- The squad lead will usually combine verbal orders with the move/attack/defend orders that appear on the minimap (eg a gold line on the minimap from you to the point at which the order is issued for), example you are defending a flag and a squad is coming in from the east, the squad lead marks the move order on the map, you see a gold line appear on the minimap and the squad lead says "move east, intercept that squad coming in"
- A very good example of orders that can only be given verbally are 'hold your fire' orders, example the squad is moving up the far west of the map on foot, the squad lead gives the order to "hold fire as we are sneaking past", this is when its important to listen and obey
- If you become the squad member who listens & obeys to orders then the squad lead will realize that and give you more important jobs to do to contribute to the squad and you will also get more squad invites at the start of rounds, as squad lead's want good squad members
- Get a mic check, just say 'mic check?' or 'is my mic ok?'
- Be encouraging and respectful when speaking on voip, a positive attitude makes you popular, a moaning or critical attitude does not
- Ask questions to your squad, to learn faster
- Let the squad know when you have downed priority targets e.g. enemy SL, enemy tank / walker / APC
- You can make requests of your squad lead, example 'can I play a different kit from the assigned one?' or ' can I spawn back at base and bring up the walker?' or ' can we attack the church flag?'. Don't tell your squad lead what to do, request it instead, telling your squad lead is a quick way to annoy them and get kicked from the squad
- When joining a squad mid-round, ask the squad lead what kit they want and where to spawn in
- Bear in mind that your squad lead potentially has 5 squad members to listen to, a commander to listen to, and even teamspeak SL-SL conversations. That's a lot of voices. The squad lead has a lot more going on than you can hear in squad
- When the squad leader is talking, be quite. The squad lead always get priority for airtime
- At map start assume you will not spawn in when the timer goes to 0, assume you will spawn in on the squad lead (green dot) when they instruct you to do so, for example they may take a FAV and race to a flag and then want their squad to spawn in
- During the game, only spawn on your SL (green dot) unless the squad lead instructs you to spawn at another location
- If the squad lead says don't spawn then keep your spawn screen open, that will stop you accidently spawning in on a previously selected spawn point
- Everybody on your team can see the spotted red dot on the minimap, so its great for the team's battle intel
- Make it a reflex habit, Q-spot then fire !
- Verbal spotting follows up after Q-spotting. The Q-spot puts the red dot on the minimap and the verbal spotting quickly draws your squad lead's attention to the red dot on the minimap. The squad lead then has new intel to make a decision with
- Make your verbal spot 'quick' and 'informative' BF2142 is a fast paced game and a few seconds can change everything, so as a rule of thumb a spot takes 1-3 secs
- Don't waste squad VOIP air time with words that contain no information, an example of a bad verbal spot is "I see some enemies over there, they are shooting but not at me", this actually gives no useful information at all and takes up VOIP airtime. Wasting VOIP air time is worse than not verbal spotting at all
- Verbal spot in a flat tone of voice, to impart information, the excitement tones of voice are for the squad lead to give orders. This is so everybody always knows its the squad lead talking
- If you are on a flag then verbal spot on compass points relative to the flag, example "tank north". If you are moving between flags then spot relative to the squad lead's position, example "FAV east of SL"
- Numbers are assumed to be soldiers, example "2 north" indicates 2 enemy soldiers north. This is for faster verbal spotting, if its a vehicle then state that, example "2 tanks north"
- Examples of good spots;
- The one word spot, examples "Tank!" or "Mines!", used for when something is serious right now!
- Their strength of numbers, examples "2 on the catwalk" or "APC plus 5 on the main road" or "full squad defending Church flag"
- Their direction, examples "tank south east of flag" or "3 snipers east of com tower"
- Their location, examples "sniper in tower" or "motion mines on the corner" or "roach is active" or "3 north Close!"
- Their movement, examples "transport coming our way" or "fully loaded FAV coming in from north Fast!" or "2 enemy tanks north moving off to another flag"
- Special case, "Squad lead is down", although they will usually say they are down, it is helpful to guide a medic to the squad lead location, example "SL is in back of truck by the flag"
- Special case, if your squad leads beacon is destroyed then say "beacon is down" or if the squad lead is unspawnable then say "can't spawn in"
- Special case, "Flag is going down", this is critical information, convey it quickly to your squad
- Summary: Q-spot then verbal spot and make your spot 'quick' and 'informative'
- Imagine a squad where every squad member was Q-spotting and following up with verbal spots, the flow of intel would put your squad in a superior position, so commit now to do your part in that superior squad and verbal spot
