[SOP: Ideas] Being a good Squad Member

    let's hear your ideas

    Being a good Squad Member
I am thinking top 10 good practices, or maybe top 15, or if there is a lot of material maybe a few SOPs here
I am thinking about a fast paced punchy video of do this do that
    to cover things like
    • verbal spotting
    • verbal requesting/suggesting
    • rule: when SL talks then be quite
    • stick with squad
    • revive often
    • q-spot often
    • get on the flag when capping
    • move with the squads
    • etc
    • <insert your idea here>

you have till about Sunday night , then the thread will be summarised and I will film next week

But stay within a 5 second recovery distance. This way you can move to a teammate in 5 seconds, recover for 5, and revive/heal for 5. Anything past 5 seconds your going to often end into the 50/50 case of luck revive or both of you dead.

Squad balance, make a note who has what kit. Do you already have 2 supports in the squad? You dont need a 3rd. 1 medic and its the SL, you need to be a medic no mater what. Of course this is flex as needed. But the basic infantry squad should always consist of 3 medics and 1 support(IDS) at all times. The last 2 slots fill in with more medics, dedicated engineer or recon+odus. Know to fit your role on what the squad needs, not yourself.

    Very quickly...me sleepy...

verbal spotting - Keep it very short. Take too long and the information is of no use because the whole squad is dead. Which direction (be aware of your North, South, East, and West at all times, don't do it relative to your screen, your left is someone else's right.) how many (whole squad, lone wolf, a few soldiers), armour/infantry and if they are higher or lower than eye-level if this is applicable to the situation.

E.g. "Contacts East, probably a full infantry squad, up high on the bridge"

Verbal requesting/suggesting - Question and suggest orders if you think they might be wrong. Don't be pushy, and remember to say I told you so if you were right. Do not stop and halt squad's progress, just to question orders, and do not over-question and be annoying.

rule: when SL talks then be quite - Erm...pretty much.

Stick with squad - See Lorax's and Eroak's post for info. on spacing. Other than that, yh, stick with the squad, don't leave your squad unless ordered to, which will be rare.

revive often - See Revival SOP for more info.
q-spot often - See Spotting SOP.
get on the flag when capping - The more bodies the faster it flips, meaning backup can spawn at flag and enemies can stop spawning on flag. Do not group up on flags, consider spacing techniques suggested by Eroak and Lorax. Also may want to conside sending one or 2 back from flag in safe area as a contingency for reviving or contining capping if those on the flag go down. Make sure your SL is one of the few staying back so you can spawn on them if you go down.
move with the squads - Yuhha.
LISTEN CAREFULLY - DO NOT GET TOO ENGROSSED IN TAKING POTSHOTS THAT YOU STOP LISTENING TO YOUR SQUADLEAD. Every order they gives you is for a reason, even if it is not immediately apparent. Hold spawn when told, spawn in when told, take correct kits. Following orders is the first step in understanding strategies and tactics.

add in: Only spawn on your SL (green dot) unless otherwise told to spawn at another location.

Not sure if this is a good idea, but I try to get ahead of the SL when we're moving to a new location. If we run into a bullet, at least I take the bullet and not the SL.

When joining a squad, if kit allocations have been completed already, and you start maybe mid-round, it is always best to ask what kit is needed, and where you should spawn. If no response, then I guess as Eroak said above, check what your squad is missing or lacking, and bring in the extra medic, or support with IDS if there isn't 1.

Watch the mini-map! Seriously! If there are contacts moving towards an uncovered area ( like on Carebear breakthroughs on the far west ) and your SL is to busy ( should actually not happen but you never know ) to notice them.. let him know about it! Don´t simply just rush there and tell your squad about contacts after your dead. Let your SL know about the movements and wait what he is deciding. He may has already have a plan or is talking to the CO.

I have a funny feeling that this won't quite make it into the SOP.

Don't TK your SL because you thought he was already dead.

I couldn't see it mentioned, so I'd suggest putting in that your squad leader's life (particularly when attacking) is more important than your own.
