Player Critiques
I was wondering if we would want a system for critiquing other players skills, in a standard format. I was thinking something like a form that people could fill out then PM to the person they are critiquing so that it would be private (but not anonymous).
I feel that public critiques aren't usually as harsh as they need to be for fear of either humiliating, or disrespecting, the target of the criticism. The downside to keeping it private, however, is that if others notice the same problems but don't write up a critique then you only hear the problem from one source, and might consider it trivial, whereas the flaw pointed out is actually something worth looking at. It could be like a private AAR of sorts.
Any opinions/thoughts on this?
For example, two flaws in my SLing were recently braught to my attention. One is that I expect alot in my SMs in the field of keeping up with me. I often find myself giving orders to move to a flag and reacting immediately, but my SMs lag behind a bit and I'm barely within 10 seconds of my squad. The other is that I tend to change my mind alot, often I will say to attack a flag, then as we're moving towards it I'll re-analyze the situation and realize it's a bad decision and change the active order. There have been times where this happens alot in rapid succession, and I've gotten many complaints from SMs along the lines of "Make up your damn mind!" I've been trying to work on correcting both of these, to get better as a SL. Others might be able to benefit from similar critiques of their abilities.
***EDIT***
Let's try to keep the criticism private, and constructive. Be honest, and don't be afraid of repercussions. If we are volunteering for a critique to be written it means that we will not take it personally, and want you to be truthful with us, regardless of how "mean" it may sound. We are not looking for confidence boosters, we want you to point out the things we suck at, with details if possible. Brownie points for giving suggestions on solutions too!
*Note, there's not defined list of what people want critiqued, just a general idea of what they're looking for.

Re: Player Critiques
Well how about a list of people who would like to be Criticized first? Many people just play it for fun and don´t care that much about it and it may sounds a bit elites or whatever.
I don´t dislike this though but i see that many people could feel offended by critics.
Well anyway i would be happy about every way to improve myself.

Re: Player Critiques
Indeed, as mirror points out, not everyone takes kindly to criticism, whether it is constructive or not. If a kind of list was made as mirror suggested, and then people put their names up on it, people would be free to send PMs of constructive criticism to these people if they felt it was necessary. I personally got advice a few times off of people I enjoyed playing with and often got some pretty invaluable tips. Constructive criticism (or a good shouting at from Crux - seriously, I don't think I've ever missed a revive since that day man
) are the best ways to learn IMO, since they give a 3rd person perspective in what's going wrong. It's good to have that, even if you are constantly self-evaluating your performances.

Yeah, I don't think I want to be on that list.... I only have room for 500 PM's being a supporting member and all.

Re: Player Critiques
I think this is a good idea. I've wondered about this myself, because I think people are afraid of offering criticism. People are also too easily offended (which applies to society in general). If the comment is not a personal attack, then I have no problem with being told what I'm doing wrong. I would welcome that, but reserve the right to disagree obviously

I know a lot of my own faults (here and in the real world), but I'd like to get other's view. Every now-and-again I'll d/l a BR file and watch myself get pwned.

Go a head, tell me how much of a nut I am... I don't mind. If I know what I'm doing wrong that bothers the heck out of you, then I can work on you... I'll even try not to team kill you, just kidding about the last part though.

It'd be fun, but I think I can guess what most of my criticism would be: Get a mic!

I would like critique on my SLing style. I like to think I am a good SL, but I know I have room for improvement.

Re: Player Critiques
Alright, I'll edit the first post with a list of people who want to be critiqued as of this post. If I miss someone, or you want your name removed, let me know and I'll take it off.
For those wanting to write a critique, please remember to keep it constructive, we only have so many PMs that we can have at once, and you don't know how close to the limit your recipient is! A critique that says "You're terrible go die >=(" isn't going to help the person change at all.
