Mod Ideas, anyone?
I have a question for all of you. What sort of things would you like to see in a new BF2142 mod, or a new BF game? Mind you, I'm not MAKING a mod. Post some Ideas, people. Here's mine:
Weapon Attachments- Such as a laser pointer, for airstrikes, or maybe a smokegrenade launcher.
Better smoke grenades- Uh, more smoke. Haha!
COLORED smoke grenades.
Different scopes, such as night vision, 4x zoom, 12x zoom, different colored scopes, and traditional, 21st century scopes.
Now, we also need different weapons for different situations, so maybe a thing that lets you save three different variations of each specific weapon you unlock, for the changing battlefield.
How about different uniforms? We need better camouflage, and maybe snipers can have a gillie suit selection, right next to the body armor button in the customize menu. Different Camo for different maps. Gimme some more realistic Ideas. Also, more to come from me as I think of them. Post, k?Yes yes yes, I have been gone.
But now.. I have returned for more bloody action.
Well, minus the blood..
But you can call me... CAMEL.

What i'd like to see most is being able to change your sights on your guns like you can in CoD 4

Re: Mod Ideas, anyone?
-Can't jump if you don't have the stamina for it (good bye bunny hoppers)
-Heavy armor protects whole body and reduces more dmg
-Smoke grenades create thicker smoke over a larger area. And have it remove NetBat diamonds and minimap icons (Thank DrBeat for the second half).
-Radar grenades create NetBat diamonds instead of minimap dots.
-IDS and PDS create NetBat diamonds instead of minimap dots.
-UAV creates NetBat diamonds instead of minimap dots.
-Pulse Meter changed to a hand-held laser targeting system for the Accipiter and Sentry guns to be used for suppressive fire if needed.
-Remove the minimap altogether.
-IN-GAME squad lead to squad lead voip
-Insta-gib sniper rifle headshots (not just zeller)
-Recon NetBat keeping the diamonds updated.
-Have NetBat helmet comboes:
- Assault+Recon: NetBat diamonds on infantry have a distance meter attached.
- Engineer+Recon: NetBat diamonds on vehicles have a distance meter attached.
- Support+Recon: NetBat diamonds on cloakers have a distance meter attached.
- Assault+Engineer: NetBats diamonds on vehicles have a small list of kit icons representing the soldiers inside.
- Assault+Support: NetBat diamonds on infantry have a small enemy ammo bar.
- Engineer+Support: NetBat diamonds on vehicles have a small enemy ammo bar.Last edited by pred011586; 04-13-2009 at 01:08 AM.

Personally I can't wait for Battlefield 1842: The Wild West.
As far as 2142 mods go:
Remove the UAV, OTUS, Diamonds and IDS. The only way to get red dots on your map is for other people to spot them.

Re: Mod Ideas, anyone?
Some good ideas here. Although if you start adding better scopes to the regular guns you would have to improve the sniper rifles' scopes otherwise you would lose it's advantage of range. Also the effective firing distance would need to be increased, the real problem is maps designed deliberately so that you can't see too great a distance...sniping will be much better on brilliant computers yet to come.
All the sniper rifles kill with a single shot to the head. Personally I never understand why people use the zeller seeing as the advantages of the guns are range and damage. The disadvantages are the clip size and firing rate. Therefore, the zeller has slightly increased the damage advantage only for body shots, and halfed the clip size making its disadvantage much worse.
As for the radar stuff...well the UAV is real now (and the Drones, IDS and PDS would presumably be the same scanning technology) so it's not hard to imagine it being more effective in over 100 years. Integrated HUD sending information back to the wearer of a helmet or goggles or some other device could easily be reality by then, its again being worked on currently. The buildings and such would be tricky so a full map quite difficult...but then again maybe a sonar effect would work. Getting technology to tell what is and what isn't human would be tricky; it all would. Still possible.
Anyway, most gamers preffer having a map I think. Helps you find where the action is and so get involved basically.
The single most annoying thing I find about Battlefield and other games that adopted the idea (I wonder which originally started it) is the spawn locations being the exact places you have to attack...who came up with that? It encourages spawn killing. Again it's probably to get you to the action fast and there's not much to be done about it. The titans on BF2142 were a welcome idea, you can spawn and be safe whilst the enemy has a proper objective rather than to change what flag is on a pole
The best shooter game will be when the objectives directly impact the gameplay, such as transportation links, airfields and ammunition buildings. When that gets upgraded to the people playing deciding the order you do these in AND it being multiplayer, you're on to a winner.

Re: Mod Ideas, anyone?
Insta-gib as in unreviveable, sorry, I should've clarified.
As for the map thing. I figured with the NetBat system already in place, we could remove the minimap all together and have something like CoD's hardcore mode, with no HUD at all. You still get functionality via the NetBat, and you still have the squad screen to see your map, you just don't see the minimap.

Re: Mod Ideas, anyone?
Ah, here's another Idea for a new game mode. Two titans. Awww yeah. Except there are also two commanders, and they use the public squad channel (default B) to talk to eachother, and the squads can hear them. Commanders should also be able to adjust their titan's altitude with a ceiling of about 500 m, and they can change speed, and fly it like you could captain the Enterprise on BF1942. IF you destroy both enemy titans (or if they destroy yours) it goes into conquest, and the surviving titans are locked into position, and can be destroyed. Of course, due to the chaos, the starting tickets should be defaulted to about 450. Also, the titans should be more complex. To stop the titan from moving, you should be able to destroy the engines via, you guessed it: the engine room! Of course, they can be repaired. The guns can be disabled by destroying the mainframe in in a sort of central server area, off to the side of the cargo bay. Also, on both titan and titan conquest (this one) the titans should start to "sink", like they would in real life. PWNT.
Another Idea. The PAC need different uniforms. They stick out like a sore thumb due to their black uniforms against WHITE SNOW. What is that all about? They need camo like in Northern Strike.Yes yes yes, I have been gone.
But now.. I have returned for more bloody action.
Well, minus the blood..
But you can call me... CAMEL.
