Now I've never played PR, but when Draeh said this I got the gist of it compared to 2142. Thus if you thought PR was fast, you may just have a brain hemorrhage the second you pod out of an APC into a fire fight.

Well it has a really cool unlock system, every promotion you get a choice of some new equipment, upgrade, or weapon you can use on the battlefield. However I will tell you the first week or so will be interesting. I say that because you will start out with literally just your primary weapon, a side arm, and a knife (nades are unlocks here) and ranking up can be slow. Some people enjoy this phase, others do not.

Other than that, the new vehicles and weapons make the game a great experience. Keep in mind this game is much different from BF2, if you've ever played that. The dynamics are completely different.

Unlock system? Huh? You mean I have to unlock my weapons? I don't understand.

There are four "kits" that you can play with. Each starts out with a default weapon and has a pistol knife and the special item for that kit (medic box, amo box, repair tool). The from there each kit has 8 unlocks including two weapons for each kit. Each time you move up a rank you get to unlock something...thats basically it.

Actually, if you thought the demo was a roller coaster, wait till you play the full game with rockets and grenades. My suggestion: find Zhohar and hide behind him. He'll save you if anyone can.

Dont get discouraged either. Most people have been playing 2142 for some time now and are very skilled. A new person can become overwhelmed. Knowing the maps helps a TON, and this only comes from playing them.

Take time to practice shooting on an empty server. Try to shoot a stationary object while you circle it, etc. This will help you get the feel of the game.

Be prepared to die alot at first. But, the game is amazing. Been playing since release and I still love it.

Been playing the demo servers a lot recently and I am pretty good at sniping... I got a 20-1 score on titan game mode, I even assaulted the titan!!! Arma view shakiness helped I guess.

Just as a suggestion, you might want to get proficient with the medic kit as you will use that almost exclusively on the TG server. Snipers are fun, but the defibrillator revives much faster then a sniper can snipe.

Indeed. Medic kit first, everything else (engy, support, recon) second.

Being a good sniper isn't a bad thing though. If you get the aiming and shooting down, and if you can then transfer that to your Assault rifles and other weapons you'll be much more lethal than someone who just goes straight for the ARs which are the easiest to use at first. Just look at someone like Anospa to see what great sniping ability can do for your AR skills.

    1. Buy it.
    2. When you're in game, crouch zoom shoot (ctrl - rmb - lmb)
    3. Profit!

Well it might be hard at first, especially if you decide on starting recon first (Don't...for your own gaming pleasure, please don't, I did it). But once you play often enough you get the hang of it...after that it just comes down to map knowledge...where do you have to jump-prone to get over, where is something sticking out where it shouldn't be (Sniper heads), how many ways are there to a flag, how to assault a flag best, etc.

    What's PR btw?

This is a reflex that you develop with practice, but the sooner you learn it the sooner your kills will start to rise. It greatly increases your accuracy which way overcompensates for the extra half a second it takes to do.

You seem to be enjoying it Ghost I hope you do buy it

Something to keep in mind: due to most others being experienced AND having unlocks, getting them yourself will become a target...of course secondary to having fun but still.

There are 2 tips I'd give, number 1 pick up enemy kits when you kill them by looking at the box they drop with their dead body and pressing G (the symbol on it tells you which kit it is to help you decide whether you want it). This will immediately let you use any unlocks they are carrying.

Number 2 is just take a look at the criteria towards all awards. Ribbons, Medals and Awards can only be achieved once and all give you points, 1000 mainly I think which is a huge contribution. The Pins are easier to get and can be achieved any number of times, although they give you a smaller amount, 5 or 10 or something.
Keep in mind which you think you can achieve the quickest, ie the one for parachuting for a longer than usual period of time...knowing that you can get an award for that means when you jump from a very high height you'll use the parachute straight away and not wait until you're near the ground.

Of course concentrate more on the match but getting awards is part of the game too. Getting unlocks gradually does help you get used to how to use them. When your squad is doing well it gets awarded temporary squad unlocks, use them up from the spawn screen and they'll last on that server until you leave it.
