Just saying thanks to HolyEnd, I ran into him on another public server that allows "mass chaos (read:RDXing, bunny hopping, etc.)", he joined my "Teamwork" squad, and it was great having him show up. Just another way the |TG| tag helps.
I knew who and what he was about as soon as I saw the tag.
If I'm not playing TG servers I ALWAYS look for TG tagged buddies playing elsewhere or for some of my MG buddies......tags rock!!!
I have always been a fan of MG as a UK almost-equivalent to TG. They've got some great players over there, but I went to the server the other day, and the bunny hopping was colossal. Not sure if they allow it or not, but the standard of play was much lower than I expected of it.
In all reality, bunny hopping does not change the 'quality of play' they just like to play the game a different way. In many respects MG is very good (lots of nice shooters and good medics)
TG rules against bunny hopping because its not simulation and therefore not TG.
Well bunny hopping is using a bug/glitch that messing up with your hitbox so you get an unfair advantage.. so i don´t enjoy servers very much where bunnies hopping around like crazy eating my pie and stealing my tags
His capacity for love lost, the man accepts it into his glas of dispair. The Flames of burning anger unquenched, the man keeps drinking... but never gets drunk

If everyone bunnyhops noone has an advantage. Just different style. Some tolerance pls for bunnyhoppers!
its not a glitch more of an exploit of lag since movement causes hit boxes to lag out some, but its really just semantics I guess. Its not unfair as everyone can use it, I guess I just feel like being the devil's advocate today.

Nevermind mate. I know what you want to say and bunnyhopping is just not my play-style so i enjoy servers where like-minded player are
nothing wrong with the other ways to play the game if they do it on an other server.
And yes if everyone would do it it would be fair... but no fun at all i assume.
but this won´t have an end so all i can say is " do whatever you like to do.. as long as you stick to the rules of the servers your playing "

Indeed. I'm careful not to write these players off, it's just so anger inducing going from our server with very minimal bunny-hopping to one which nearly every player is bounding up and down (baring in mind I didn't actually see any MG players hop). So it changes the quality of play for me, as TG is how I like to play. I was under the impression that MG followed much the same rules as TG and so expected more.
lol How did I not see this topic. xD
Anyways, it was fun. Holy crap though. There were so many bunny hoppers it wasn't even funny. I kept on having to unload a full round of shotgun shots on whoever I killed. Then would just jump, and of course the shotgun shots would miss them.

Off topic: I do not care about bunny hopping. The fact that I cant physically jump behind cover as I would in real life leads me to believe that bunny hopping is that replacement. *shrug*. If someone was shooting me from some unknown location, I would NOT just go prone and look around. I would weave, bob, dodge and do everything possible to make me a hard target until I found my attacker.
On topic: Tags are useful tools to identify TG members. Thanks again Holy.

Err, I'm no military tactician, but jumping up and down in real life is surely not a sensible thing to do. Going prone surely is the most sensible thing to do.

There is no mechanic in the game to allow me to do what I would really do if I was taking fire from a rooftop or in the open.
Someone firing on you from a roof and you would go prone? Really? I was taught that you should run in a zig zag pattern. There is no such zig zag running in 2142. The running/dodging technique does not exist in 2142. I have never been in a real combat situation, but I have played paintball enough to know that the type of evasive manuevers someone does in real life can NOT be duplilcated in 2142. People move unexpectedly, people roll, people weave, people "crouch run", I have never seen someone go prone out in the open when I fire on them in paintball. Therefore I see "bunny hopping" as the only alternative. Give me an ingame mechanic that works like real life then I will gladly drop my argument. Until then I do not fault people for bunny hopping. I like bunny hoppers, I kill them more then they kill me, but I can see why and how it could be used to replicate "evasive manuevers" in real life.
Can an admin lock this thread. It has gone completely off topic. I just wanted to say thanks to Holy.
It is not often that I encounter across myself when researching a topic. I found the following in a recent article on the uses of ethnography in virtual environments:

Took a gamble and got a refurbished 30 GB OCZ Vertex 1 off of NewEgg for the low, low price of $30. Had some trouble getting the drive to be recognized by Windows or by my BIOS. Had to use a jumper...
It has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for the second peer-review report to come in for my next book (this one is on the future of television).
