Does 2142 creep into your day to day life?
I'm either off my rocker today, or out of sorts due to lack of sleep. Sitting at the office this morning, and just got off the phone with an architect. During our phone call, he was talking for a minute or two, and then when I went to respond to him....for just a fraction of a second.....my brain sent the signal to my hand to reach for the VOIP button on my mouse. I almost started laughing out loud at myself then and there, which would have been weird to try to explain away without sounding like a complete idiot.

This is going to make me sound like a total idiot too, but oh well. When I first started playing (i.e. during the early stages of my addiction ;-) it took me a while to stop noticing that people and cars in real life don't have their names above them.

Re: Does 2142 creep into your day to day life?
That VoIP button thing happens to me all the time. When I'm talking on the cellphone at my comp, I'm often hitting my VoIP button while talking. I have mine set to Numpad 5, and bound to my mouse though, so it doesn't actually start typing or anything like that. I usually do a *facepalm* once I realize it... usually don't notice for awhile, if at all.
I've actually started to approach life problems like I approach issues in BF2142. Which actually is a good thing. I used to just wing it alot, now I analyze the situation, check if my initial response is relevent then run a quick cost/benefit check before I speak up, or do whatever it is I'm doing.

Does periodically staring around corners looking for cover while walking the dog at night count? This is especially frequent after login off the game ... *SIGH*

Not really. I still walk in straight lines perfect for being mowed down (the drum major would yell at me anyway)
.
I did address a group I was working with as my "squad" though.

I randomly catch myself saying things like "copy that" and "negative". I get quite a few strange looks.

^^ Yes, this happens to me quite often. I respond with "Negative" and "Roger that" and even once yelled "Contact!" when I spotted someone I was looking for! haha

Occasionally I'd move my arm like a squad leader would when assigning an order. Often I'll look around for cover.

There was that one time I started yelling out orders in my sleep...something about a Walker and someone blow it up...
