Re: Large scale warfare on display this Thursday
It was loads of fun, but I did miss the infantry. A great change and I had a blast.

Re: Large scale warfare on display this Thursday
It bordered on the ridiculous, I must say. A line of tanks on the hill at Verdun? That was nuts.
It was fun tank-sniping Zho though.

Re: Large scale warfare on display this Thursday
It would be awesome to have 64 player, large urban maps with little to no armour. Like, for example, a more spacious Belgrade or Minsk without the choke point.
He was told that he should not kill, and he did not kill, until he got into the Army. Then he was told to kill, and he killed.

Re: Large scale warfare on display this Thursday
This was a great day. I didn't know this was coming so when i hit the server I wondered if I really was on the TG server. I double checked, just to make sure.
Armor was EVERYWHERE. This was one of the few days when I think more people played Engineer than Medic-and as an Engineer you actually got a lot to do!
Amazing games on there today-Verdun was crazy a couple of times. I was in a squad where we were-quite literally-surrounded by 6 different Armors at Church and we survived a long time. Lots of mines, resupplies, and EMP Grenades.
Then there was the wide open expanse known as Highway Tampa-if you could get your Walker across the map without getting killed by a tank, gunship, APC, or another Walker, you earned an all expense paid trip to Awesomeland. A lot of flag hopping, buggy runs, and the ever popular
"Man, I just got sniped."
"Where? *gunshot* Oh..."
Suez was the usual barrel of fun-lots of hard fought battles for Trash Dump, Inner and Outer Bridge Lock, and then the freebie, Dry Lake, where teams practically gave it to each other.
It was a great day for gaming on TG. Must say, top marks to all involved-a very enjoyable experience and nice change of pace. Not enough credit goes out there to the fellow players who make this game as interesting and entertaining as it is. Cheers to all of you.
I am trekfan and I await you on the battlefield.
Don't be late.

Re: Large scale warfare on display this Thursday
Really enjoyed the 64 player maps, it's scary how much armor can suddenly appear at one location. Also I think it got a lot of new players in to the server as I imagine most people who want a game just find the most populated (and least ping) servers and join them. With numbers hitting the 60s the server's gonna appear right among the top of the lists, so that was cool to see new faces and hopefully one or two will have taken a look at the forums if they enjoyed themselves.
Interesting to see how the recon kit was considerably effective in engineer-heavy squads too, as well as using their scope to pick up vehicles hiding and sniping from afar!

Re: Large scale warfare on display this Thursday
I was having fun, then I just realized that I was one of them few playing medic, running through all the explosions to just to die 2m from reviving my fallen comrade. I like 46 players more, but I wouldn't mind doing this every once in a while.

Re: Large scale warfare on display this Thursday
Had some interesting rounds today. Cought a lot of pople off guard that were confused and lost on those maps.
Best round for me was Big Suez at around 8ish EST. I created a "Command APC" Squad. basically using an APC as mobile main base driving around while spitting out Squad members for the Grunt works and claiming Armor.
Reaper joined in later and went up to 65 kills till the round ended. The grunts didn´t have such a nice K/D but the job was done. We had the EU team down to 1 flag a couple of times.
Having a Command APC is really nice since you can just load back in all your 5 SMs and drive somewhere else without having to look for Buggies. So noone gets left behind and the Squad retains its coherency.
On Verdun I was toying with the Transport but there was this "Triangle of Doom" namely 3 enemy walkers making it hard to maneuver. Noone skilled took our Gunship, too. I tried one of my tactics of flying low and seeking the company of a friendly walker for its AA gun. That can work our really good. Gunship gets baited by the fat tasty Transport but then the Walker AA EMPs it and demolishes it. We were able to cpa some backflags tho using the Transport that got us easy bleed on the enemies slow moving Armor force and in the end turned around the match giving us the win with only 14-0 tickets.
Then there came Minsk on PAC side. Zohar and Reap rushed in as cloaky recon while I made some distractions pushing an APC into the mines. I was able to pod out, put down mines near the tower, kill the enemy APC, enter the tower and kill 4 Snipers in there before they got me down. reaper made it through and we went on to cap their backflags. Had some fun times staying alive but the EU team eventuelly lost all but 1-2 flags and had to suffer
Yay Minsk 64 !

Re: Large scale warfare on display this Thursday
Aww sounds like a great time was had. I was very disappointed to end up with an internet issue which is now fixed, :S whatever it was, and so missed most of these until the late rounds.
I certainly wouldn't mind this on the occasion either, it stops the usual getting boring by making a change. Doesn't have to be often. Between that, clan mod, scrims, and the regular stuff: the server certainly is fun.

Re: Large scale warfare on display this Thursday
I must be missing something... what is a ROFLCOPTER?
I've heard it mentioned many times, but I've never actually seen one rolling around laughing on the battlefield.
p.s. It will be great to play without choke-point/stand-off maps... let's see if I can survive the snipers that will surely be having a field day.I want a semi-automatic grenade launcher for the support role... like the one available in Aliens vs. Predator 2. All those different "warhead" types would be extremely useful.
