Hehe to the racing, some people don't know about the driving half sideways going faster. I think most do though.
And yeah the Nekomata is brilliant and everyone loves it. It being faster and that strafing ability make it formidable in the open.
However I do remember once I had a perfect example of when the Tiger is better, in close quaters to shoot the enemy I only had to move the turret. My enemy on the other hand had to move the entire tank and hadn't the room to do so. Even as he started to go around me because of the limitations he was going so slow I could turn my tank on the spot so he didnt get behind me and I killed him.
Furthermore, for that last chance before you get killed if you drive straight past a Nekomata and spin your gun around you can manage to shoot them in the back or at least side. If that fails then he will easily kill you so you have to be sure he won't be expecting it.
I'm just making those points to show the good side of the Tiger; other than that, and considering the amount of open space on armor maps, the Nekomata dominates.

They both have their good points. This is great for moving around. But the EU tank doesn't move as much when firing, and is more stable on bumpy ground, and is great for infantry sniping. I can't decide which is best..... I shall like them both for now.
(Tiger driver should have reversed like crazy when you started approaching.. Maybe would have faired better)BF3 Soldier: DrSparky

Nekomata easily wins on 1on1 (in big maps) as tank shot seems to bug when its target is moving (not hitting where it was supposed to) which annoys me greatly. I don't like the fact that PAC tank is superior and for that I usually try to use them equally, ending up death when playing with EU tanks, and having 2 hostile tank wrecks in front of me when I play PAC one.
Note: If Tiger and Nekomata bump together Neko will lose its aim for 2-4 seconds while Tiger stays completely stable and most likely gets a free shot in while shields are charging for both of the tanks.

Tiger should win long rang engagements, Nekomata should win close range engagements, assuming both pilots are at the same skill level.
In the video the EU tank pilot should have never A: gotten that close to begin with (if he could help it), and B: He attempted to close the gap instead of backing up when face to face with a Neko, bad decision.
I still prefer the EU tank, tanks are designed for long range support (that's why they zoom with their turret) and in that role, the tiger is still king. I'll make a video of me destroying 4 Neko's back to back in a single tiger last night on Verdun with long range fire.

I prefer the Tiger for the simple fact that I cannot control the PAC tank if my life depended on it. I am more familiar with the Tiger and like the fact that its stable.
edit: I think the true reason why Zhohar likes the PAC tank more is because he wont Teamkill as much. He is like Stalin with the EU tank!Last edited by Dirtboy; 05-08-2009 at 01:50 PM.

The Tiger would likely have won or at least had a better chance if it didn't decide it was going to try and out-circle strafe you. Also, it popped shields at a dumb moment, after you had clearly missed, leaving the next shot of the Nekomata free to hit the side armor.
The trick to fighting Nekomata-s at medium range is to constantly be moving in a parallel direction to them. Because the Nekomata is such an unstable gun platform, it will have a terribly difficult time hitting you, while you can swivel your turret at will while still changing course. If possible, always be presenting your forward armor as well, or , if it's not possible, the forward-side armor. Often the shell will bounce off harmlessly, and it's wise to save your shields for after the enemy has used theirs.
At long range, the Tiger just kicks the Nekomata's butt all over the map, and there is no reason why you should ever engage one in close combat like that guy in the video did.

Nekomata hands down is the best tank out there. It's speed and maneuverability will always give it the edge in a close up fight, or even at range. I remember a round on Tampa a long time ago, I went out in a Nekomata with a SAW and PDS. Two gunships, 3 tanks 1 APC and a walker later, they final made me abandon my tank. Good times.

True, the Nekomata can strafe sideways to avoid shots. However, unless you are swinging yourself wildly side-to-side, a stable firing platform like the Tiger can adjust and compensate for that strafing. And if you are swinging yourself wildly side-to side, you most certainly aren't hitting anything with your shots. In addition, strafing causes your aim in the Nekomata to bounce all over the place, since when you are zoomed, every nook and cranny in the ground amplifies itself to the point where you can't aim at anything with any sort of precision. Add in the fact that the Tiger can keep it's aim steady independent of it's movement means that it can and will out-manouvere you at long distance.
Obviously, much depends on the pilot's skill and use of terrain cover. Nonetheless, the Nekomata drifts too much and fires too wildly to be of much use at long range. At medium range this is mitigated by the reduced distance, and at close range the Nekomata's strafing will cause it to have a distinct advantage.

I would argue that the Tiger, in comparison to the Nekomata, has a greater, immediate acceleration in moving in a certain direction while the Nekomata from a still position takes a critical moment to gain speed in any direction. Originally Posted by Zhohar
Ultimately I believe in basically what Specterr posted above. Obviously circling around a target is not the Tiger's forte, however, just as the Nekomata can strafe from side to side the Tiger can immediately hit either the forward or the reverse to allow long-range shots to come short or fly over the tank.

For an assault medium I prefer the Nekomata as well, but as far as an artillery platform I like the Tiger because it parks better and isn't as easy to get budged, besides that it is easier to accelerate and brake.
Kudos on the music (theme from The Piano and Carmina Burana, am I right?)
I have the first piece on my player, love it. Sad movie, though.

I guess it all comes down to personal preference. But skill does ultimately decides the outcome.
