Is there a way to scramble teams?
Since the re-activation of autobalance, we are no longer able to balance the team mix. Instead of players being able to switch over to balance the skill of the sides, we have to live with one side getting pounded to bits for 10 rounds until enough people have finally quit off the server that some of the other players finally end up getting switched. Whenever one side had more players than the other, it was quickly noted on teamspeak and fixed shortly afterwards.
It is also a big inconvenience to those players who enjoy playing with friends when they can't switch teams to be in the same squad. Most players, like myself, enjoy playing the game with friends and working together in the same squad with them.
So my question is, if Autobalance is not going to be turned off, is there a way to scramble the teams when they are insanely skill imbalanced? This will atleast give the possibility of a several fair rounds.

Re: Is there a way to scramble teams?
Take the autobalance off I say, but because thats not a option then I think we just got to suck it. I thought there was a way to scramble teams in 2142 but I think I just remember wrong.
Nowdays teams get really easily off the scale, I usually play couple rounds in losing team, or 1 round in the winning ''stacked'' team, then I quit in either case, don't like either. Luckily there are people who balance teams, sometimes in most unselfish ways, but I guess majority likes winning rather than losing
Though it is fair imo that people play together, just that if we end up all TG playing together against pubbies something isn't right!

Re: Is there a way to scramble teams?
I don't care for autobalance either. It would be nice to scramble the teams between rounds.

Re: Is there a way to scramble teams?
Stacking is bad
Autobalance is worse
I had a lot of situations this week where I was like "I prolly should switch over and sme others, too." But then found out I was nailed to one team and stuck dominating the other

Re: Is there a way to scramble teams?
Most of the time there is no admin on TS. The players in the past have had no problem balancing the teams when they were severly unbalanced. All it took was one quick comment in TS asking to balance the skill of the teams. After something was said, people changed over and it became much more fair of a fight. We shouldn't require the service of an admin when the teams are skill wise unbalanced.

Why was auto balance turned back on in the first place? I thought that it decreased server stabibility?

Re: Is there a way to scramble teams?
There is an option to scramble the teams at the begining of a round, however it's only an option for an admin.
Since the scramble is random more times than not it doesn't really fix an unbalance. If an admin is on to initiate the scramble it's probably a better idea to just have him switch a couple key players to help with balance instead of the scramble.
Now they could just leave the scramble option on so the teams are scrambled every round but that would seriously hurt the server as a big part of a good team is cohesion that is built after a couple of rounds.

Re: Is there a way to scramble teams?
The question is what does create more problems? Autobalance on or off? Autobalance has been on in the past. It has been off due to server stability issues. If the systems tries to switch a player that is no longer connected to the server (due to a kick for instance or the player disconnected) the server will crash. We are currently looking closely on the nummber of crashes and try to determin if autobalance has such a big affect on it or not.
Autobalance brings problemes like stated here. You can still play with your friends. Maybe you just have to wait a round. How bad can it be? If the teams are badly uneven and no admin is present in TS ... well there are still ways to contact us. typing "admin" in chat is enough once one of us logged in on CC. We can also temporarly turn it off for balance reasons and put it back on. Just because we are not on TS doesn't mean we aren't there
I think if we would start randomising the teams after every round. I'm sure there will be a new thread saying that this is not a good idea.
Autobalance assures that people can not switch to the winning team. It assures that teams stay even (at least by numbers I'm well aware of that) for the duration of the round. And teamstacking is not easy to achieve with autobalance on. Once there was a thread caling for autobalance back on beause of this reason ...
Before anyone jumps to conclusions now: We are still waiting for the new nummber on crashes. To see how big the affect is autobalance has."Imagination is more important than knowledge" - Albert Einstein

Re: Is there a way to scramble teams?
Switching to winning team is annoying (and EA counts it as stat padding too?), but because 1-3 guys can't handle single loss it is pain for rest of us have to pay. I also hate switchers but if this is an issue should there be heavy reporting of this?
Scramble after every 3rd round would be pretty damn nice but every round would just be little too much I think, can't be sure though as never tried!
As for keeping teams even it'll only switch dead players which is also slow as more players you have less you die (some will eventually but still), and its still annoying to get switched no matter how good team you were moved in!

Re: Is there a way to scramble teams?
Yes. But we only ever recieved 2 reports for people switch teams at the end of a round.
Deal with the autobalance for a few days atleast. We are testing some stuff. If it doesn't work, it'll be shut off again. We'll give you a heads up once our research is done. Just like special nights, we cant get data and feedback if we dont do it.
So far everything has been constructive in this thread. Please keep noting issues if you have it. But please also take a moment to note possitive things if you notice it to.The soldier formerly known as, Eroak.

Re: Is there a way to scramble teams?
I hardly think that teambalance makes team stacking harder. I don't think anyone here team stacks on purpose, most of the time it is just how players got sorted by the server. Since we no longer can change ourselves, it would at least seem that the unintentional stacking is more prevalent than ever.
And as a second note, the server does seem to be crashing more. Only good night was the all large vehicle maps, we went awhile without crashes that night.

Re: Is there a way to scramble teams?
Kudo's for looking into possible solutions for the server crashing. Players switching to the winning team isn't nearly as big of a problem as one side getting killed for 10 straight rounds. I have yet to see a time where the teams were so horribly unbalanced and it wasn't announced on teamspeak and quickly fixed as quite a few skillful players moved over to the losing team.
Everytime I have seen a problem with the teams when the players were able to fix it (Autobalance being off), it has been fixed. There are more than enough players that are willing to switch to the losing team to help them achieve some wins.
As it stands now with autobalance on, I have seen more than twice as many occurences of one team dominating the other with no real way to fix the issue.
I agree that players switching to the winning team is a problem. Having too many players on one side is a problem (24 to 15 as an example, which is balanced out within the first minute atleast).
The biggest issue I have is when all of the skillful players end up on one side when the other team is already losing badly. Some of the best players I know will load into a round and because of autobalance, they are put onto the winning team. The losing team gets crushed even harder. Most of these players of which I know would be more than wanting to move over to the other side to help balance it out, cannot.
