Re: Mondays and Fridays
Love this! Friday night was a blast, getting to play some Minsk, Tampa, plus larger versions of some of our standards. Sad that I probably won't make it tonight due to both of my kids having ball practice, because infantry only is def. my favorite.

Re: Mondays and Fridays
Really enjoyed the infantry only last night. I'd like to make one suggestion though. On short maps with 100 tickets, could we do back-to-back rounds of the same map? People were saying last night how the ticket count seemed too low on Verdun and Shuhia so it could be fun to simply switch sides before we move onto another larger map.

Re: Mondays and Fridays
heh... yeah there were a few REALLY short rounds last night.. I've got a slow-loading PC and it felt like I spent equal time loading and playing

Re: Mondays and Fridays
I think it's a great idea. I'm assuming to up the ticket count would cause us to be unranked and isn't possible at this time. Playing a few of the maps back-to-back would have been nice, especially after the 2 min Shuhia Tibia round.

Re: Mondays and Fridays
Played for almost 3 hours last night on the 60-person infantry-only maps and wanted to provide some feedback and maybe spark a discussion.
First a big thank-you to the admins for addressing the very unfortunate situation that arose with the same team stuck trying to break through (and being pummeled) on 3 of 4 maps early in the evening (Gibby, Cerbere and Shingle). It was very much appreciated that our great admins were able to address things in such a timely manner.
I REALLY didn't care for the play experience last night and suspect the blame lies in the increased server size. The server felt like a 64-person gibby-fest the whole night. There appeared to be little in the way of co-ordination or strategic play. Or, more accurately, any strategic play was lost in the chaos and confusion of the overall mess. I was surprised at the radical difference brought about by an extra 12 players. Even maps were OK, but assault maps weren't much fun for me or my squad mates, either defending or attacking.
Infantry-only is a nice change of pace, but I think to really appreciate it we need the normal 46/48 server pop cap, or maybe even shrink a little to a 38/40 server pop. The larger armour maps lend themselves to the larger server pop, so it makes sense to keep it for those nights.
Of course, these are just my opinions based on my own negative experience last night. I'm curious what the opinions of others who played last night are? Did you enjoy it? Did you find the teamwork up to the normal high levels we expect from TG? Did you find the larger population changed the "feel" of the game for you? Did you find the change a positive, negative or neutral one?
Apologies if this comes across as less-than-constructive. I slept on it before posting but still got a little grumpy writing it up...

Re: Mondays and Fridays
Phew.. I thought it was going to be like this every night.
It seemed to me that there were just way too many chokepoints. A couple of fastmovers wouldve made the difference but what do i know.

Re: Mondays and Fridays
I agree to a point. I actually like the larger number. I thought it provided a bit more action. Though, there were times(Think care bare) where it was a bit TOO much. At the beginning yesterday, the map rotation was not good. We had one team at one point attacking 4 our of 6 rounds and 1 even map after 3 of them. It got tiring. I think the idea is great of these special nights, and we need a few more to iron our the bugs. Perhaps members could use the Make Your Own Rotation Thread to give some ideas?

Re: Mondays and Fridays
I agree with Zot, I'd prefer a lower pop cap for Infantry only Monday's. Increasing the pop cap for Friday's matches which can benefit from it is great. For infantry only, with the maps that are suited for that style are much more enjoyable with a lower pop cap.

Re: Mondays and Fridays
While the night was very fun, and there were a few very memorable fights, I can't say the night went off without a hitch.
The rotation, especially early on, was well, bad. Back to back to back assault rounds for the same team is never a good thing. The extra players really made this issue apparent as each round turned into a bloody mess for the assaulting side. While I was thankful that the admin team was able to, for the most part, correct it in short order, I felt that even the replacement rotation was somewhat lacking.
While it was nice to play some of the larger maps infantry only, some really did not translate well. Shuhia Taiba 16 is awesome, Shuhia Taiba 32 kind of sucked. EU had a major advantage getting to the top hill that allowed them to control the high ground very, very easily and as such dominate the round. Verdun 32 was interesting... but just turned into a ganz fest. It would be one I would not mind trying again, but I still prefer the 16 player version for it's tight quarters and intense fire fights. I felt Sidi 32 was actually kind of fun, but maybe it was just because of the few well placed RDX I had on that map.
I think the most fun of the night came from the head to head maps like Tunis Harbor and Belgrade. though I would have like a round or two on Tiny Tunis.
The larger 58 person player count was interesting, but in my opinion detracted from the overall flow of the game. A lot of the best infantry only maps are the smaller 16 player versions. The problem is with 30 people on each side, 100 tickets goes by way too fast leading to games that don't last very long at all. I think next week we should really consider either leaver the sever count at its normal 46 or even dropping it a few possibly to the 30-34 range. Not only will this allow for longer matches on the smaller maps, but it should also make the assaulting maps more interesting by decreasing the odds of the "toll station stand off" so to speak.
Overall I thought it was a lot of fun, and I look forward to next week.

Re: Mondays and Fridays
Next monday the server should be setup as originally intended - the 60 player count was a product of a sync issue in the admin team. I'll double check the rotation for assault balance issues as well.
