An Example of Why I love the TG Server

...And why I'm annoyed at my Northern Strike not working.

So, since my Northern Strike was not working, I decided to play on a different server. There was no commander, so I decided to take the job. The Map was Berlin and I was playing on the PAC side.

The match starts out well and I help get one of my squads through to start taking the back flags. We nab square and about have outpost. Their team pops back to defend outpost and we push forward to nab every other flag. Now we have them nice and hemmed in.

Well, the game progresses into a slugging match at Outpost except for this one enemy squad who seems to have a roof top beacon near the PAC uncap. They will pop in, try to take crossroads and sometimes succeed, sometimes fail but we always end up retaking it. That combined with my teammates tossing themselves into the meatgrinder at outpost, rather than holding back and just bleeding them with rockets (which I suggested they do) means that the ticket difference is tight.

Well, one guy decides that I'm an idiot because I'm not doing more to protect crossroads. Maybe he's right but he starts to get beligerent about it (cursing, etc. etc.) and actually at one point, runs over and TKs me in our Uncap. The game ends at 4 tickets to 0, EU winning. It occurs to me that if that one guy was as smart as he claimed to be, he probably could've knocked off 4 people rather than running back to the Uncap to TK me.

So, what from this makes me thankful for TG?

1) No Rooftop beacons
2) Experienced Squad Leaders who know not to throw away tickets
3) Most people in squads so that my orders would actually reach the players
4) Mature players who know that this is a game

Thank you TG. Now, help me fix my Northern Strike piece so I don't have to deal with that again.

I keep getting an unmodified content error. I restarted the client a couple of times and I don't think there's a patching issue.

This is the common error, I fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling everything in correct order. I was told that there was faster way, but I hope some1 would confirm (and give you whole reinstall guide which can be found with search in any case)

And yeah TG is precious for us all, unfortunately I can't play there for the whole day and sometimes I get lost into the sad pubby servers where we have no change in any case!

Yeah, you can re-patch over your current install, by changing your current version in regedit, to 1.10. Then you need to patch 1.40, install NS, patch 1.40 again, and then finally 1.50.

Try the regedit and repatching 1.5, works for quite a few people.

4. If you need to make a back up select "File" and then the 2nd option named "Export". Select where you want the backup and then save it.
5. Over on the left is a frame with all the registry "Folders" for lack of a better word. The third(or so) one should be "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE". Next to it , on the left, is a plus sign. Click on it to expand it.
6. Click the plus (+) sign next to "Software".
7. Click the plus (+) sign next to "Electronic Arts".
8. Click the plus (+) sign next to "EA GAMES". Yes, it is in capitals.
9. Click the plus (+) sign next to "Battlefield 2142".
10. Find the registry key(entry) called Version.
11. Right click on it and select "Modify".
12. Modify it to 1.10
13. Exit the registry editor.
14. Install the latest official patch.
15. Try to join the server again.

Re: An Example of Why I love the TG Server

bump - everyone in TG should read StormTAG's first post (before it goes into how to fix NS) and remember it before they start nitpicking about the little imperfections that may exist in TG. I, too am glad for TG, for the same reasons and more!

Re: An Example of Why I love the TG Server

Don't forget little competition for assets (2 experienced players have a gunship), instead of 8 players pressing E until the gunship spawns.

No mutinies

Responsible use of tanks/buggies (I don't think I've seen a suicidal tank on the map with Trash Dump/Inner Dock/etc).

Zero titan maps (though it might be interesting to play one round with it).

Memerable personalities

and the hug-able server crashes
