Re: Nice frag vid from Lolyn

Was fun to watch, he's obviously skilled at aiming from the amount of close and quickly taken sniper shots, and also the way he kept popping in and out of cover to catch multiple enemies off guard was pretty cool. The use of the Herzog was great, because he wasted quite a few bullets spraying up-close, some of which missed, and the fact he was up against multiple enemies at one time, as soon as his clip ran out, he just switched to the Herzog and could then keep mowing people down.

Nice vid, although he needs to stop with the LSD! The amount of shaking and cutting was crazy, but it actually did work on quite a few occasions, especially when it was in 3rd person slow-mo, and then suddenly went fast with the song into fast FPS action.

well edited, but boring. C+

Re: Nice frag vid from Lolyn

Where did you get this from, Tark? :P

Anyway guys, this is nothing compared to your teamwork videos, which are awesome btw. This is a "frag-video", it is all about the kills, which fits the effects nicely. Those effects would become a LSD-massacre in one of your videos.
Lolyn plays mostly Clanmod, which always shows his style; alot of crouching, behind cover, always headshots - so again a completly different kind of gamestyle than the good ol' TG server. But he is one of the best players atm. in Europe in my eyes, when it comes to Clanmod.

I have played with and against him lots of times, and as you can see the most epic moment is at 5:10, where I get killed.

Here is another video from a different player, but same "style" (medic/clanmod only though):

Because shooting people is part of the game too dude .

Edit: That other vid is pretty cool too Remi, but the bunnyhopping in tricky situations was...interesting . I think they like Clanmod because they like being able to pick up the Krylov all the time, all they have to do is get a kill with the SCAR and then they can pick it up with the defib and Herzog too.

Edit 2: Just realised where that first track is from - A CoD4 Frag vid like the ones above and this player and vid is kind of a big deal, if you don't like the other ones in this thread you won't like this.

Re: Nice frag vid from Lolyn

I've never seen the attraction to these types of videos. Given that my work is in the gaming world (I develop gaming websites) I've seen quite a few and, in the end, they are all the same:

shoot one guy - cut - shoot another 2 or 3 guys - cut - ad naseum (until you're sick :P)

At the end of the day it's just showing off and the videos that we normally get on TG are much more worthwhile. Those rare moments when you get a blind TV missile hit on a buggy, or snipe a gunship across the map with a tank or curve your AT missile into the back of an unsuspecting victims tank! Those are the moments worth capturing in video for the spectacle.

If you really want to show off stop solo piloting gunships, stop lone wolfing with a sniper rifle or herzog and pick up a squad lead. Honestly, I've only been SLing for a little bit but I already have moments I wish I could share on video because they just make me so proud of my squad members!

No need to rant

Take these videos as they are, a "Frag movie", it is only about killing. It is completly different than your videos, totally agreed. But there is no need for discussion about it or ranting, take the videos as they are. COD4 videos are also Frag movies, you are not watching them because you wanted to see some teamplay-based, but you are watching them because of the shooting - it is the same thing about this video by Lolyn.

And to Lolyns defense, he is an amazing teamplayer. No wonder that his clan EUaim is number 1 in Europe on ESL and just won the Clanbase spring cup.

While I don't find frag videos as rewarding, I always enjoy watching them to see what was done right. Most of the vids we see are battle recorder based. I like seeing the first person to see if I can pick up a good habit or two.

Incidentally, I thought the herzog used your rifle ammo, not seperate ammo, like the rockets. I'll have to take a look later.

Yeah, Herzog, shares the same Rocket ammo.

Re: Nice frag vid from Lolyn

Lol, hadn't realised my video had made it here....

Thanks for the comments, both critical and complimentary. I understand that this is probably entirely the wrong audience for the type of video it is (like.. you cannot compare mine or silvers videos for a start) - however I will say a few things to put some clarity to the video, since I feel I have been harshly judged by some who seem to think that no video evidence of teamplay = no teamplay at all.

1) All infantry footage is filmed on clanmod, against the upper echelon of european battlefield players. Hence there's a reason I generally get between 2-5 kills and then move to another clip. Simply because - it's freakin' hard (and if you disagree, go try and do better ^^) Send me on a public server and I'll destroy far far more, but there's no credence in killing lower skilled players with your best weapons and bragging about it in a video.

2) Editing, well, I'm learning as I go... I'm already making another movie for one of Europes best players, triggY69 (a French LAN champion)... and already by making that last movie, I know what to do and more importantly, what not to do for the next one. So there will be less LSD yes ^^

3) It is a frag movie, by now some of you have realised ^^ - Teamwork is something I do everytime I load up the game without thought. I use voip, ventrilo, I am a MASSIVE revive junkie - and I'm a pro-active squad leader, setting and completing objectives. You don't see this in a video because... it's a frag movie. If you want to see it, then find me in game It's far more fun playing with a good teamplayer than watching one on video IMHO. To assume I don't use teamwork because I don't demonstrate it in a video is... silly - knyghtmare, how does 820 well-spent hours squad leading sound to you? You can do a good job as SL and go rambo with the kills (in fact, it helps, especially if you can bully your way past choke points and settle yourself in a nice position for SM's to spawn). But blahblah, find me in game and I will readily demonstrate this
As remi says, for anybody who's willing to dispatch me as a non-teamplayer, my team is currently #1 in ESL and just won the clanbase cup, beating some difficult teams to get there. Now granted we have a scary set of players, but our teamwork is paramount in beating the competition, and I'd argue that as a unit we work far more smoothly than any other clan on the field, and our achievements, and the amount of fun we have playing together represent that. I could happily demonstrate my point further in writing, but find me in game, it's easier ^^ there is some phenomenal teamwork outside of TG too, yknow

Anywho, not here to argue. As I said... I didn't expect it to be circulated this far and it certainely isn't the niche of 2142 that best suits TG's approach/gameplay style. Thanks for the feedback!

<3 Remi

Hi Lolyn,

I saw your video when Remi posted it on the MG forums, and thought I'd post it over here, mainly for the editing and presentation. It's much more a high intensity/short cuts MTV style, than some of the Documentary Channel "Anatomy of a round" explanatory vids out there, but you cant deny its fun and well made.

It's also get me using the Herzog

Hey there LolyN, it's nice to see you in the forums here (and hope it won't be the last)

Although it's true that your vid isn't exactly 100% TG-palatable it did raise a few eyebrows as to your skill and you are deserving of congratulations for that. For the record though, will you be creating a teamwork vid to compliment the frag one?

TG is a community that is always willing to learn about new or re-examined skills for its members and always has its eyes and ears open to fresh ideas. If anyone is willing to contribute or even pass-on a portion of their experience in an informative manner then they are welcomed.

Thanks again for stopping by mate

Hey LolyN, I'm zew45s and I'm ytrnjdikzgt also, that russian guy who wrote a silly comment back at YouTube. Glad you're here. My comm there was stupid enough considering my age, so forget this sh..t man. I just got envy watching your vid, coz I hardly can do the same.
I don't play 2142 yet, only PoE2 on TG, so stop by to play sometime on Tuesdays and Fridays, I'm a medic there.
See ya!

@LolyN:
As much as I distaste your style of play, you are extremely effective in a deathmatch setting and I would fear you if I came across you, personally. However, at TG we tend to revere the squad over the squadmate. To quote 300's Leonidas,

Quote:
In the end, a Spartan's true strength is the warrior next to him. So give respect and honor to him, and it will be returned to you. First, you fight with your head.
That statement embodies the whole of my new philosophy in squad leadership. I base my success in flags taken, points defended, and squad morale.

@zew45s:
Please do not use profanities here.

Re: Nice frag vid from Lolyn

Hey guys.

tark - herzog will be one of the most infuriating weapons you can use mostly because it's so, unpredictable with one hit kills.... practice with it will be rewarding though, and it will help you also work on long range shooting with your primary since you won't be using rockets.

thanks for the warm welcome, insunabula - as of this moment I've got two videos in the making... the aforementioned video of the LAN player (which will be a frag movie, with already from the footage he has sent me, even better skills and kills). The second will be a clan movie, which is likely to be a mix of recorded matches and first person kills. So neither will really be the sort of movie that will really garner attention here... although I like the idea of a teamplay movie. Maybe once I've gotten those others out of the way I can work on some form of teamplay/FPS-frag movie mix (I don't think I could go exclusively on teamplay as, each to their own but you can guess what style of movie I prefer ).

zews - lol, don't worry about it, thanks for coming clean about it though. I don't actually play PoE2 (I don't play many other games for that matter), so unless you end up playing 2142 anytime soon I think it's unlikely our paths will cross.

to picric - as I said in my first post, feel free to find me on a server and I will demonstrate that I am more than fully capable of being either a worthy addition to a squad in its objectives, or a sound squad leader capable of leading a team to victory (I still find that on public servers, I'm one of the more pro-active players in completing objectives and ultimately securing a team victory). I've always been a firm believer in squad play ethics and an overall play-to-enjoy-it atmos, it's just not the content I would put in a frag movie

And I'm actually not great as a deathmatch player Stick me in a cohesive squad with good teamplayers and I'm far more effective, that and I find playing more fun too as nothing beats reciprocal teamplay.

Maybe I'll hop onto the TG server at some point, although I usually avoid US servers, as based on past experience I tend to lag a lot, especially on larger servers.
