TAD Open Invitational Ladder
I'm coming on behalf of The Allied Defense, a Battlefield 2142 clan that is hosting an open invitational ladder, meaning all clans and players are welcome to join and compete in the ladder. As of now, the start date for the ladder is the 14th of August, 2009. This ladder will run up until New Years Eve of this year, meaning there is plenty of time to get games in for the competition. We are hoping for a good turnout of clans and players what want to play squad-based tactical games on conquest maps no larger than 16 man, meaning 8 v 8 is the maximum and allows for variations of teams within each clan.
All interested clans/players/admins can contact me through one of the following ways:
E-mail: cwright16@hotmail.com
Xfire: zer0fact0r (nickname: |TAD| NightBlade |IGF|)
MSN Messenger: cwright16@hotmail.com
Xfire Group: xfire.com/clans/tadladder/
Clan Web Page: theallieddefense.com
I look forward to hearing from anyone interested, and formal invitations will be sent out to all known and found clans interested in the ladder.

Re: TAD Open Invitational Ladder
aren't open and invitational sort of mutually exclusive? ;-)

The 101st might be interested in such a thing, I'll post again here if I have a more definitive answer.
And, ignore the sarcasm from the above posters....

Re: TAD Open Invitational Ladder
Not to rain on anyone's parade, but before entering one of these, make sure you know a few things:
1. Do you have faith that this will be a well run and efficiently run thing?
2. Do you have faith that all or most of the participants will continue to participate throughout its six month course?
3. Do you have faith individually that not only will it be well run, but that the organizer won't just disappear on you in the middle of the contest
Make those inquiries before signing up, and then make your decision if it's a competition worth joining. Poorly run competitions can be a ball-and-chain for a team.

Re: TAD Open Invitational Ladder
The beginning will be fun.
Isn't that reason enough to at least try it?
Maybe the end will be fun too, but at least we have new experience and heightened competition.
If it is poorly run, what's wrong with dropping out when everyone else drops out?
Personally, I'm indifferent. If it happens and works well, cool. If it doesn't, there's always great teamplay at TG to keep me satisfied.Without teamwork, you'll never survive.
Without betrayal you'll never win.

Re: TAD Open Invitational Ladder
Well, it being poorly run involves other frustrations. For example, if it takes him two weeks longer than it should to schedule the next matches. Or if the organizer doesn't know how to deal with disputes well.
And about beginning but not ending? These things are investments of time. It can be pretty frustrating to invest all that time only to realize you're not going to get to finish.
I'm not saying this is a bad ladder/tournament or whatever. It's certainly possible that this will be really well run and a lot of fun. It's just that it's definitely something to think about in advance.

I guess you guys are right. It does seem to be created on a whim.. I don't see rules, specific info, etc.. The last two posts was enough to make me twitch.
Oh well.Without teamwork, you'll never survive.

Re: TAD Open Invitational Ladder
I think Zoraster is highlighting a few important issues (I imagine he's talking from experience here). If you start inviting people before the foundations are properly laid, it shows poor planning already. That being said, don't count them out just yet - lets see what surfaces

Re: TAD Open Invitational Ladder
Well before you guys jump to any conclusions that this Zoraster fellow has come up with, you should ask the organizer questions first. As far as invitations go Zoraster, I stated that I would be sending FORMALM INVITATIONS out to all interested clans. I did not say that this was the invitation, this is the initial contact post to find out which clans and/or players are interested, and if they provide me with their e-mail address, then I can send them the proper information with the actual ladder host web site, which happens to be battlestats.com/events/?2768 and all are welcome to view it.
As far as the event just dropping, BattleStats.com has been running events since 1998, and there have been no cases of the event just falling apart. The system is self-sustaining, all input is done by the players/participants. The system automatically calculates rankings, kill/death ratios, etc. At the end of the event awards are given to winners (although they are not actual awards you have in your hand).
As far as an admin disappearing, that is why 5 of them are put into place, and there have been no instances where that has happened. As stated before, BSC is class system.
If you guys have any other questions, contact me personally, don't take the word of a guy making assumptions.

Re: TAD Open Invitational Ladder
Easy tiger, Zoraster was just passing comments on what the guys should be looking out for if they intend to take your offer seriously, nothing more.
From what you're saying there is a lot more going into this ladder than you first mentioned. Take this as a learning experience: when approaching communities/clans try to give a little more details in your initial post to stop any negative press evolving (kind of like nipping things in the bud) and you may find that there will be a lot more acceptance.

Re: TAD Open Invitational Ladder
I understand that, I just don't people to make the wrong assumptions about the ladder before they actually get the formal invite with all of the details.
