TAD Open Invitational Ladder Rules (In-Game)

I apologize for not having included this in my initial post. I have also posted this list on the Ladder's Xfire Group Page. If you wish to join the Xfire group, the page is xfire.com/clans/tadladder and we will be happy to accept you. We also have a forum on that page setup for you to inquire about details.

Below I have Listed the in-game rules for the TAD Open Invitational Ladder. We did our best to keep the tournament clean and free of players wanting to ruin the tactical/clean game atmosphere. I will admit I did use many of the TG rules as a guideline to help me out, but there you have it. All of our admins have read and approved, if you feel something is missing, please let us know via the Xfire group or this post.

    Teamplay/Squad Play
Ladder participants are required to play in a squad for the duration of any round being submitted in the Ladder standings. We do this to help develop the teamwork aspect of the game, as well as to keep players directed toward a common goal on the battlefield, rather than having four or five players running in all directions.

Commanders are allowed in the tournament, however they are not allowed to participate in the actual combat during their time as a commander. Any player reported as having been playing a role in the combat while having Commander status will be removed from the game, his/her team will be penalized 100 global score points, and they will not get credit for any points earned in the game.

We are serious about this rule, as are many other clans, no one likes a commander who runs around playing with the capability to call pinpoint strikes on an enemy position.

    Bunny-Hopping
Bunny-hopping is absolutely prohibited in combat. We do not encourage players to jump around to try and become a harder target to hit.

However, this does not include jumping to reach a ladder, jumping to help your throwing (grenades, etc.), or jumping out of the way of an incoming vehicle.

If someone is caught bunny-hopping, or is reported as having been bunny-hopping by a clan leader/admin, then they will be removed from the game and all accumulated points will be lost for that round.

    VoIP/Personal Communications
Players are required to have some manner of personal communications in place, whether it be through Ventrilo, Teamspeak, or the server VoIP communications. You are not, however, required to have a microphone, although it is strongly recommended. BUT if you are a squad leader, a microphone is required to relay commands to your squad members.

    Spawn Camping
Spawn camping is an absolutely prohibited offence. If you are caught spawn camping the enemy's flag or uncappable base (UCB) then you and your team will be immediately disqualified from the round and a win will be awarded to the opposing team. We do not take lightly to this rule.

However, if you enter and enemy's UCB with the intent to solely destroy command utilities, then that is permitted. You are not allow to steal an enemy vehicle and wait for players to spawn unaware of your being there. You are not allowed to attack a commander, unless that commander makes the initial attack. There's nothing more annoying than giving orders to squad leaders, and out of nowhere you get shot or knifed. Do not do it.

You are permitted to chase an enemy back to their UCB, but you are not permitted to enter and remain.

This also goes for entering a UCB or known-spawn area and placing RDX or APM Mines.

However, if a player chooses to spawn on a flag that is currently under attack (and don't try to kid anyone, everybody knows when a flag is under attack) then you do so aware of the possible consequences.

    Vehicle Use
Please keep it realistic, do not use vehicles to ram, do not load a Fast Assault Vehicle (FAV) with RDX and drive it into an opposing team's vehicle. Do not drive around the map continuously with the intent to run over infantry personnel. These are not tactics conducive to a well played round in this tournament.

Do not use a gunship to capture a flag, due to the fact that in tournaments such as this, rarely do players come equipped with the necessary gear to take down such an opponent. If you are using an assault vehicle such as a gunship, then use it to attack, not fly around capping faster than land vehicles can move.

Alternatively, APC/Transport pods are not permitted for use in killing/taking down gunships or other vehicles.

We're trying to keep it clean and realistic.

    Suicide
Suiciding is not permitted within ladder matches. Specifically, no suiciding to change kits because yours happens to be inconvenient at the time, you have to adapt. No suiciding to get to a strategic point on the map, or to gain access to a control point which is being attacked.

No placing RDX with the intention of killing yourself and taking an enemy with you (vehicle ramming, CP camping, etc.). Use common sense and work as a team, if you do, then suiciding is not an option, you can overcome obstacles.

    Hacking
Hacking is definitely prohibited. Anyone caught hacking on any of the servers involved with this ladder will be immediately removed from the game, as well as the tournament and will not be invited back to any following events.

Also, players are not allowed to make assumptions regarding a player based on a high score. Just because a player manages to go 15 - 0 does not mean they are hacking. You must have concrete evidence before making an accusation.

    Squad Leader Spawn Points
Squad Beacons are not to be placed in areas unreachable by normal means. Normal means do not include areas wherein RDX packs must be used to access (ex. roof tops). All areas where squad beacons are placed must be accessible by both teams, this helps keep the game fair and competitive. Offenders of this rule will lose 50 Global Score points per squad member.

    Respect
Respect is the name of the game, if you respect your opponent, you will receive like treatment. We encourage people to play competitively, but also to enjoy yourselves and learn to make friends. Who knows, perhaps someday you will be playing alongside a player you are presently playing opposite.

    Fun
This is the number one reason people play these games: Fun. Do not spoil it for anyone, use common sense, play as a team, and everyone will come out on top.

Hm.... looks oddly similar to this http://www.tacticalgamer.com/battlef...uidelines.html

Looks like a great set of rules, best of luck in organizing and keeping everything under control.

Glad to see those who doubted you in the other thread proved wrong. You obviously know what you're doing, and know how you want to do it. People shouldn't be jumping to conclusions assuming that TG is the only server that utilises this rule set.

I'm sure you'll have a big turnout from many, if not all, IHS' (clans) here.

    Thankyou for the support gentlemen

I appreciate it, we're hoping to run a successful event and perhaps partner up with another organization in the future to hold more.

Interesting ruleset indeed, usually it's (mostly) anything goes, nice to see you haven't gone with that mindset.

Edit: And Logical I don't think anyone was saying it was gonna be a bad ladder. If you're referring to Zoraster, I think he was just kindly giving some advice to some of our members who may be less experienced with ladders, and just telling them to find out more about it before committing - sensible comments I'd think, especially since we don't know anything about them.

One thing seems to be missing. Is the tournament run with friendly fire on or off? I'm guessing by the suicide rule, that is it on, but I just want to clarify.

My friends call me Y. My enemies call me... well, that's a secret.

Re: TAD Open Invitational Ladder Rules (In-Game)

I'm glad my initial perspective is looking brighter. I'm glad you've decided to invite clans who value respect.

Given that, my next question might not be relevant..

    What about the following?

rotating squad leaders to create better spawn points
Nascaring (Using a buggy to go round in circles with intent of ramming)
    dolphin diving
TK with the attempt to heal from 0 to 100 quickly
    stealing vehicles from the uncap
An asset squad stealing a buggy/tank/wtv to escape
An asset squad remaining at UCB, not killing anyone, but destroying assets
An asset squad destroying UCB vehicles
Place motion mines with the intent that vehicles don't leave the uncap.. the motion mines aren't physically in the uncap (for example, Tunis 48 player. Both sides have a bottleneck).
Proper use of CO assets (no orbitalling uncap)
    Without teamwork, you'll never survive.
    Without betrayal you'll never win.
