Re: Announcing The 128 CCS Custom Map Event!
First Come, First Serve. I had the sign-ups for a while because we'd limit it to 48 total, but the admins thought it would be better as a FCFS event. Just show up around noon eastern.

Re: Announcing The 128 CCS Custom Map Event!
I'm soooo looking forward to this...
are we using our TS channel.. or are you gonna set up an 'special' one for this event?
I think also when the game starts.. we should devide us in two channels..
EU & PAC (duh) so the squad leaders can talk to each other as well......

Re: Announcing The 128 CCS Custom Map Event!
There is currently no event channel in place. I'm hoping one of our kind admins will make us one.

Re: Announcing The 128 CCS Custom Map Event!
We need an admin to be here to restart the map and change map sizes depending on turnout

Re: Announcing The 128 CCS Custom Map Event!
This event had some promise, but ended up failing for a number of reasons.
1. Lag was a problem
2. We didn't have a huge turnout. 20 people wasn't really enough to try these maps.
3. Perhaps most importantly, the maps chosen for whatever reason were armor fests. It's like the designers made a pretty cool map and then thought "you know what would be awesome to add?? 4 walkers, 4 tanks and 2 gunships!" It would have been far more fun if it had done something like a walker for each side and buggies.
Anyway, I thank the 128th for organizing this, but I'd suggest finding small scale infantry based maps if you try it again.

Re: Announcing The 128 CCS Custom Map Event!
Yeah the maps felt pretty "Suezish" where you have long runs between flags and the flags serve no purpose. Just stay at one and wait it out somehow.
If a custom map event should come again it should maybe be a bit more into TG primetime and the maps chosen should not be as armor loving

Re: Announcing The 128 CCS Custom Map Event!
I'd have to agree with the previous two sentiments.
1. We need a proper server to run custom maps -- a powerful one that can compensate for memory leaks inherent in these unoptimized maps.
2. Also a server located somewhere near the majority of the players: ie. the east coast of North America.
3. The time wasn't a huge issue, but it was 9AM on a Saturday for us West Coast people. Not that many of us, so it's not a huge concern, but it would have been nice.
4. Map sizes fitted to the amount of people.
5. Temporary CC access to the event organizers. Dealing with admins is just time consuming and it's difficult to find them. I doubt it'd be the end of the world if an event organizer (who was sure to be there) was granted CC rights for a few hours on the server.
6. Actual team organization. Nothing major or serious, but just maybe a channel where everyone can voice smart ideas for the team. Nothing serious like tacticalconflict planning, but at least a way to benefit from other people's brief exploration of the map.Fight!
