Re: Recon or support
Support... All the way down.
Emp-Nades first and then try to get the IDS.
These 2 unlocks are beside the rockets and the Defib the most powerful weapons in the game. I can´t count the times i have asked for a support with these two things equipped.. oh wait i can actually count it.. every time! It´s unthinkable important to have these thing available for your squad.
I hope this helps you to decide

Re: Recon or support
4.5. Support definitely before Recon. Emp is good but not always needed since on some maps armor is both light and limited in where it can roam. Supplies, however, are almost always in short supply. And at least get up to the Ganz so you can temp-unlock the IDS.
Now if it were Engie vs. Recon that'd be a tougher call.

Re: Recon or support
Remember , that the Support Netbat detects cloaked Recons and that the EMP-Nades are still quite useful against Infantry... but we talked about that already

But what is important right now i think is just that he most likely will asked to come in Support 100 more often than he will get asked to come in Recon... If he gets ask.His capacity for love lost, the man accepts it into his glas of dispair. The Flames of burning anger unquenched, the man keeps drinking... but never gets drunk

Re: Recon or support
Uh-oh, Zho looks like you better teach another support class!

EMP is the only other really useful thing besides the IDS that the support can carry. Sure sentry guns might get you a kill or two but they are generally fairly useless. If the map has any armor at all I always carry EMP. Think about it, if you can get a lock on said armor then said armor is dead and you have saved your squad from certain ruin.

Re: Recon or support
EMP grenade is also pretty useful for fuzzing up the enemies screens, turning an even battle in your favour (presuming that you throw it before engaging the enemy)

Re: Recon or support
Bollocks.
It is situational and you can always swap out. Lemme put it this way. Tunis, the enemy walker is down. It respawns in what, 3-5 minutes? What is more useful in that time, an EMP you'll probably never throw or a sentry gun which at least provides a deterrent?EMP is the only other really useful thing besides the IDS that the support can carry. Sure sentry guns might get you a kill or two but they are generally fairly useless. If the map has any armor at all I always carry EMP.
Which is more useful when you're defending that heavily wooded point on Belgrade? An EMP you'll probably never throw or the gun?
Defib is always of use, even if you're the only med because someone can kit switch. EMP is almost always of use; but sometimes it is just wasted pack space. Thus my original point stands, EMP is good but not always needed. Besides, the whole point is moot (not mute) within the context of the discussion at hand since we all agree on the IDS, including me. The first step to that is the EMP, the third is the sentry gun. So it isn't like I'm advocating not unlocking the EMP nor never carrying it. Kind of impossible. :P
Yes, hence why I did not say it was never useful or even rarely useful. I said it was not always needed. I point I stand by since it was replying to BM's extremely high evaluation of the EMP.Think about it, if you can get a lock on said armor then said armor is dead and you have saved your squad from certain ruin.
Not that I mind learning but I do mind, a tad, when someone takes what I wrote and blows it out of proportion and then expounds upon the blown out of proportion point instead if the one I actually made.Sry didn't mean to derail this thread but Zho's hypnotic skills force me to expound on the way of the EMP grenade!
