Re: Gunship Video
good advice, thanks ctfalcon. I have a question:
I was tryin to hit a TBG'er last night solo flying, and missed 3 TV's in a row on him, all were when he was flying at speed below me (they looked like they went through him). I aimed for alightly behind the engines, and one was aimed at his right engine as he sped away from me. Any advice?
((Insert slightly witty, yet incredibly common-sensical quote here, to possibly ellicit a comment in one of thousands of posts on a rather popular web forum.))

Re: Gunship Video
^I've noticed this as well.

Playing BF2142 as:

I'm always open for tips, tutorials and training in the gunship while online, just ask :)
Currently taking a break from MW2, but when I play its as:
eXileD// DeTeR
Even if you don't consider that I only have 7 days played in the gunship I'm one of the best pilots in the game
I will always accept a 1v1, friendly or not

Re: Gunship Video
Without knowing the angles it's tough for me to say, a couple things though:
If the gunship is going away from you at speed the only reliable hit box is the absolute tip of the tail.
If the gunship is moving away from you but at an angle then you want to aim to the outside and slightly behind his tail.
If the gunship is moving almost perpendicular to you then you have virtually no chance to hit it if he has a decent amount of speed going. I've put thousands upon thousands of TV's through enemy gunships, it's just an unfortunate aspect of the game.

Re: Gunship Video
One question, do you put the sensitivity rates all the way up for air vehicles?

Re: Gunship Video
I think one of the most important moves to learn is to fly upside down. It can get you out of many a tight spot. Basically, the game doesn't allow you to fly perfectly paralell to the ground. But, if you tip the nose of the gunship just above the horizon, the game recognizes this as normal flight, and you can fly as far as you want (within the boundaries of the map of course) as long as you hold this position.
Bad diagram:
<----- this end is the nose
bottom of gunship-----> / <----- top of gunship
The nose can be titled a little more towards the hotizon, but you get the general idea. As long as you hold this position you won't lose altitude.

Re: Gunship Video
You can do it on default but its easier when you max your sensitivities. I've tried both ways and I like my controls maxed rather than default.
Another important thing to remember when dogfighting is that if you get out of their firing cone, you won't be hit. Whenever my opponent and I end up circling each other this is generally what happens:
1. Opponent fires all missiles (this happens with 90% of all pilots-all in one blast), I fire two or three
2. Both pop shields, he starts to reload I fire when his shields die.
(The dogfight can end here if my missiles are on target. By this point usually he is severely wounded while I hopefully have sustained minimum damage if he hasn't died)
3. If he survives, his missiles are going to recharge before mine do inevitably, so just staying still is not an option, as shields haven't recharged either. So now I delay and get out of firing range by sliding under him (provided we are high enough up, if not I go over), and then either hit him with a TV missile (if I am soloing) or continue sliding out of his cone of fire. When my missiles have recharged I fire enough missiles to kill him, or until his shields come up.
4 if needed repeat, but instead of sliding under him as in step 3 I choose another way to get behind or to the side.
Keeping momentum is very useful in dogfights. If possible always be moving when your opponent is recharging missiles. Anything to delay being hit.
Also, if your opponent seems like a better pilot, never ever run. 95% of the time even with players who aren't very experienced they will just hunt you down and you will die. You cannot fight back when you are running, and they can, so don't do it.

Re: Gunship Video
Yes... Now I understand why you only fire 2 missiles for. As for the TV missile part, can you set the TV to automatically be on when you shift to the gunner's position? Or do you have to right click fist, then shoot the TV?

Nope, you have to do it manually every time.

Really? With my luck I'd do that and hit a pole or something while trying to TV the other pilot.

Re: Gunship Video
If you're attacking another gunship you probably shouldn't be that close to the ground anyways, and you generally shouldn't be trying to TV targets that are at very long ranges. Most TVs should be medium range-less than 150m.
