Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
I have a map that I'm working on you guys could use. It's a tropical island used as an EU base, with a shot down PAC titan. It's decently sized and I haven't finalized things like what armor will be available. It might be a bit on the smaller side but should offer lots of cover. Or I could make something new from scratch, a custom map for ya. A month should be enough time for me to make something pretty decent. If for some reason I can't finish, you can just pick another map. Just offering if you guys are up for it. The only things I'll need are a rundown to how you want it to look and some sort of set up for flags, just not anything to overly complicated, I'm a perfectionist and I go crazy over small details. I should be able to make something that's quite large but good for close quarters. I used to make Quake maps so I know how to set up fast paced levels with good flow.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
I appreciate the offer, but with custom maps, I'd rather stick to something that has already proven itself. I in no way mean to question your map making abilities, but custom maps are finicky things. I'd be more comfortable using TGW's maps. In any case, I'd like to get the map decided on by Sunday so that those who want can try it out. We might throw a couple of Wednesday night events with the map as well...

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
I don't think Marbella Outpost works for 30v30, reaper. It's set up fairly linearly, almost in Camp G style (though without quite the choke points). It also only has one walker a side, and while that would be fine with me, I don't think that really allows them to think of it as an armor map.
Continuing my search for more maps.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
I think we should be looking for armor maps with as few APC's as possible on them. It really is only the APC that destroys infantry so clinically. Or maps like belgrade that restrict the field of fire so APC's can't dominate.

You and I are on the same page, Logical. That was one of the reasons that Huge Tunis looked like a possible answer to me.
I actually haven't come across a TGW map that has had an APC yet.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
Please review and comment on Tunis HUGE. You can download an .exe which will automatically put it in the right folders etc by clicking here.
I'd like to hear from anyone and everyone on whether you think this map will be good for a 30v30 scrimmage. I have heard from very few on this matter. If you don't get back to me by Sunday morning, I don't want to hear any complaining about it.
I'll try and be on my server (999th's server) at 5pm EDT or by request for players to try out the map. Any comments are appreciated!
Again, download it here.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
Euro-friendly time? On a Sunday? With a new PC on the way?
Mmmm...
Thanks for taking up the headache of organising this Zoraster, I have a very small experience of setting up just an internal scrim, and this must be way more difficult. Props indeed.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
Just a reminder: I'll be on at 5pm EDT on my server (search for tactical gamer or 999th, making sure all of the things are unchecked) to test out and talk about whether the huge version of tunis is appropriate for our scrimmage.
Again, download it here.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
Okay I met with a couple of the guys from TGW. This is the message I sent them afterwards with the details. Take note of point 3 in particular as this is the biggest thing we had to agree on.

2. 30v30. If both sides have enough on, we can up it to 32v32 if we want.
3. 2 rounds with a potential 3rd round. TGW picks a map, TG picks the side. TG picks a map, TGW picks the side. The third, tie-breaking round will be an balanced head-to-head map.
We didn't agree to it, but shall we say that the team choosing the side should try and let the other know soon after the other has chosen the map? That way we don't have to do too much superfluous planning.
3a. A question for Called: I think we'd like each round to last a little longer since we're only doing 2 or 3 total rounds. Can we adjust the ticket ratio to make each round last at least 30 minutes or so?
4. On the TGW server
5. VoiP on
6. 100% Friendly Fire
7. No suicide tactics such as jihad jeeps or throwing rdx with the intention of killing yourself.
8. No beacons on inaccessible roofs.
9. Uncaps are fair game, bunny hopping is allowed (though TG will not bunny hop), spawn camping is allowed
10. Should one side not manage to get enough players on, we'll play on unless it's egregious (e.g. one side only manages to get 15 players). If both sides agree, we can have the team with more players loan players to even the teams.
11. BR will be on.
Thanks again for doing this. It'll be a lot of fun!

So basically, they get to choose a map (almost certainly a custom map) and we get to choose one plus an even head-to-head map.
What are your thoughts on maps we should choose? Keep in mind a couple of things: (1) it's a 30v30 scrim which will be a lot on, especially when organized (2) they get side choice.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
Well the head-to-head should be Belgrade, since it's pretty much the most fun of all the head-to-head maps.
On the 30v30 where they pick the side, off the top of my head (feel free to shoot the idea down but it just randomly popped into my head, and actually makes quite a bit of sense to me) is Shingle, since it's one the few attack/defend maps where both sides can win if they're both decent (whereas a decent defending team will usually win on maps like Cerbere, Berlin and Belgrade). Plus it's a big enough map for 30v30 with the number of flags and the amount of space between them.
Still, I can't actually remember that many maps since I haven't played much in a while so I may have forgotten an obvious one.

Shingle has 3 walkers on it and that's all. The whole point of this scrim was to play on armor maps with TGW. So no Shingle isn't going to work in my opinion, along with the fact that I just don't like the map

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
I'm pretty sure there's nothing that stipulates our map should please them. I think it's fair, they get one map they like and we get one map we like. If YOU don't like it, dear sweet Smachin, that's another matter. Also you forgot, there are FAVs on Shingle. It can be a gunship if you let Lorax drive it with his eyes closed . Plus I like the balance of it, one armour-ish map, then one infantry-ish map, then a mixed one.
Also I'm not sure about Belgrade now, since the Northern team (I think PAC) have it a little easier since they can reach the Statue and its Walker first, plus they have Krylovs, so perhaps Tunis? Although I'm not sure it's large enough.
