Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
Whatever map we choose for the second round, we damn well better choose PAC for the first round.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
If we follow Lyra's guidelines (and I suggest one should) then EU is better for armour maps (ask the oracle since I have no idea why)...however we'll have to take a good look at the maps themselves (flag layout, how prominent infantry is, they may like armour, but that doesn't mean they're going to chose a custom map with 50 gunships and 300 walkers) before setting anything in stone.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
Yeah. It all depends on the map they choose. For example, I would never pick PAC on Cerbere in a 30v30 scrimmage. While in open games it's my favorite side to play on my favorite map, it'd just be absolute annihilation in anything planned.
While everyone has a preference on which side's vehicles and weapons they prefer, this advantage pales in comparison to the advantage a side can have from the way a map is designed.

Well, you'll know what the custom map is before we play. Probably by the end of the week.
I STILL haven't heard many map suggestions though for the map we pick or the even head-to-head tiebreaker.

Do we want to pick a custom map too? I was thinking our choice would be a stock map.

custom sounds cool just as long as we have time to get to know it.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
I think we should choose a map that everyone knows well. If we choose a custom map then thats just giving their side an advantage, as they will have 2 maps they know well, while we've only played the 2 for less than a month.
As for the head-on final map, I vote Tunis, we are pretty deadly on Tunis if we have an all- TG team.
Edit: if they choose an armor map (which they likely will), we should definitely be EU if there are gunships involved.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
My hesitation with Tunis is that with 30 people on each side, it's going to be super crowded.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
Zor -- couple of questions:
- Are we playing 1 custom 1 stock with 2 rounds/map?
- If so, do we decide if we need to play a tie-breaker? By tickets?
- The tie breaker -- will it be custom or stock?
I'd suggest a stock map for a tie breaker, something like Tunis. If that's too small ... well, a larger map with bleed?
C:A assault maps (Gibraltar/Cerbere) will turn into standoffs, and there really aren't any infantry-focused Conquest:Head On maps.
What about a round of Shingle as a tie-breaker?

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
I think it's 1 round per map, they choose one (either custom or stock - they'll probably choose one of their custom ones) and we choose any map (again either custom or stock - I suggest stock since we should stick to what we know) and the 3rd map is only if it needs to go there if the first 2 rounds aren't won by the same side (so it's best of 3 I think)
I still say Shingle for our choice because it's big enough and I think it is pretty balanced for an assault map compared to others, they don't turn into stand-offs as much, and there's a lot of coordination involved in getting and holding bleed for both teams.
There aren't very many head-to-head maps I can think of other than Tunis and Belgrade, and the former is too small while the latter is a tad imbalanced in my opinion (am I wrong in thinking that PAC often get to Statue first and can get to the Walker first? If I am, then perhaps Belgrade is the right choice since its fun and large enough with enough armour, but not too much) If we can't find a good head-to-head stock map, I guess we could look at custom options.

Re: Save the Date: TG vs. TGW scrimmage (large)
Yeah, the way it'll be is:
Round 1: TGW picks the map. We pick the side
Round 2: We pick a map. They pick the side
If each side wins a round, we'll play a tie-breaker in a third map.
They'll almost certainly pick a custom map. We can pick whatever map we want for our map.
I agree that assault maps don't make a whole lot of sense for either our map or the tie breaker. We want the tiebreaker to be as even as possible, and assault maps with 30 people when it's ORGANIZED will be really tough to attack.
I assumed we'd pick a stock map as ours and a stock map as the tiebreaker round, but I guess I'm open to suggestions otherwise.
