Re: Winning the game at all costs?
I always feel good playing on TG, because on each team you'll always have at least 2,3 or 4 squad leaders who are trying to actively lead their squads. To me, even a novice SL who's at least communicating with his squad makes the game more interesting than any mute squad leaders you encounter on most servers. My hat is off to all of you who night after night dedicate yourselves to try and make a difference on the battlefield.

Re: Winning the game at all costs?
Wow...I don't pay much attention to the forums for a week and when I get back...this
?
If I knowingly join a squad lead by someone with a different playstyle to my own, then it is because I am in the mood to try it out again, to challenge myself, and maybe learn from it. If I then end up not having fun, I had already expected that and I will be likely to stick it out.
If I join on a SLer I know has a similar playstyle, yet the round goes badly, or they are just having an off day, or for some reason or another I'm just not having fun: I will be likely to stick it out because I understand that and it can happen to anyone, it is polite.
If I join a squad lead by someone I am unfamilliar with, and it turns out I don't mesh well with their playstyle, then I will try to adapt and learn.
In all cases, personally, I will make an attempt to follow orders even when I don't like the orders given. But I would also say that for all cases, there is always the rare possibility of a breaking point. Where, no matter what mood, who the SLer is, or what I had been expecting, I will have been having too little fun for too long, to stay. Personally, I feel that if you do it early on in the round, then it isn't very insulting because you've recognised you're not going to have much fun, and left before it became a bigger issue. It is your choice how long you decide to keep trying for, and the way you handle the situation.
Mature people will do their best to make an attempt anyway, so as not to insult the SLer, and will only leave after they feel they've tried sufficiently. If the SLer knows the person to be mature, then they will take that on board, and understand why the person left, without issue. If the SLer doesn't know the person then they can't say one way or the other whether they think enough of an attempt was made. As long as they were following orders, they broke no rules and we are talking about curtiousy.
TG doesn't force people to play games, or play in squads that they do not find fun. If a rule was in place that we had to stay in squads anyway, then when faced with the choice of continuing play when it isn't fun or breaking a rule...people would just decide to leave the game.
Looks like I'll have to stick around a bit more, you guys fall apart without me

You can't really know a plan is balls until you try.

Re: Winning the game at all costs?
Well, if the guy with the SCAR11 has a support buddy EMPing the walker, then it is a rather solid plan.

Re: Winning the game at all costs?
Yet if you followed the order you might see how a walker can indeed be taken down without the aid of an Engineer or rorche.

Re: Winning the game at all costs?
Hardly likely if it's on 100% armor and there is no support with EMPs...
Just replace the walker with a tank then XD

Re: Winning the game at all costs?
You know, I wonder if PK rockets can damage the back vent of a tank. 3 people can kill an APC with two volleys to the side, so maybe it works on a tank too.

Re: Winning the game at all costs?
I love how everyone automatically jumps to EMPs, links videos. Yes, guys, I'm aware of those.
So note my wording. "You distract the walker...." I didn't say EMP for a reason.
EMPing is not distracting. EMPing is EMPing or locking or any other verb. Distracting is decidedly passive, as in "dress up as a girl bunny and walk sexily across the street". :P

Re: Winning the game at all costs?
Want to keep going? OK?
CO to SL: I know you don't have any engineers, but I'll get Squad 2 to EMP the walker if you can distract it long enough to let their support player get in position. Then they get under it and shoot out the vents with squad 2.
SL to CO: No problem, consider it done.
SL to SM: Ok, you distract the walker while i run up with my SCAR....
SM to SL: No way...
Plan fails.
Why do I continue to push this so much? Because it is a legitimate scenario and one that has played out more than a few times. Also, I was in a squad on Sunday that had a verbal SL, granted he was a pub player but he was talking and trying to accomplish something that never got accomplished because the SMs wouldn't listen.Last edited by Lorax74; 09-15-2009 at 06:03 PM.
