Re: "Rocket spam" -- my views.
Some people will define all rocket-use as spam. These people will shut their eyes and ears and scream LALALALALALA while you're trying to explain the usefulness of rockets, so they're pretty much a lost cause.
But I think of rocket spam as (pretty much) just supressive fire - "Rocket spam the North snow wall so they can't push through". I think TG of all places is one place where twitch isn't valued as much as perfected technique, which is why rockets are used so often. For those who don't use them...your loss and more kills for me .

Re: "Rocket spam" -- my views.
I hate getting killed by rockets, just as much as I hate getting sniped. I will whine, bitch, curse, moan, etc. because it pisses me off. I'm pissed, because ulimately I'm mad at myself for being stupid, getting lazy and making myself rocket fodder. I either stopped moving in one place too long, or completely given up the ghost on my situational awareness and wandered right into my own demise.
I love using rockets! They are not useful in all situations, but there are many scenarios where they can have a big impact. One squad, particularly from high ground with good supplies, can hold off a LOT of enemies for a significant amount of time with rockets. And there is nothing more satisfying than locating a sniper who's zoned in on some other target, and blasting them off their perch with a volley of rockets.

This is where my rockets have value for me... I call them my "fear of G-d rockets" because while I can't hit the broad side of the barn with them, I can use them to encourage my opponents to keep their heads down and leave me alone while I get on with the important things in life (getting my teammates up and healthy). Sure, I reveal my position, but they probably already know I'm there, and the rockets might just buy me the couple seconds I need to get the rest of my squad, or at least my SL, to safety. When it all actually works like it should, my death buys the survival of the rest of my squad.

Re: "Rocket spam" -- my views.
I was unaware that self-propelled explosive devices designed to be fired from an underslung launcher in an assault rifle could be safely packed into 3" diameter food tins.
Rockets are a perfectly legitimate strategy.

Re: "Rocket spam" -- my views.
I think the whole "rocket spam" thing is ridiculous. Rockets are not a one-hit-kill weapon, your just not playing smartly if you keep getting killed by them. Since BF2142 is my first PC shooter experience I learned to play with the threat of rockets killing me behind a wall. Yes they can be annoying at times but that is mostly because either a.)The whole freaking team is shooting at you or b.)The person on the other end is really good with them. If you say "The rockets come out of nowhere and nail me while I'm trying to snipe someone" Then don't sit still! Sitting still in the 22nd century gets you killed so for goodness sakes MOVE AROUND! And if you say "I am moving around but they still kill me every five seconds!" Then move backwards and do it quick! You always have to be on the look out for incoming rockets, especially since you can see them from a mile away. Once you avoid the rockets use your own and take him down since you know where he is! Another reason there are rockets is to function as a mobile artillery of sort. Since you don't have an M777 howitzer in this game they give you rockets and just be glad that they can't take out vehicles! I also really don't like the term "spam" since it implies something bad like RDX SPAMMING!! (I hate that so much! So don't even go there!)

Re: "Rocket spam" -- my views.
Play some heated matches of Camp Gibraltar, especially if there's a standoff between Central and Ruins. Holy Christ, rockets everywhere. "Rocket spam" is simply another word for how ridiculously effective they are at suppressing the other team's advance when used en-masse.

some people don't think it is but in the Bible it specifically says to "Do not use His name in vain".
which means it's a word which should not be used in everyday convos. but only when your respecting it. Bible lesson

Re: "Rocket spam" -- my views.
Yeah seriously. You could use another word. I don't really even mind if you swear just don't take His name in vain. But this is getting off topic so lets stay with "What are your views on rockets?" OK?

Re: "Rocket spam" -- my views.
Well, I have mixed feeling around rockets.
I have been in situations where they are rather over-used, than again I have been the ammo pack behind many a rocket assault.
In my book there is a difference between "rocket spamming"' and a "rocket assault", spamming being the obvious overuse of rockets an an assault being a tactical procedure to clear an area at range.
I personally protest the whole assault/rockets mainstream thing by not having a single unlock in assault *gasp**murmur, murmur*.
So while I will gladly re-supply you with rockets, I will never fire one. (Ok, I have picked up an assault kit and used them once, but haven't gotten more than kills with them to date.)
All in all, I say rockets are a fickle cat.
P.S.- The only embracing of Rockets I have done is in the face...

Re: "Rocket spam" -- my views.
I think that individuals firing rockets to kill people takes a lot more skill than many people firing rockets at a spot/small area. Once there are five people shooting at that open ground with you, it is extremely hard to pass through without catching a mild case of death. However, I agree that using rockets in any way is a valid strategy. Especially when used to kill vehicles larger than buggies.
