Re: Fake TG tags?
We are a mature community
Heartfelt speech Zho You are quite the orator.
However, this time I think you might be wrong. I remember reading somewhere that if someone decides to both wear | TG| tags and break rules, the punishment is more severe.. such as if the first action is a warning, you get kicked.
But all in all, we're fair and just.

Re: Fake TG tags?
There is a gaming group called " Tactical Gaming" who use TG tags:
http://tghq.org/tghq/homepage.php
It looks like they use the " TG" tags w/o the "|" and refer to themselves as TG.
Quote:
Mission Statement
Tactical Gaming (TG) was created in November 2004 to bring together like-minded gamers from around the globe and from multiple platforms (XBOX 360, PlayStation 3 and PC), to provide them Head Quarters (web site) where they can share their backgrounds, experience, and interests in teamwork and tactics, as well as providing them with an environment that allows a "friends-first" experience in the online community.
|
Its possible that some people showing up on our server(s) are from this group.

And then we go telling them how they should wear our tags instead
I can imagine them going back to their website and posting how "pushy" we are

That is terrifically annoying. I'm glad the official version is using symbols that you must manually add in a config file versus simply using brackets.

Re: Fake TG tags?
haha I do admit, I think people spend a lot of time worrying about the "correct" way to wear the tags. Honestly, while a brief word might be worth mentioning, I don't care if people use lTGl vs. | TG|. One might look better than the other, but it's not exactly a pressing issue to me.

Re: Fake TG tags?
While the way everyone's tags look may not be as critical as how well people follow the rules of actual game play, it's still important in my opinion. It shows who has visited the website and read the rules and SOPs, understands how we wear our tags, etc.. It also shows how deeply we are a community of like minded individuals that want to uphold our standards. When I see someone wearing { TG}/[ TG]/! TG!/ETC., I see someone who doesn't necessarily take our gaming standards as seriously as I do, and it irritates me. The uniformity of the tags is one little way of showing new comers to the server that we are united in our efforts.
I kind of think of it like a football game. During the regular season, every player on the field is wearing the same jersey, same helmet, socks, etc.. They look like a TEAM all working towards the same goal. Now watch the All-star game after the season, where all the players may have the same jerseys on, but each are wearing their own team helmets. It looks like a bunch of guys that just showed up to play a pick up game.

For that type of work, virtues opposite of destruction are necessary: character, patience, and perseverance.
And more plainly -- how should we deal with people who misuse our tags, or publically accuse us of things we do not do, and do not stand for?
Do we hunt them down, and pursue them, and feed the trolls?
Or do we point them, calmly and politely, to our server, our squads, OUR PEOPLE, so that those who care to know the truth can find out for themselves. And do we show them that maturity stands for a step and measure above "eye for an eye", of simple retalliation, and we teach them what the tags stand for and what WE stand for.
Ultimately, it's simple: we're community built on character. We're not exclusive, we're not elitists, and we don't hunt down people who don't know better. Foremost, we're here for maturity.

Also something that I don't think has been brought up this time around there is always the 'contact an admin' forum that can be used for such individuals.

Actually you can add the | in the clan tag area when you are selecting which soldier to play on. It just doesn't show up, or in the game menu (only in game).

But speaking of Fake tags, i came back to the server and there were so many new IHS, i thought they were fake (like the M-th or something?) its not even a number
