Damn the admins!

Yep, seems to be the attitude around here lately. Damn the admins for changing the rotation, damn the admins for not being online 24/7, damn the admins for not give us junior admins, damn the admins for making decisions without checking with the community, damn the admins for policing the forums, damn the admins for being admins!

Yep, I said it....so now that it is out in the open let's clear the air.

You say you want more coverage and more admins so we ask for nominations....we got a couple..
We asked for people to step up to be full admins.....got two maybe......
Yet, when any admin makes a decision there are plenty of "Monday-morning-admins"
You say you want better rotations and we say ok, we will play with it....oh our fault, not tonight??
You say you want server stability, well we have to run live tests with different scenarios while the server is full....oh yeah, not tonight?

I do not mind, and I don't think any other admins do, comments or threads that are constructive. Complaining is not constructive is you do not offer solutions. Do not judge unless you have all of the information at hand. Ask questions to understand why things are done, then make sure you have all of the info.

Plenty of people are eager to say we need this and we want that, but I do not see too many stepping up to the plate. The admins give up plenty of their time to ensure that this community is on the right track, they try to make the majority happy...and yet they are the first ones to get beat down.

There is not one person here that I do not like, there are some actions that have been taken that I do not like.

We must be doing a terrible job with the server, because as you can see...the population is down drastically. The server is almost always empty, no one has joined TG in months, no new people in the forums. Hell, you all may as well give up the supporting membership because you no longer need it to get on the server.

There are more things coming and more changes that we talk about to make this a better gaming experience. We need to get back to the teaching and leading and stop the complaining and whining. When you post something in regards to a decision that has been made, then have something constructive to say. Question before you assume!

We can't all be happy all of the time, that is just life.

Remember that this is a community and we will not all agree, but we do need to be respectful and the people that put the neck out and make a decision should be appreciated for doing so.

Oh, one other thing....Junior Admins ain't gonna happen so just drop that! That decision is out of our hands.

Re: Damn the admins!

The admins do a great job, they are all volunteers who do what they can to make this a better place for everyone and they should be given a whole lot of respect for that. I think what happens is that when people do not like something, the first people they blame is the admins, but we need to replace this destructive whining with constructive feedback.

Re: Damn the admins!

I love the admins!! Y'all do a GREAT job!

(side note- the reason the server is less populated is likely b/c of three things -1) the new BF2 patch has people playing there, 2) school just started back, so both parents and students are adjusting, and 3) well, the game is like 3+ years old. I'm pretty impressed its as strong as it is!)

Battlefield 2142 is dying. And I could also see that no one wants to be on the TG server because its a tough server, and you guys are strict. Plus, so many TGs get on that people are always getting kicked for members. That doesn't really make you want to get on, if you know you might be kicked at any second. I've noticed the same over at the MG server.

I think you do a great job admining the server. It's a tough job; someone has to do it, and no one really knows what it takes to do it. Therefore, no one appreciates it.

I've been burned out and slightly removed from 2142 as of late, but I see no area in which the admins have done wrong.

Re: Damn the admins!

I have never had an issue with any of our admins. Never. They have always been kind, responsive, and knowledgeable. They do nothing less than a wonderful job. I think it's very cool that we actually HAVE admins that can do stuff like add or subtract things on a whim. Imagine what would happen if we didn't. I don't want to go there personally. So hats off to you guys!

Re: Damn the admins!

I don't post much on the forums, most of the time anything I want to say has already been said, but I'm always on reading up on what is happening. I must say I've been very disheartened as of late with what has been going on. It drives me nuts to see all this hostility that has been flowing between |TG| members and towards the admins.

I thank our admins for what they are doing. You all allow the server to happen. Without you I wouldn't have my favorite place to hope online and relax after a long week of classes ! Sorry, to see all this flack headed your way.

Re: Damn the admins!

I think all of TG is grateful for the work the admins do.

My only concern, personally, is that there should be more of you.

Re: Damn the admins!

I don't want a kissy thread. I want a thread with answers and +morale for the community.

We are working on that as I speak. We have two prospects and are in the process of handing them the pills (red and blue). For what lays on the other side of the rabbit hole cannot be unseen.

Re: Damn the admins!

Kissing raises my morale.

Personally I haven't seen any area in which admins were doing a poor job, and I have nothing but respect for them. Besides those few hours a day when the TG server is up and running but there are no admins to police it, I haven't seen anything that would make me say anything so drastic as 'damn the admins.' Changing the rotation? Fine with me, adds a little variety to my life. Running live tests on the server? No problem. If we have to give up a little once to ensure that the server runs more smoothly afterwards than seems to me to be a fine compromise. If what we have to put up with now, whether it be a new map rotation, a bit of laggy time on the server or even a day with a couple less members in order to make the game more fun is fine, remember, it's still just a game, and it's not like it's your last day to be able to play it.
