Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
PC players really need to be careful with their expectations on this game. I hope it turns out great but the Bad Company line was designed as a way to expose console gamers to the BF series. They are built for that audience and from the pc gamers perspective that typically comes with lots of downsides in regards to scale, playstyle, customization and longevity.
Its great that Dice suggest they aren't just doing a quick port job but the limitations imposed by the lowest common denominator are still going to be felt. Maps built for 24 players on consoles can only be scaled so much higher without a complete rework. Gameplay is probably going to feel more fraggy and more restrictive that any other pc battlefield game - 2142 players may not feel this too much but I would bet money poe2 or PR players will.|TG-12th|mantis

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
Mantis has the point here, though what I've played bf on consoles (Modern Combat), they weren't lacking much, but such things as no voip and no-dedicated servers really take off some longetivity, and both work well on PC.
I really wish Dice would give us atleast 24 players per team, but right now it seems the games are going to be focused around 12 players, which means that they won't have time to add such stuff in the game anymore.
What we should focus on downsides are mainly the ones that were clear in bc1, most clear one was extreme vehicle domination, which some guys have already addressed their doubts for :/ Besides that the new given elements enforce teamwork more than I've ever seen in game, but vehicles seem to have same status that which they do in 2142: "sniper with bigger gun". We'll se what Dice does, they're working for EA after all (they need to put something that sucks so they can make another add-on
)

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
It can, but the maps are packed full with 48. I remember playing El Al or Gazala on 1942.....absolutely huge maps. I see from someone elses post that DICE is going to have more space for more players in the PC version. At best though, it's going to be space for 32 people on the server, because maps built for 24 console people can't take twice that many on the PC.
I feel like the capability for a massive Battlefield experience is here. I feel like the tech has advanced to the point that you can have massive maps with lots of people playing on them, with multiple routes to victory requiring teamwork. BF2 had this. Take Karkand for example. You had to hold the east pedestrian route, the center Hotel, the short west route to Square, and the long west route to Suburbs. Then in 2142 you have Camp Gib...where you hold Harbor. Then, you hold Toll. The maps are necked down, simplified, linear. That doesn't mean 2142 isn't fun. It is fun, and I like playing it. I think though, that it isn't as BF as BF2 or 1942 was. In particular the proliferation of magic radars took a giant step in the Halo/COD direction. At the same time it did some great things. Shrinking kits back down was a very good thing. It's hard to do a "utility" squad of 6 when there are 7 kit choices. I like the unlocks and stats. They add a lot to the game. I think though, that we now have this game where squads can play together as a cohesive unit, revive each other, communicate over VOIP, and do things that simply were not possible in BF1942....and then we take these tuned killing machines and assault uphill into South Town, or assault into Harbor, or assault Crossroads by one of the three routes available. BC2 looks like it will be even more in this direction.
I don't get it. I think that something that combines the unlocks of 2142 with the teamwork aspects introduced in BF2, with good vehicle balance, a lack of wallhack items, all of the exciting new things we've seen in BC2 previews like the things the new engine can do, the vehicle upgrades, and with teams larger then 32v32 would be the next true BF game. I think BC2, which will be a fun shooter, goes too far into COD territory to be a BF game. There's nothing wrong with that, it's a perfectly legitimate direction to take a game. I just don't think it's the next BF.

I dunno if you know this Britt, but there is also a BF3 in production, so even if this doesn't turn out to be your cup of tea, there's still hope.

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
I did actually, but I am concerned that BF3 will continue the stepping down trend I discern from 1942>BF2>2142. To clarify, I don't have anything against COD style gameplay. I think it's fun and fraggy. I just don't like the idea of slapping BF on a COD4 clone. Especially disconcerting is the effect of vehicles on a small player count. One tank versus 24 is entirely different from one versus 12. I have awful memories of trying to jumpstart the BF2GN servers back during that patch that ruined the stability. We'd get some 8v8 going and then two people would grab the chopper or the tank and kill the player count.
I hope BF3 is all I want and more, but they have not deigned to enlighten us poor shlubs as to their vision or goal for BF3, so who knows. I wonder, especially, what era it will be in. I'd like to see a 2020s or 2030s game. You could throw in UAVs, UGVs, and some scifi-ish tech while keeping guns that go bang and not pewpew. I'd also love to see 4 factions, just for the heck of it. George Friedman has a book out called The Next 100 Years, and in that he predicts a global war in 2050 between the U.S./Poland and Turkey/Japan. I think some cool things could be done with that.

further info on limited edition box set
http://www.totalgamingnetwork.com/ma...d.php?t=214989Limited Edition FAQ
Do I have to pay extra for the Limited Edition?
No, it's the same price as the Standard Edition, just limited in quantity.
Do I have to reserve / pre-order to get the Limited Edition?
No, but that's the safest way to ensure you get one since there will be a limited supply.
Can I get the unlocks featured in the Limited Edition if I miss out and can only get the Standard Edition?
Yes, won't have the same day 1 advantage. You'll have to play through game and get the unlocks the standard way.
Where can I get the Limited Edition?
We intend to sell it at as many retailers as possible, but it depends on where you live and how much your retailer wants to stock up. Once they're sold out, only the Standard Edition will be available.
Why don't I see the Limited Edition showing up at my favorite online retailer?
It's up in some place like EA.com and will start to appear everywhere else. This is a busy time of the year and retailers are working hard to get this in place and it will be available both online and in-store.
Is the Limited Edition available on all three platforms?
Yes: PC, PS3 and X360.
Will there be a Beta or Demo before the game comes out?
Stay tuned to the blog or follow us on Twitter for future developments on all things Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
Does anyone else think they went a little over board with the destructable enviroment. I've seen in videos people shoot through wooden fense... Now yeah ok I'm 100% sure you gonna penetrate the fense, but he shoots down the fense cutting everything in half. Its a gun not a chain saw.(I've seen that mythbusters episode
) In the E3 video the guy shoots a GL at a concrete wall. I'm sure it would be damage but he blows a hole big enough to drive a truck through. Its looking like Battlefield: Styrofoam or Battlefield: Red Faction Guerilla.

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
Apparently they were worried about this in the original BC, but it worked well there, so they decided to take it further. Its once again one of those times when its realism vs. gameplay, but I find this system good enough.
And I think its also better engine wise, maybe if they hold bf3 back long enough we will see most realistic destruction environment so far.

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
I have played 1943 on xbox and there is not that much destructable stuff, maybe 10% of the landscape
The videos are designed to show off the destructable stuff to its fullest, when you actually get in game it is fun but still about 80-90% of the environment will be like superman in strength

Update #2: An EA spokesperson has told Blend Games that beta details will arrive later in the week. No indication as to whether or not the November 19th date is legit, though.

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
I'll be happy as long as there's some sort of beta for at least a few people to get their hands on at TG, at least it'll be able to give us some answers about the stuff we're worried about. Only thing is that they seem to talk about possible 360 and PS3 betas...no mention of a PC beta...

If there are beta's released for PS3 and 360, one will still probably come out for PC but probably after the console ones do.Anger is a gift - Malcolm X
