The beta sign-up page is now open. It asks you weather or not you have a PS3, so perhaps it's for PC as well. I signed up anyway.

This being a Battlefield-title with blood-enabled graphics, I think it'll be rated M in the USA, 16+ in the Netherlands. Bad luck to you.

Can't wait for this game to arrive in stores.

    there's a hardcore mode
No Crosshairs. No Minimap. More Lethal Weapons. No Kill Cam. No Regen Health. All Skill.

maybe something to interest the PR crowd

    EDIT
I've thought about this a bit more, this could be really good for TG !!!

I'm thinking 2 * 32 slot servers, one vanilla and one hardcore, both servers running squadless kick and SM slots
there you go admins, i've done all the thinking for you

BFBC2 will not support achievements through Games for Windows Live.

This sounds exactly like the CoD4 mode, this is making me vary scared since it caused a lot of problems with how the situation was handled.

On another note I hope DICE is smart enough not to touch Games for Windows Live on PC, its rather unnecessary.

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info

With CoD4:MW1 there were a lot of new players moving into that game and at first there were two servers to serve the community, one on normal and one on hardcore. I see the same sort of situation happening here, lot of new players and several styles of the same game. This brought a lot of differing opinions about how the game was to operate at TG. Lots of people wanted to play the game as is on normal mode (or at least give it a chance to work) while others were hardcore for hardcore mode (and even beyond). The real problem was that the admin team was very selective and were only on one side, hardcore (eventually to a high realism mode). So rules were developed that were applied to both servers that were only really designed for one server. This really alienated part of the community. In an effort to get along several of the 'normal mode' players attempted the hardcore mode. My opinion of hardcore mode was that of the typical 'normal' player that the game mode was no fun, I don't like getting shot in the foot with 2x9mm bullets and going down. At this point with a large divide in the community the admins made the decision to move one of the servers to a mod that forced some of the rules and increased the amount of realism in game. Even fewer of the 'normal' players tried out the mod server and once again found the same problems with even more at times. The player count was also really low which was also a problem for some people as you couldn't just hop on and play, you had to pretty much organize people to come play. At this point a large number of 'normal' players moved on to different servers or games. I stuck around for a little bit longer only to witness things go further away from cultivating a community to providing for a very select style of play. In all I was disappointed that I wasted my money on a game to see it ripped away and changed completely into something that was no fun to play.

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info

I would just like to respond to Reaper and his very accurate post.

Our new Game Officer for the CoD titles, Drona, has instituted a new ruleset for CoD4 and CoD5 (WaW). (I'm not too sure on the rules for CoD2, as Bubba is still running the show there.) There are no more boundaries with the new rules and the defense is considered to "own the map" at round start. The new rules can be viewed here. (The WaW rules are basically the same)

Currently, we have a CoD4 night on Fridays, CoD5 on Tuesdays, CoD2 on Thursdays, and Mixed Mode Mondays. Since the TG dedicated box failed recently and we have moved to simple rented servers, our lineup has changed a bit. We still run the OWP mod on the 2 CoD4 servers, but it is not set up as a realism type thing. Also, one CoD4 server is S&D only, while the second server is set up for mixed game types (sabotage, CTF, HQ, etc). On the CoD5 server, we are running Krag's SOG mod and it is set up to run mixed game types. The SOG mod is considered by some to be too realistic, whereas, I do not feel that it is. Come check it out and let us know what you think as, it changes the game to a class based system, similar to the BF series.

So, if you are feeling the itch, feel free to come check out the CoD series of games hosted here at TG again. I think you may be pleasantly surprised. And, if you find something that you don't like, feel free to post a constructive comment in the appropriate forum. Drona has proven that he is very interested in what the community thinks and is always willing to do what it takes to please the majority.

Thanks for reading and sorry for continuing the threadjack.
