Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
Let's not jump to conclusions, dill-man. The game has a very CoD feel to it from what I saw in that promo vid, so it might not appeal to everyone, also, the custom map team is working on cooking up some surprises for 2142. I might add that 2142 is also still going surprisingly strong for how long its been around, you might want to head over and tell the CS:S guys their game is dead.

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
Ahahaha, dill head. Instant winner. Also the CS:S comment was obviously in jest, I know there are swarms of people still attached to that game... I think its time they moved on...
EDIT: To succeed in CoD multiplayer you can either:
a) learn to countersnipe
b) spam grenades into random places
c) bring a HMG and spam every wall surface
d) pack Juggy, bomb squad and the auto shotty and piss everyone off
e) all of the above

You are very wrong on all accounts, but I am not going to go there. Battlefield series has always been more balanced online which is why I prefer to play those games instead of CoD games (with exception of CoD 1, it will always have a special place in my heart)

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
Hmmm, I would like to see where it says it will only support 24 players, I thought I read an EA interview which mentioned it would more?

Never in any official interview, video, or anything I read while writing the article for the FP, have I heard that it will only support 24 players. I could be wrong, but I didn't see it.
I'm still hoping that it will support more.

I have exactly same case because I remember cheering out loud when I read this. It was something about console player support being 24 and PC 48. I'm stating this mainly because it has to be true!

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
One of the promo video interviews says "three squads of four" per side. I do hope the PC version will support 48. Lots of squads, lots of options. One forseeable problem is that the maps will be optimized for 24 players... 48 players blowing up the environment might reduce the entire battlefield to rubble by the end of the round...

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
Frankly, I have been intrigued by the concept of destructible environments. I get the impression that city maps will probably devolve into marksmanship battles between people out in the open at the end of the round simply because all the cover has been blown up.

The physics engine is still realistic in the end, only way to reduce the map into dust is with vehicles, and even with them it would take way too long to actually wreck the environment if it has decent cover (such as the one in the video).
Though there will for sure be those moments when you have to change plan because somewhere pops shortcut / old one blows apart
Or they make it so that one grenade blows up the whole map

Go to about half-way down page 8 for a post from a dude from DICE.

Well, 24 is still ok, Call of Duty and Counterstrike have similar numbers on a server and don't seem to be doing too badly.

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
CoD and CS aren't BF , people who play Battlefield have traditionally wanted to get away from small unit play in order to fight on a massive...well..."Battlefield".

Re: Bad Company 2 - further info
I'm sure with destroyable cover 24 players is enough to make you quake in your boots, what with all those RPGs and grenade launchers and Tanks. Aw man, I am having a joygasm from the very thought of one of driving one of those... *drool*
